Lil' Fox Bartending requires you to provide the alcohol but they will have all the mixers and everything else. This not only will save you a lot of money but will also allow you to have your favorite selection. They will help you through out the planning so you don't need to worry about anything. Make sure to check out their roof, they allow the couple and the photographer up there to take photos. The view up there is breathtaking and I am not exaggerating at all ! ! Cons: Unfortunately it was cold and we could not have the curtains open, and the curtains are rather old but besides that everything is perfect. Like I said we knew it is going to be cold and the curtains were necessary to keep it warm indoors. They also provide heaters which do a great time at keeping the place warm. They are a little loud though, but nothing annoying really. Anyhow if you get a chance to have your wedding before the cruel Michigan winter attacks, you should not go anywhere else. Luckily it was not too cold on the day of the event and they had a bunch of heaters for us to use (and we rented a large tent heater). With the curtains closed and all of their heaters running, it actually got quite comfortable inside. People were somewhat huddled around the patio heaters, but with them put together in the main area, it was fine. People were able to move around without their coats on and have a good time. Overall this is a great venue!

I can't say enough good things about this venue and staff. I wouldn't wish our Covid wedding planning stress on any bride and groom, but I will tell you from personal experience, Shadowland will stop at NOTHING to give you the best wedding reception possible! We were the classic "had everything planned out pre-Covid" story, so the Covid curveball really forced us to revise all our plans. Shadowland worked with the state on what the current guidelines were, and kept us updated with every change, giving us our options and telling us what to expect. Our venue wedding coordinator, Rysa, was so responsive with our questions, and truly made us feel like our wedding day was as important to them as it was to us. Having an August 2020 wedding, we were unfortunately constrained to an outdoor reception, and although it was crushing to not be able to us their beautiful ballroom, I cried happy tears when they informed us they would be putting up tents for us outside so we could still host our reception with them. With so many cancelations and changes, it was a huge relief to know they were still in our corner and not going to give up on us! Not only did they stick with us, but they went above and beyond to make sure it was amazing. One perfect example of their attention to detail was the color-coordinated bracelets they provided for guests to display their social comfort levels at the reception. This was a huge hit during an event where we had many guests of varied preferences. I would have never thought of this, but it made ALL the difference and was one less thing for me to worry about on our wedding day when we were giving out hugs and hellos. I will admit, even though we didn't choose it on purpose, the outdoor "tent on the beach" feel was actually pretty great! The guests loved being able to walk down for sunset pictures, and it was fun dancing under the stars. Fortunately for us, the one thing we did NOT have to change was our food choices because Shadowland provided all the catering. There were so many great meal options available at our tasting that it was actually hard to pick what to serve on our wedding day, and as expected, everything was delicious! We received many compliments on the food. Our wedding reception was absolutely perfect, even amidst the ongoing changes, and i know we have Shadowland to thank for making it possible.

Nicole and Jasmine made the entire planning process so easy and fun. I didn't have a wedding planner or coordinator, so it was helpful to lean on Jasmine for questions or advice. She was organized, responsive, so sweet, and helpful. Even with my crazy type-A personality I was able to relax on my wedding day knowing Jasmine had everything covered. We had 150 people and the ballroom was a great size for that. We used the patio for cocktail hour, and that was a hit. We had a second bar on the patio for cocktail hour as well. The food was great; we got a lot of compliments and it was so easy to have catering through Shadowland. The ballroom was beautiful. The only thing I didn't love was the chairs at Shadowland, so I went with gold chiavari chairs from www.chiavarichairswedding.com and they were fantastic and really made the room look great. I recommend using their preferred vendor list. It was so nice to have vendors who were familiar with the staff and layout. We used Ben Pancoast photography and photo booth and Music Unlimited for our DJ. They were terrific. We rented the carousel for 1 hour and it was a HIT. Our wedding was 21+ and the adults loved it. We definitely needed the full hour for the 150 guests to get our photos done first. We also loved the Mock Wedding shadowland throws for their confirmed couples. Barn weddings and banquet halls are the rage around here and nothing felt right for us. Then I found a new (recently renovated) venue called Lake Michigan Gardens. We were sold. We did the vows outside with the pond, flowers, arbors, and space for guests to roam was lovely. The dining area is spacious and you can set it up how you prefer. The bar area is really great and us girls had fun in the brides room getting ready. Kristy, the event coordinator, is down to earth and so helpful and we just knew it was the spot for us. I think we may be the first wedding they have had, but I guarentee it will not be their last. They will work with you on vendors and your thoughts and wants. Weddings are crazy, but ours went smoothly and it had a lot to do with Lake Michigan Gardens. I highly recommend checking out this lovely spot. All of my family and friends had nothing but high praises for the venue and a beautiful day there.

However this building is DANGEROUS; this venue should be avoided at all costs for events that can happen when there is snow on the ground. The building has a metal roof that's has a pitch of approximately 60-70°. If there's snow on the roof it's only a matter of time before it comes flying down before falling 3 stories to the ground. During our rehearsal dinner 5 cars had their windshields smashed in by falling snow and ice, including the bride's car. At least one vehicle had damage to the hood. The owners of the facility didn't even put up signs to notify people of the danger the next day for the wedding. I saw many people walk right under the spots where the cars were hit the night before. They just put up two caution cones and hoped for the best. After mentioning this to a few friends the following day we learned that similar incidents have happened in the past but no one was hurt. I find it disturbing that the owners have done nothing to stop people from parking or walking under this problem area. THE OWNERS ALREADY KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE AND REFUSED TO ADDRESS IT. When this happened we all sat around and listened to the bride call the owners. The woman she spoke to was less than empathic to the bride who was obviously shaken up and crying. After finding out that no one was hurt the next thing she said was that everyone involved needs to call their insurance and make a claim. The next thing she said was, "Did you call the police? Since it's on private property the police don't need to be involved". After the bride hung up the phone we all just looked at each other dumbfounded by the lack of empathy or remorse. Two of the people whose windshields were smashed lived over an hour away and had to find someone to come and get them in the middle of a nasty storm. Also, there is a snowmobile trail that runs along 2 sides of the building. This means that it's legal for snowmobiles to be within a 10 ft of the building on all sides. The most recent wedding I attended had to be stopped a few times while we waited for packs of snowmobiles to pass. The trailhead and main gas station for the snowmobiles are also right next to Red Brick Hall. There's nothing on Google or Apple Maps indicating the presence of these trails and the owners obviously aren't going to tell you about them. To top it all off there's train tracks less than 200ft away. We had to stop the ceremony when a train came through blaring its horn. We're also still trying to figure out why the bride and groom were charged 10% more for food than originally agreed upon. If anything you'd think the owners would provide a discount after everything they put the couple through. I will edit this if the owner's insurance ends up taking care of the damaged vehicles but so far everyone is paying their deductible out of pocket.
