I never have any problems shopping at Stop & Shop. In fact, I find it an enjoyable experience. It's located in the Bay Terrace shopping mall so there is plenty of parking - a big plus for me. There are other shopping and eating venues to take advantage of at this outside mall. The employees are friendly enough and usually helpful. It's a good size supermarket so there is a large variety of meats, produce, typical supermarket items, and a deli. Everything is always fresh. Having said this, they are not perfect. Yesterday when I went, they did not have capers or filet mignon. Also, I always buy Marino's choolate Italian Ice, but they never have the coconut flavor in stock. C'mon guys, it's my favorite. I find the check out lines are sometimes long, sometimes fair. The prices are reasonable (get those coupons). Overall, I recommend Stop & Shop, and rate it a solid 4 stars. read more

The upper management of stop & shop hasn't recognized how important this grocery store is to the community. The produce & meat department are not well maintained and every week when they advertise a special, it's often out of stock early on. I have decided to go to Shop Rite in New Hyde Park. 12/1/25 - I woke up feeling extremely sick--body aches, burning eyes and skin, and freezing cold on the inside. My sister took me to Northwell Urgent Care in Bayside, where I found out I had COVID. After that, we went to the nearest supermarket, Stop & Shop in Bayside, so she could grab ingredients to make me a good homemade soup. I've been to this location before and didn't love it. It's not well lit, and I never buy produce from there for that reason. My sister went inside because I was too sick to move. She spent $71 just on soup ingredients. When I went to make the soup the next day, almost everything was outdated or spoiled: Butternut squash turning black Cauliflower already browning Wilted broccoli medley Diced turnips and artichoke hearts no good and to make it worse -- none of it was marked as "Manager's Special", which usually signals produce that's close to expiration. It was just sitting on the shelves like everything was fresh. We ALWAYS check dates and appearance first, but my sister was rushing because I was so sick. She didn't feel like driving back to return it, so the spoiled produce went straight into the garbage. Shame on the produce staff for not doing their job. That is unacceptable. Customers should not have to throw their money in the trash, especially when buying food out of necessity. Thankfully, the other items she bought were usable. I made a soup with a small stir fry veggie mix, chopped garlic, ginger paste, chicken bone broth, and my seared chicken legs I already had at home. There are stuff I get exclusively at Asian supermarket and then there are stuff I get only from American grocery stores. This is my go-to store for the American stuff. Their fruit is always good quality, meat is pretty good (once they got new refrigerator installed). They generally have good weekly sales but sale products do sell out quickly so you may need to come back another day to try again. If it's on the last day, the customer service can give rainchecks. The staff at the self checkout are always very pleasant. In all it's a pretty good store. read more

It's not that I don't like Stop & Shop, I do... just not this location. When it comes to selection, this is like a glorified Dollar Store. They are always out of items. They have a tiny pasta selection. it's almost impossible to find a can of baked beans without bacon and so few selections. As you walk around, you become aware how the middle aisles are dark and dinghy. It's depressing. The biggest problem is their ice-cream freezer that has been an issue even when it was Waldbaums. If you feel the ice-cream, it's so often mushy and, it tastes like it melted and was refrozen. The produce is poor quality and they are often out of things. The other day they were out of bananas. What big Supermarket chain runs out of bananas. As if this store isn't bad enough, the deli department people (with the exception of one person) seem miserable and waiting on customers seems to be the last thing they want to do. Absolutely no smile or friendly greeting. This is the only big supermarket around. We deserve better. read more

I get stared down at the individual belt self check out like I am a thief. I see a supervisor pretend she is helping on the end of a cashier used line like she is bagging but isnt bagging anything. . Then another time she stood behind me on the self check out line with one item. (if she was really buying one item she would go to the assistance register behind the glass and buy it) But she is just watching me to see if I am stealing. (after I was done scanning my items she never even bought the one item she walked away)I never steal. then another peaks around to watch me. If you think customers are stealing then HIRE MORE CASHIERS. It is extremely insulting. Check my receipt next time so I can sue you! After major renovations a few years ago customers seem to be paying for this in service quality that has gone down significantly. It seems that management is reluctant to hire additional help resulting in extremely long check out lines, cashiers are hardly available and if you dont use the automated check out lanes, good luck to you. The local manager seems to be oblivious to this situation, not showing much concern. Luckily, North Shore Farms in Whitestone, Queens offers a much bette r customer service, all check out lanes are accecible and open all day, and the overall product availabilty and Take Out food service (which Stop and Shop does not have) make it for me the place to go read more

This is hands down the worst grocery store in queens. They are often out of stock of normal, every day items and they NEVER have enough registers open. They changed multiple registers to self check- out and will often leave only two open registers to check people out. In a neighborhood with a significant elderly population, this is a problem. Despite some of the negative reviews, I always enjoy my shopping experience here. The grocery store is usually never crowded when I visit and the workers are polite and expeditious. The place has a nice, calm vibe to it and the shopping atmosphere is pleasant. The food is always fresh and the selection is diverse and extensive. The freezers were broken and the Haagen Dazs with promotion price were melted. The staff was nice and checked out quickly. I was very disappointed with this store. I have not been in here since Stop & Shop took over. The last time I was there was when it was Waldbaums years ago. I stopped in for a few specific items Stop & Shop carries that I purchased at another location when I was in town last time. Even though I was looking for specific items, I still went through every aisle hoping to find something unique. Doing so was irritating due to some kids being obnoxious and reeking of weed throughout the store. Whatever, the store is not at fault for that. I did not find any of the items I was searching for. I found the store to be smaller than other locations and I honestly do not remember the space of the store being so small. My best friend tested positive but was turned away from the ICU earlier this week. Every single person in my church group has lost someone to this disease. Yet this morning, I got to watch the produce manager at this store belt out his instructions to his subordinate with his mask dangling under his chin, loud enough to be heard across the section, much to the joy of whatever aersolized particles he was blasting from his pie hole. Carmine, if this message finds its way to you, maybe you need someone to explain this: you breathe out of your nose. Breathing out is how the virus spreads. Carmine is the reason why every single time I'm in the store there are at least three workers with their breathing holes partially uncovered, from managers on down. He's the boss. We all know how it goes. If Carmine stopped his employees when he saw them and corrected their mask usage, it would stop. No one wants to be yelled at by the boss. Speaking of soda, this week's 88 cent 2 liter soda (must buy 5) per 1 transaction per customer per store reward card was the best deal for this year's Super Bowl LII promotion! Super big and clean store! Easy to find items! Courteous employees at checkout! Plenty of parking outside! TIP: Need a quarter in order to use a shopping cart! This is my go to supermarket in Bayside! Have been shopping here for years! They always have sales and specials and the meat looks better than any other supermarket in the neighborhood. The staff and management for the most part are on point. Just like anywhere else they have occasional issues but overall have been happy here. Plus their reward points are like gold to me because I always use my points towards gas purchases. My last fill-up using my points took $1.30 off a gallon!!!! Shoprite sale items are almost always in stock. Rarely do i need to get a raincheck and prices are generally better. SR meat is always freshly packed and available. I am a big Trader Joe's and Whole Foods fan, but when I need a "regular" ubiquitous supermarket, I like Stop and Shop. They're open until 10 p.m. most days during the pandemic. It's clean and they have an organic brand, Nature's Promise, which is well priced and the products are good. The produce is fresh and they offer organic products. Lousy Management, zero customer service. Stopped in to shop for Holidays. To my delight I saw they had rib roast for 5.77/lb. I blurt a piece of meat that was originally 77.00 after sales and coupons should be around $36.00. My bill was $260+. When the cashier tried to apply the coupon, it didn't work., it seems the coupon was applied to two of the four steaks. I mistakenly thought this was going to be easy to remedy. But the very surly front office gal wanted to make sure I did not have a good experience raising her voice and telling the discount was not for the roast. As a grocery store goes this one is as good as any, but if you go there for other services such as sending money via Western Union this store does not do its job!! My husband, who has had no issue at this store many times before using cash to send money to his mom via Western Union, was turned away and told he had to do this transaction on "the app". Why? What app? This is a cash transaction! Since when is sending money using cash not a valid transaction for any store that provides Western Union services. We will not use this service here again. Located in Bay Terrace, this a smaller location than your typical Stop & Shop. I would say it is about a third of the size of a typical location. They do carry a wide variety of groceries, perishables and produce, but the prices are a little higher than ShopRite. Also, while this location is located in the Shopping Center, parking can be difficult to find during busier times like weekends in the evening, due to the fact there is an AMC Theater and Applebee's here as well and it gets full pretty fast. As far as the selection, while they do have a large selection, the amount of each is limited. So be ready to ask for a rain check for some items. Their digital coupons do save money, so be sure to download their app. Reason for 3 stars is their limited supply and prices. But still a better place to go than some of the independent grocers who charge way above market prices. read more

This location in Bayside never have the sale items you go there the first day of the sale and they're sold out! It is happened to us at least seven times then they give you a rain check that last two weeks and you never get the sale price! But what really gets me? When it gets dark out, they lock the main entrance doors and keep the doors open the exit doors so people are coming out with their shopping carts and you're supposed to get in the exit oncoming traffic. Can you imagine if there was a fire. I'm surprised they haven't gotten a summons yet, it's a dangerous condition and it's been going on for months! in other words, the front main entrance is locked so you're forced to go into the exit side and people coming out of the exit at the same time. It's a very bad situation. The other Stop & Shop are much better. They always have the sale items and you don't have to deal with a possible dangerous condition.! read more

Woah the parking lot looks really packed in front of the supermarket than usual on a weekend. This is a great change to the neighborhood. As I walked into Stop & Shop, on my left was a guy making balloon animals for the kids, tables of free tasting of Glazed Donuts, Salami, Apples, and etc. Yes I tried the ones that are safe for me to eat because of my food allergies. See the problem is, most people behind the counters in the deli area are off making packaged foods like chickens and other hot food, so there's one person stuck there to slice meats. The lines get ridiculously long, and slow. But when this sectioned pictured here are full with well priced deli selections, we can skip the long line.
