Curt, condescending hostess at pick-up interrupted me at every turn, with a tip menu starting at 22%. Not sure if they've changed hands recently, but Stone Soup is awful now. I've been here several times and each time I was more impressed. I took my little dog Sassy to the dog park next door and got lunch afterward. We sat outside on the shaded patio and had a delicious meal. It was a delightful experience all around! The menu has so many choices I had a hard time deciding what to get. Stone Soup is an adorable market and restaurant with warm, southern hospitality and delicious food. They have a nice outdoor patio if you like to dine outdoors. Inside, there are fridges with desserts on display as well as pre-prepared meals that you can take home and pop in the oven (think prepped lasagna, chicken Parmesan, loaded macaronis, etc). We went on a night where the weather and roads were very bad so the restaurant was short staffed. We didn't mind the slower service because the staff was so friendly and we just enjoyed the warm environment of the restaurant. I can't say enough good things about the host and our waitress. You could tell they were all stepping up to the plate to provide good service for the customers. I highly recommend the fried green tomatoes appetizer. They come topped with pimiento cheese and pepper jelly. For my entree, I had the Chicken Positano. The chicken was thin and the dish overall was plain, but still enjoyable. I will try a different dish next time I go. I would highly recommend the mushroom pizza, though! Cooked to perfection and so tasty. If you are a chocolate person, you have to get the flourless chocolate cake!! It's rich and moist and to die for. You could definitely share this with one or two other people (or not!) Come to Stone Soup for a great evening or stop by and pick up some slices of pie and take-home pre-prepared meals! Fun spot right off of I-26.. the diverse menu.. enjoyed the smoked turkey sandwich.. generous portions -spilt with hubby.. the dessert case so tempting .. our friend ordered the apple crisp a la mode .. This hidden gem is amazing! Food is fantastic but the customer service and ambience make it even more memorable! I ordered the Soup of the Day-Tomato Basil and it was the best I've ever had. I decided to also try the Fried Goat Cheese ball salad and it was so flavorful! My husband ordered the special of the day-homemade lasagna and there was not a crumb left. We also ordered Pimento Cheese balls and fries (not pictured) for our elementary aged son and he loved it! Our server Jack was so welcoming and friendly! Our VRBO owner recommended stopping at this pup friendly spot before making the last trek to the cabin. LUCKY US!! Fresh, well thought out fare with lots of comfortable inside and outside seating. Homemade Pimento Cheese brick oven pizza is one of the many choices of creative pizza offerings served on clean blue & white checkered table cloths. As well as assorted fresh salads, appetizers, and small plates. I had a scrumptious very original shrimp cocktail with avocado, house-made sauce and veggies, and a tomato pie with goat cheese. The Edmund's Oast Something Cold Blonde Ale was a perfect partner to these two delights. All complimented by the beautiful gardens and pergola we were seated in. Nutty chicken was fantastic and my husband said his Cobb salad was outstanding. We both especially liked the warm grilled chicken bites in our salads. There were lots of freshly made desserts calling our name, but we were too full from the huge salads. If this restaurant was near our home (six more hours!), we would be regulars here! Cute place, an old home turned into a restaurant. A fenced in dog area out back. As popular as this place is, I expected a bit more. Had Empty tables but it took 25 minutes to be seated . Excuse was they were reserved. We could have been done eating in that time as I got a glimpse of book and they weren't scheduled for ANOTHER half hour. Menu is limited as they cook with seasonal fresh ingredients. I'm not saying the food isn't good, because it is but for the price its just non descript. My wife had the salad which was on small side, fresh but just not worth the price. I had a burger which was just like I've had at dozens of places for a lot cheaper. read more

Stay away, the owner is clearly egotistical displaying her name all over the restaurant, but you never see "Suzanne". Thats because she sits on her phone looking at reviews in her downtime. There was ROACHES ALL OVER THE RESTAURANT! They Don't clean them I have been twice. I tried the stone burger and puked in the bathroom! Our party of five had a little wait, but the food was delicious. The basket of truffle parmesan fries were plentiful for our group. According to my mom her jam smash burger was almost perfect, just needed a slice of onion. I chose the restaurant because of their FB post of the brie spinach artichoke pizza. It did not disappoint. Just noticed owner Suzanne's reply. She said she did some research and we were asked to wait, but chose to seat ourselves. That is 100% bogus. I would have given you guys another try if you owned up to a bad day and a need to train people. I purposefully did not enumerate all the problems of that day. But since you just lied let me name a few of the issues: the server had been on the job 2 weeks ( as reported by her and the cook who was out there setting up tables and bussing in her dirty apron when we complained and asked for someone to help the poor girl.) she was left completely alone out there and didn't know the first thing about serving. Poor kid. If you asked for something she did part of it then disappeared for a long time. We finally got our food but had no silverware for 10 minutes. I finally got up and went in to the bar for silverware, that's when I met the cook. The table beside us had dirty dishes when we arrived, and still had dirty dishes (drawing more flies) when we left even though we asked several times that they be removed. The young kady would take a few items and leave and never did come back with a tray to take all the items off. Another server and the cook brought out tables and chairs - I guess for dinner service, but never removed dirty dishes or helped the young server with the large table that was seated after us. They never did get water before they asked to move inside... shall I go on? But you blame us instead? We actually came at the end of the rush, we asked if we could sit outside because we had our dog with us. The seating took a long time too. Training is an unending part of running a business. It's ok to mess up, but own that it was you and not the customer. Sad. read more

It was a cute place but very few people on a Thursday early evening. Service was a little slow. Our waitress was not very attentive. I had to ask others twice for needed items. Ok I will start by saying that I will give this cute little restaurant a second chance. My first experience was not the best though. I called in an order. I got a call back a few minutes later because she forgot to ask me about a side. Then, as we are pulling into the parking lot, the woman calls again and says that I ordered of the lunch menu, and she apologized, but it was dinner and I had to order from there. I told her I was just going to go in and order, since we had got there earlier anyhow. I could tell that she was new because she didnt seem to know much about the menu, but she was very kind. When I got home, I was missing my half-sandwich that I ordered with my cup of soup. I called, and she apologized again and, long story short, after a few call backs, I was on the phone with another woman who said the hostess was new, which I had assumed. They did leave me a cash refund to pick up when I'm ready. Now that I covered that, I will say that this restaurant is beautiful and quiet. The food that we did get was good. He got the turkey sandwich with fries, which was delicious. I got my crab bisque, which was questionable. It was very good, but I had to pick out little bits of crab shell with each spoonful. This experience could have been better, and I will probably give them another shot the next time in in the mood for something light. We sat for 50 minutes waiting for our food without updates. Amazing place! I must admit the name threw me for a long time... my wife disagrees (she thinks it's brilliant). I kept imagining cabbage broth with a rock in it. But yes, I know the story... anyway, we love this place. Some of the best pizza I've ever had --and I lived most of my adult life in NYC where I ate pizza everyday. Salads are divine! Best of all? Very Disappointing! POOR MANAGEMENT! Walk in and were seating quickly, drinks on the way, order was taken. Waiter came back 30 minutes later and asked if we need anything, we said no but thank you. He said let me check on your food not sure why it's taking so long. Waited another 30 minutes and I went to the front of restaurant and saw in the kitchen area with laughter of the staff, etc. I waited a few minutes, and the manager/owner came out and asked if I was helped, I said we are still waiting on our food, it's been an hour. Oh, it's up. As I walked past the main dining area a 4 top was seated and no one else. Waiter comes out with food and takes it to the table that was looking for him to get their check. I had been driving through the mountains and wasn't able to find any food for a while. I finally arrived back to civilization and decided on Stone Soup. There is a small market as well as the restaurant inside what looks to be an old house. I walked in and the sign said to wait to be seated. Well, I waited, and waited, and waited. Probably a solid two minutes. One of the servers finally saw me and directed me to a table near the entrance. I ordered the southwestern salad, though there was nothing particularly southwestern about it. Grilled shrimp, avocado, tomato, cuke and a lime dressing. The salad was pretty good. I didn't like the dressing and wanted to try a balsamic or something, but I never saw my server again, until about five minutes after I was done eating. Luckily there was some olive oil on the table so I used that as my dressing. My water was empty for most of the meal and nobody asked me about my food. Good food but horrible service. I have been so undecided about giving this review. Was so impressed with the greeting and atmosphere here. I ordered the chicken Chicken Positano dish and asked my waitress if it was basically like chicken franchaise because the menu stated it had a creamy lemon sauce on the Angel hair pasta. She said yes so I ordered it. When it came out the presentation was beautiful. The chicken was delicious but the pasta was cold and looked might have some butter on but no flavor of lemon or seasoning at all. While waiting to tell my waitress I started separating it out and squeezing the lemon wedge that was on the plate to see if I could flavor it up. Wasn't working at all for me. I was concerned because more people came in and were seated and they were having no problem with attentive servers. When mine finally was walking across the room I quietly waved to catch her attention and told her that the pasta especially was cold and seemed to be missing the lemon creamy sauce. She apologized and said the meal would be replaced. I felt bad and said all I really needed was the pasta and creamy lemon sauce but she said that they couldn't take a plate back that was delivered to the table. Well about 5 minutes later she gave me a bowl with warm pasta and melted butter. I figured it was basically buttered warm pasta and not as advertised. I asked for a to go tray and paid my bill. $26 for buttered pasta and chicken was a big mistake. While the other few patrons seemed happy with the meals they were served and were getting served well I just felt baffled why the waitress would misrepresent what was served and no follow through at all. I feel the need to warn future patrons that it is very pricey and the chicken dish was not how it was represented. So disappointed. read more

The weather was perfect, so the four of us opted to eat on the lovely patio. We all enjoyed our leisurely Saturday lunch. Three of us ordered pizza, each a different kind, and they were all excellent. Thin crust with plentiful toppings. One was on the gluten-free cauliflower crust, and my friend said it tasted better than most other cauliflower crust pizzas she's eaten. One of the guys ordered the French hamburger and fries and said it was just as he liked. Ate every bite. The pizzas were filling, and all three of us took slices home. Our waitress was efficient and had a sense of humor. Not a big dessert selection, so we didn't opt for any. But the beer and wine selection was very good. read more
