Stoner's in Georgetown is permanently closed. Thank you for the pies, the marijuana puns, and for being so close to home that pizzas were still magma-hot when I got them home. Management and ownership has changed a few time over the last eight years. Recently they started running out of toppings, which should have been a sign of their impending demise. And some nights there was only one employee slinging pizza and taking phone orders. Big thanks to them. I met the folks taking shelving out of the restaurant. They said that a new restaurant would be opening, but they did know when. Massa African Restaurant will open up shop here, they said. There's one in Pooler. I don't know if they are opening an additional spot, or relocating. I don't know which African cuisine they'll specialize in. But the guy moving equipment says they will sell pizza. I guess the salamander is staying. African pizza may sound incongruous to some, but remember that Italy tried and failed to colonize Ethiopia. And neighboring Eritrea was an Italian colony for 51 years, starting in 1890. East African food isn't well known here, so I expect -- and glean from the Pooler menu-- that the fare will be more West African, which is well aligned with local Gullah/Geechee and southern cuisine. Anyway, that's what may be coming to G-Town, a sit-down restaurant that has good reviews... and it may serve pizza. I'm in! read more

Stoner's Pizza Savannah GA Order placed at 6:41 pm on December 20, 2021. Had to call 3 times wondering where our food was. Finally showed up over 2 hours later. Food was cold and under-cooked on garlic knots, calzone and all 3 pizzas. Uncooked dough is clearly visible. Spoke with the manager who refused to correct the problem or offer any refund. He went so far to say that I should have ordered "well-done" pizza. Who orders "well-done" pizza? He tried to school me on how the oven works and refused to do anything to fix the order. This place is a favorite of my husband. But, I'm sorry I can't say the same. I'm a native New Yorker... from Brooklyn to be exact. Brooklyn is home to some of the best pizzerias. So, anything else will be a tough act to follow. I was very excited to learn that they had "Brooklyn Style" pizza as an option and didn't hesitate to order it, hoping that I would have a tasty reminder of back home. I was left disappointed. I tried to place the order online but the website was so difficult to navigate, I grew frustrated and decided to call. I get that a lot of businesses are short-staffed but the person I spoke to rushed me off the phone so fast, I knew in my gut that she was going to get the order wrong. When we opted to pick it up as opposed to a delivery, we got there and still had to wait for our order to be made! Which defeats the purpose of ordering ahead of time. Despite giving my order AGAIN in person, THEY STILL GOT IT WRONG! When we returned home we discovered the pizza crust was burnt, the sauce had no flavor and there was just an average amount of cheese. Considering I ordered EXTRA cheese, this was the straw that broke the camels back! I was officially done. At the end of the day, I received an overpriced, underwhelming pizza experience for my money. Half baked cookie dough?!!! Yes! Best pizza in Savannah and they do delivery right! I thought I had reviewed the Stoners Georgetown location. They are due numerous accolades. Their pizza is delicious. The hand tossed crust has thick fluffy crusts you actually want to eat instead of feed to the dog. The pizza sauce is flavorful and plenty. They don't skimp on the toppings and put lots of cheese on. The wings are everything you want in a wing. Mostly drumettes with a crispy skin. So good. My favorite are the lemon pepper ones. Cooooookies!!! These are absolutely addictive. You have been warned. They are kind of like eating warm cookie dough with a crust. Yes indeed! The Georgetown location is definitely the best Stoners. When the food arrived the size of the meat lovers was wrong, we got a 14 inch instead of the 18, the garlic knots did not have any marinara like we asked and the veggie pizza was hard as a rock. We called and respectfully voiced our concerns and were told we would get a call back, but never did. We then called again and our number went straight to voicemail. I ordered last night with an estimate of being ready in 20 minutes. I arrived about 30 minutes to give them ample time only to be told " Sorry, I haven't even started yours yet". There was only one person working, so I was understanding and offered to cancel my order. She was happy to cancel it, but could not issue a refund. She then had to lock the store to go pick up her "help", so I waited as I had already paid online for close to an hour. While waiting inside, I noticed that no department of health rating was posted anywhere in the store and watched this so called Manager (this was after my pizzas were in the oven) move a trash can around with her bare hands and then continue to knead pizza dough all with no sanitation. I did not witness either employee wash their hands or wear gloves the entire time I was in the storefront. Also, the manager had brought a newborn baby in and had clearly changed a diaper and the baby was in the kitchen area in a car seat. I understand that everywhere is short staffed, but the owners of this establishment need to get their stuff together, this lady was clearly struggling. It only takes a minute to be sanitary. We have ordered from Stoners many, many times and I didn't think you could give a review without visiting the store but I feel I need to get the word out. We have had a few hiccups over the last 2 years but our overall experience has been wonderful. You have the convenience of ordering online so you know exactly from the time you pay when to expect your delivery. On rainy days and Holidays, Stoners is super busy so the delivery takes longer than usual but that's to be expected. Just because they don't have the fancy trappings of wood or coal-fired pizzerias doesn't mean stoner's doesn't make great pizza. I have ordered everything from Wings,Salads, and various pizzas. Last night, I ordered the Jenny's Salad and My husband had a custom pizza. My Jenny's salad was loaded with fresh fruit, Cranberries, Shredded Coconut, juicy pineapples, lettuce, tomatoes, black olives, mushrooms, and Grilled Chicken. An absolute explosion of juicy flavors in every forkful. It's my favorite and I always order it. The salad comes with 2 pks of Ken's salad dressing and 2 cheesy bread sticks. A wonderful combination and a well thought out product. My husband's custom hand tossed New York Style pizza contained mushroom, black olives, and hamburger meat. The pizza was perfectly cooked, smelled good, and looked delicious! We are both big fans of Stoners and Highly recommend you try it as well. Convenient location so we do order often. Better that the typical dominos/ Pizza Hut pizza. Calzones are yummy too but usually takes a while. When we ask for pizza cooked a little extra/ ran through the oven twice and thus rarely happens. Also, the rewards point only work at some location which is a bit frustrating. I swear I'm not a Karen and I've had thin crust pizza before...... but dear Lord this pizza was so thin it was translucent. I could see through to my bad decisions. We drove 20 hours in the past two days. Yesterday we didn't get in to where we spent the night early enough to order dinner. Today we were very excited for a tasty meal. Especially with paying $50 for a large pizza that barely took up half the box and a half of a salad that had brown lettuce with holes and was slimy, and frozen chicken nuggets that claimed to be "slow-smoked chicken".
