The worst place ever! We went in persona little over a month with our son to have a storage and truck reserved. He filled out whatever was needed. System was having some issues. The worker took his name and phone number down. We were told we are set for 6/10. 6/9 we called and were told we don't have a storage. We only have the truck. Spoke to the worker who claimed he was the manager. Told him who we spoke with when we were there and he told us this person doesn't come in until Saturday and he is or will not be able to talk to him until then. Basically he won't do anything for their mistake. we had to scramble to find another storage and closet one we found is 20 miles away as everything else near the school is gone. Unbelievable! DO NOT GO HERE AS they don't care and no apology whatsoever. read more

Horrible, unreliable service. Please do not support or waste your time here. Employees are unhelpful, lazy, and really don't know what they are doing. If you are desperate for a storage unit, make sure you get copies of everything you sign and note who you talk to for any future proof because they will most likely lose some of your paperwork! It took me 4 months to get my deposit back after frequently asking for it because they lost my vacant form and never informed me. They didn't give me my full refund back even though I gave more than a 2 weeks notice. It was very frustrating to work with them. Worst customer service in Davis. read more

The units are clean and the grounds are clean and safe. The young men who helped us rent a unit were helpful and friendly. This is the Davis, CA storage facility. The parking isn't great - the staff park in some of the closest available spots all day, but I can park pretty close to my unit. I'm very glad to have storage here! read more

The elderly man who I presume is the manager was appallingly rude to me, my family, and my friends on 3 separate occasions we were there. My father asked to use a restroom there when he was picking up a moving truck and was coldly turned away, with the man telling him customers can't use the restroom (even in an emergency like this). We later had some questions regarding a new storage locker we wanted to upgrade to and he couldn't even tell us its location in relation to the elevator. He was extremely defensive and angry when my mother asked again, saying he had worked there 15 years and didn't ever bother to learn the layout, which seems like a very odd 'defense'. He was also rude about my mother's accent (which is very minor and she was speaking clearly), telling her he didn't understand her when she was speaking just fine. We decided the space my friend got was too small, so we agreed with the man to upgrade to a larger unit and very carefully asked about getting a refund on the first space, which he told us was perfectly fine but my friend would have to come into the office herself since her name was on the first set of papers. A few days later, she comes in, provides my name and our new unit and he blatantly tells her he never promised me a refund on the old unit. We were only renting the initial unit for about a week (it was empty and unlocked the entire time) before my friend came to sign out of it, so I could understand not receiving a full refund but that is still what he initially told us. The customer service I experienced here was degrading. My family and I were spoken down to the entire time. I have never had such a negative experience. read more

Although the storage was well located, and the units good sized and clean - I will not do business here again. Management is very rude on phone. rules are ridiculous For example we asked to change the name and address on our billing. We were told we had to empty the unit, inventory all contents, have management ok. and sign form with daughter, and then re stock. We were left on hold 15 minutes, and later hung up on ! After we vacated unit it took several calls, several e-mails - and their insistence they had sent the check ( which they later found ) and six weeks time ! Very difficult people to do business with. read more

The customer service here is appalling. The guy who runs the place is probably one of the grumpiest I've ever met! He would bark orders at you as if you were an employee of his who doesn't understand their job after a year of training. My first experience with Stonegate was over the phone to reserve storage space. The person on the phone was cold and curt with me, but I decided it was no big deal. On the day when we were putting things into storage, one of my relatives was helping me move and arrived first. When I arrived, he was visibly upset. He had asked to use the restroom in an emergency but the owner refused, despite knowing that Stonegate is in the middle of nowhere without another restroom nearby. My relative had to drive away to find a restroom. He also speaks limited English (certainly enough to ask for a restroom) and has an accent. I later saw him speaking with the owner, who responded slowly and loudly, in a way which was disrespectful and "dumbed down." It was just offensive. The least a customer deserves is to be spoken to in a dignified manner. Once I arrived, I initially had trouble finding the exact location of my storage location and asked for directions. The owner told me to find it myself. "I don't know." He said he had worked there for 15 years....but did not know the layout of the area. So I walked through the entire lot until I found my area toward the end. Prices are fine (although having a security deposit basically equal to the rental price is pretty absurd..I got mine back eventually) but the customer service, particularly from the male owner, is intolerable. It's not worth the discomfort and poor treatment. read more

I have used this place for a few years storing some childhood boxes. The storage itself has been acceptable I guess, but customer service has always been brusque and their customer options extremely unhelpful. They are the only storage place I've used that requires coming in in person for many types of payment/account updates. The latest and final straw is that for some unfathomable reason they are "unable" to accept credit card payments for late fees, either over the phone or by mailing in a signed form, so be warned that if you ever experience a late fee (due for example to a lost or stolen card you'd had on autopay and being a bit late to take care of it), and do not live locally enough to bring in cash, prepare to try to scramble in the middle of a work day to get a cashier's check (what) to mail to them in the physical mail (what). Believe me I plan to get my stuff out of here and move it elsewhere as soon as I can, before I ever have to deal with this again. I have used storage facilities in a few different locations and every other place has bent over backwards to assist me in getting my payments set back up after a lost credit card. For the record, my dear other reviewers, I am not a "spoiled student", but rather a person with an actual job that means I can't just waltz off in the middle of the day getting cashier's checks for literally no reason other than inflexibility and lack of interest in assisting a long term renter. read more

Wow I don't understand most of the complaints apparently are coming from a bunch spoiled students. I had 2 units now just one, I had no problem closing one out and had a prorated refund with in 14 days. Maybe you moronic people didn't give notice (30 days) as stated in the contract. I have never the owner but have had plenty of friendly conversations with the young couple who run the day to day business. As a business owner my self customer service is very important to me. A+ is how I rate Stonegate Storage. All this being my experience I would say look at yourself you are a bunch of complainers I have read how you trash had working merchants. Very unhappy with my service. I made my reservation to pick up a 10' truck in Davis. I received an email confirmation (saying I was guaranteed a truck for my move date) for this location as well as a separate text message notification saying to call Stonegate to confirm with them. I called and spoke to a gentlemen who further confirmed that everything would be ready for my move. On the day of my move, I went to pick up the truck at Stonegate Self Storage only to be met with the worst, most condescending customer "service" I've ever experienced in my life. The older lady at the counter (wish I got her name) informed me that they didn't have a truck for me and that my reservation was booked for the uhaul location on Capitol ave in W Sacramento. At this point, I got a call from a lady at the uhaul location in W Sacramento informing me that uhaul had switched my reservation to their location. She gave me a fluff excuse about how uhaul is really busy around this time with people moving and they typically have to move customer appointments around. I'm not unreasonable and I can understand that, but why was I barely getting that call on the day of my move, 30 minutes after my pick up time was supposed to be? I explained to the lady at Stonegate that I booked it in Davis, got the confirmation email and text (showed her the emails and text), and even CALLED her business to confirm (I live in Davis, why would I book a truck in W Sacramento to drive it back to Davis only to take it back to Sacramento, where I was moving??). She proceeded to tell me that I was lying, that I never called to confirm, and that I wouldn't have a truck to move with from her. She put me on the phone with a customer service rep from uhaul who I then spent 10 minutes in silence with because he was trying to figure out why my reservation was changed without any notification to me. As I'm explaining to the rep about my calling Stonegate to confirm, the lady from Stonegate listened on and made outlandish and rude comments under her breath, saying that I never called them. Utterly insulting, wholly untrue and outrageous. The customer service rep confirmed that I was supposed to have a truck in Davis and that they made an error. He offered me a $50 credit for my move which was nice, but now I still have to drive all the way to Sacramento (11 extra miles I didn't plan for and wouldn't have had to pay for had they gotten it right the first time) just to bring the truck back to Davis to load it, then take it back to Sacramento. Because I was told that my reservation was GUARANTEED in Davis, I set my schedule around being able to pick it up there. Mis-scheduling my pick up was already a big enough issue but I was completely flabbergasted by the overt rudeness of the lady I dealt with in Davis. She made everything 10 times worse. read more

I've had to store my things here twice due to lack of options in Davis and both times have been terrible. The young man and woman that work there are extremely rude especially the man who practically almost fought another customer in front of me then continued speaking to me like nothing happened. No apology or anything and no forms to fill out so I had nothing to do but pretend I wasn't standing there listening.. terrible customer service. Try your best to not get stuck renting anything from there. read more

Great customer service & great prices. In the summer of 2013, I rented a storage space and was pleased with it. The owner was very courteous and even let me take two mattress protectors without paying for them (b/c their computers were not working). I just got off the phone with Stonegate Self Storage after attempting to rent a U-Haul. I have never been so badly treated by a business before. Whoever answered the phone was rude and condescending- during the first 30 sec of our conversation. I just needed an answer to a question I could not find on the online U-Haul website about drop off times, and was treated as if I was the most idiotic person in the world. I am not willing to put up with verbal abuse from a business I am going give money too. Better luck somewhere else. read more
