Went here with friends and spent a few hours there. Friendly staff kept the drinks coming. The chicken fingers were delicious and a good size order. There were a million things on the menu we wanted to eat, and drooled as food was being delivered to neighboring tables. We were going to order a bunch of stuff and share it all, kind of like tapas, but the people who were meeting us for dinner were a little more high maintenance and wanted something fancier. So we left and went to a fancy spanish tapas place. After dinner, when the uppity people had left, we agreed that the original plan would have been so much better, and we should go to Stoney's for lunch the next day. Sadly, we didn't have time, but next time I'm in DC this place is a must visit. Also - the waitress told us the chicken tenders were marinated and breaded in house, all the sauces were also homemade, so it's not like it's just tasty bar food that goes from the freezer to the fryer - it's actually the real deal. read more

Service was slow and inattentive...service w an angry face to be accurate. Later, when we wanted to dispute the bill, the waitress called over the manager and he told us it was "our" fault for not knowing how to order correctly! Yes, you heard me correctly "our" fault for not knowing how to order correctly!!! If the waitress has doubts as to what we want...its her JOB to understand so that things come out correctly. It was our first time there and our LAST!! A group of us came by after Vegas Lounge became claustrophobic. We snagged a big table by the window to enjoy our beers. Never saw a waitress, but we all managed to head to the bar frequently. I wrote my last review in 2007 when I had been there I think twice. Since then, I've gone countless times and usually late at night around 12-2am. One time, there was a giant cockroach flying around the bar. Another time, the bartender called some people at the bar "bitches" out loud. And EVERY TIME - that same bartender was SLOW. Even more amazing? This guy gets frazzled by two people ordering drinks at the same time. I've seen him turn red and freak out with 3 people at the bar! I've never seen a worse bartender in my life. I tried Stoney's for lunch or dinner a few times after I moved here and really wasn't impressed. A couple years later, my girlfriend convinced me to give it another try. I'm glad she did. I'm not sure what happened since the renovation/expansion, but I definitely don't mind eating here now. The menu is pretty good (I like the buffalo chicken sandwich), it's cheap, open late, they actually have real tables now in the back, and you can call ahead for a 10-15 minute takeout order. Stoney's is now a much better takeout choice than Yum's if you can get there early enough. read more

Great old style ambiance. The selection of beer is eclectic with some Organic brews and a delicious Cherry Blossom Ale. It was a very laid back sports bar with pub fare and a descent bar menu and seemed to be a hang out for locals in the area before going out. But they have some interesting twists introducing some strategy to the game, the topics were relevant and interesting, and the pace moved pretty quickly. Stoney's is so great. They make all your American foods taste so good! I am IN LOVE their grilled cheese and tomato soup. We also had their mac n' cheese and OH EM GEE! I've probably tried almost all of them and liked them all. Go during happy hour and it's $5 classic grilled cheese. I'd also recommend trying their mac and cheese (which comes with amazing cornbread). The burgers are also pretty good. Solid. I like Stoney's. It's a good neighborhood spot, having eaten and consumed libations here, it's a solid bet all the way around. Its bar food, no culinary delights here, but you can get a sandwich for $8.50 and it comes with a huge heap of fries. The staff is friendly and there are plenty of places to sit (I HATE STANDING). Weekend brunch here is pretty decent. Its definitely a hidden gem. $5 mimosas and an omelet with homefries and toast is $7.75. It cost us $25 for the 2 of us. works for me! Drinks are moderately priced too. Great meet up spot and the bar upstairs is nice too! read more
