While visiting Colorado (as I do very often) this spot doesn't just clear that bar--it soars right over it. The atmosphere feels like a warm hug. It's bustling without being chaotic, with a genuine, friendly energy that makes you feel right at home. This cozy cafe is tucked away in the corner of the plaza and can be easy to miss. The diner makes good use of its small space with ample seating but does not have much space left if you need to wait for a table. I haven't been during a particularly busy time but I imagine it can get cramped. The menu is large and offers standard, if generic, breakfast and lunch options. It is easy to customize your dishes and there's good vegetarian options. Service was super friendly and quick. The meals I've had were good but nothing really stood out in a special way. Stopped in for brunch after a morning wedding and am glad we did! Pretty standard diner-ish fare, with plentiful breakfast and lunch options. I ordered a build your own "skillet" which was two eggs over hash browns to which I added spinach, mushrooms, and green peppers. It came with one side and I chose a biscuit. My husband ordered the Spanish omelet (which came with two sides) with a biscuit and cottage cheese. His omelet was good and my skillet was decent - the eggs were poached nicely and there were a good amount of veggies but the hash browns were pretty flavorless so I ended up needing to add a lot of salt and pepper. Our biscuits were fluffy and good though! The real standout was the service. Our server (I unfortunately cannot remember his name now) was amazing! I went to have breakfast there today on a Sunday. Was there for about an hour. It took a very long time to get food and coffee refills. As soon as we were finished eating, coffee not yet finished, we were asked to pay our bill. We wanted to finish our coffee and our conversation. There were open tables and no wait, all of a sudden a bunch of people walked in at one time. The server came up to us and told us "we needed to leave because they were now on a wait and they needed our table". Never at any restaurant that I have frequented have I ever been asked that. I was going to leave the server an extra tip for being there over an hour but because of this...NOPE. I cannot believe how rude they were. They were SWAMPED ... so so busy + running around like chickens with their heads cut off. This place never disappoints. We have been here many times, and have even brought family with us as well. Our go to is the Mazatlan Skillet. I love the green Chile and the sliced avocado that comes with it. We always split this with a side of hash browns, even though the skillet includes them. There is so much flavor to this dish. The food came out quickly and tasted amaz-balls. The Resturant is in a strip mall on the Far East side so there is plenty of parking. I can only speak about the food items we ordered. We both ordered eggs benedict. One with hash browns other with french fries. The eggs were hard boiled not poached. The sauce was not good at all. Extremely yellow and left a sour taste in your mouth. The hash browns and french fries were okay. The service was slow. We sat down and there were only 4 other tables, but took awhile to get order placed. We could not eat the food, and said so when waitress came by to see how things were. We explained what was wrong. She brought our ticket (with a discount added). When we asked for owners name, she told us for legal reasons she can not give it to us and then told us never to come back again. We were shocked she told us not to come back again. I always give a place more than 1 try but that was not good business to tell someone not to come back. I may be a regular here.. and I'm not even embarrassed. I am sucker for local businesses in my town, especially when the food is delicious! I've never ordered anything here I didn't like and this is my Sunday ritual. I've even been bringing out of town friends to join in on the deliciousness. If you do go on a weekend, you can be sure to call ahead and ask for wait times which is my FAVORITE. What local eatery allows you to do that? If you do have to wait, it's worth it! There is an outdoor patio for the warmer days which I am excited to enjoy this spring and summer. The coffee.. oh the coffee. I even had to ask where they get it from and now I'm addicted to Guatemalan coffee! The food - like I said above is always good and never have had a complaint! So, not a good day at Stonegate Cafe yesterday. I ordered delivery from here through Grubhub, and when my order was delivered, it was someone else's order. PLUS, and see photo attached, I had ordered potato salad, and what I received was about one tablespoon worth in the container shown. Now mind you, mistakes happen with orders mixed up, I understand that. However, my previous experience inside the restaurant was one of poor, rushed service as well. The last experience I noticed completely different servers. It seems that with most places still begging for help, that not only this establishment but others elsewhere are hiring whoever walks in, no matter if they know or care what customer service is or even what it means. I can't count how many places I've been in recently where there is NO conception of customer service. Now, getting back to my order. You can apologize all day long, but why on Earth would you serve a container of whatever that should be full with appropriately one tablespoon of food in it, without your customer being pissed off? No excuse for that. There's no excuse for not paying attention a half hour before you close either and handing a delivery driver someone else's order. Not only did I not get my 28.00 order, but someone else didn't get their order at all. I not only have to wait now 3-5 days for a refund, but had to spend a bit more money to order the same food from a different restaurant. Both my time and money are important to me, and I can't waste it on kids who can't practice customer service. We just went to Stonegate cafe for the first time this weekend and we were very happy with both the food and the service. We only waited about 5-10 mins for a table on a Sunday morning and every single staff member we encountered was very friendly and helpful. My husband had a burrito, I had the huevos rancheros and my daughter had the kids pancake special. The portions were very generous and the food was all very good! I would definitely get the huevos rancheros again and I can't wait to go back and try some of the Benedicts. The hot chocolate I got wasn't anything special, so I probably wouldn't get that again, but everything else was fantastic! This is our first time here and I LOVED IT! I will be coming back here for sure. The inside is small, yet cozy, and cute. The waitress we had was really sweet and nice. Scrumptious! We've been trying to find a good breakfast spot in the Centennial/Parker area and this is it! The Mass Confusion is a glorious pile of deliciousness. It's a light biscuit on the bottom covered with gravy, eggs, tons of cheese, and bacon. The gravy is flavorful without the thickness that most places have. We were sat very quickly and they made accommodation for us. It took an hour for us to get our food. People sat after us got their food first. Even if the kitchen was backed up or something got messed up with our order, the waiter never said anything or checked in on us. We had to catch them when they ran by us. We ended up just taking our food to go and when we ate it 30 minutes after leaving it was dry and over cooked. Not being dramatic on the hour long wait either. The whole time all three servers made eye contact with us but did not greet or acknowledge us. When one of the booth opened up, our party of 5 tried to sit down and one of the servers said you can't sit there rudely. I'm guessing the 5th person would need an extra chair or possibly block the path but the server did not offer an alternative to the problem. We sat at the booth for another 5 minutes with no acknowledgment from anyone so we got up and left. 1st I have to say that Stonegate is one of my favorite places for breakfast. Been going there for years. Eat there at least once a week. Sad to say I had a horrible experience today & lousy customer service. Ordered omelet, hash brown crispy & toast. Got my omelette & undercooked hash browns & no toast. Waiter said he would get me another order of hash browns & toast coming. Ate 1/2 my omelette & left the rest until the other 1/2 of my meal arrived. 30 mins later no hash brown & still no toast. Told waiter I couldnt wait any longer & had to leave. I didnt say anything about comping meal but waiter blurted out - "won't comp your meal". I have loved this place for years so worked hard not to lose my cool. I said I havent yet rec'd my entire meal. He said hash browns were ready if I still wanted them & then turned & walked away...not waiting for my answer. I eat here at least once a week & the only thing they did for me was to take $5 off the full meal I ordered and never received. Paid $15 for 1/2 an omelette. Shocked and very disappointed. read more
