At first the store was alright...fairly clean, shelves well stocked, decent variety, decent checkout clerks ... and above all, competitive pricing. None of that holds true anymore. Now the store is filthy with spillage on the floor, much fewer items to choose from, shelves not well stocked, and some of the clerks act like they'd rather be elsewhere. Took over the Waldbaum's that used be here for many years. Pretty much the same layout and offerings. Store is generally well up-kept and well stocked. Checkout lanes move fairly fast even when it's busy. Biggest complaint may be parking during peak times because it's in a pretty large shopping center with several other stores of all kinds. Minor annoyance having to stick a quarter in a shopping cart to "rent it" but, hey, you get your money back when you put it back where it belongs - instead of up against someone else's car - and you will always have carts available. Come to think of it, that's not so annoying but you may not easily figure out what needs to be done to insert the coin and free the cart from the other cart onto which it's chained. Biggest plus may be their sizable deli area (as compared to other nearby competitors anyway) and usually helpful and efficient staff. I don't mind driving the extra few miles to come here instead shopping at other nearer by grocery stores so I guess that says something. read more

As bad as it can get, no improvement despite being at this shopping center for many years. If you think Waldbaums was a disaster, visit this one, empty shelves most of the time, not enough cashiers (all the times), produce quality below par, bakery section-poor selection of breads and rolls (try Shop Rite to see the difference), , poor -and limited selection of ice creams, store looks unkempt and disorganized, only plus-reasonable prices (again, try Shop Rite), parking a mess, plenty of carts but hard to find shopping baskets. Wish I could come up with a more positive review as the location is very convenient. read more

Jane the Cashier from cash register 10 at 3 pm on 7/29/19: You need learn some respect and manners when you're dealing with customers. You do not give a customer an attitude because they won't do your job for you. I experienced the worst customer service that I have ever seen in a bayside business in all my life at this location, today, July 29th, 2019. I purchased well over $300 worth of groceries from this Stop & Shop. At around 3:00 pm, I went to checkout lane #10 with a cashier named Jane working that checkout. I immediately start putting my groceries on the belt, and Jane asks if I have a Stop & Shop card. I take out my phone to show her the barcode on the store app, and all of a sudden I hear from Jane, with a rude attitude, "Uhhhh, are you gonna help me package these, or what?" I had only just finished transferring everything from the cart to the checkout belt. I was pulling up the Stop & Shop app, like she asked for. I intended to help package (put my groceries into the plastic bags) anyway, but it is not my responsibility, let alone my job. read more

The rotisserie chicken is literally -- *literally* -- the worst rotisserie chicken I've ever had. It was tasteless. No flavor. Produce is mediocre. The quarter for a shopping cart is annoying. I would be happy to pay a premium dollar for a nice selection of foodstuffs, but the brands and selection here are more geared for people who are OK with so-so product. I came here and they placed the wrong items under the wrong label price. 10 of my 40 items purchased had the same issue, meanwhile the average person is not going to hold up a line fighting each one. Cashier kept blaming me that I looked incorrectly so I went back... what did I find a pile of the one I grabbed under the incorrect label, gee by accident? The location looks exactly the same as Waldbaums. I love the convenience of this location but it doesn't stay open till 2 am like the previous establishment. Over all this store has everything you want when you want it. You need a quarter deposit for the shopping cart but you get it back when you return it but non the less it is annoying. read more

I can't stand the store, I hate to give a negative review but no matter when I go there what Daay the week what time of the day they're completely out of items they lack in selection, whenever something is on sale I always have to get it checked because when I get to the register they don't have it marked properly in the computer .. The tags are not in front of the discounted items I've had to take photos of the sale tax and show it to the cashier I've had to go to customer service and be reimbursed for money that the cashier check for me because she didn't mark something down and they wouldn't refund me at the register so I would have to wait online yet again. I avoid the store at all costs and only Will go in there to pick up a few items if I have to because it's convenient to my home but on a regular basis I drive 15 minutes away to go to a better grocery store with a much better selection friendlier sales people and fresher food what a poor choice of grocery store to put in this area that so populated and in such a beautiful neighborhood such a poor selection of a store maybe they should hire a new purchasing manager because whoever takes care of the store does a terrible job read more

I just couldn't believe how poorly stocked this store was in major items on my list! I asked for Zatarain's Cajun style rice mixes and they looked at me like I spoke a new language. One lady said she'd "heard" of it, and I told her that every other stop n shop in the area carries it. They had no cube boxes of tissues. This is the store where I had to report an employee for,being nasty when I couldn't find something. I went to Key Food in Whitestone and it's so different! The people who work there are helpful and friendly, and very respectful to customers. They also had everything I needed! I feel badly for people in Bay Terrace who are stuck with the worst supermarket in the area. read more

I'm the first person to acknowledge that we all have bad days and I am very empathetic to anyone who deals with the public as I deal with the public in my job also every day and we can all be severely tested by the public! Having said that, the managers of the Stop and Shop at Bay Terrace ought to talk with their employees to make sure they are on the right track and to make sure they are feeling okay when dealing with the public as that can be trying particularly with the people who work behind the deli counter. I was waited on by someone two Sundays in a row and this person was clearly in a bad mood and when I very politely and slowly gave her my order she rolled her eyes and was very short with me and barked "what kind of cold cuts do you want?!" I felt as if though I had been wasting her precious time and should have known all the different kinds of cold cuts that exist. I'm sorry but when you are dealing with the public you have to assume they don't. Good thing she doesn't work in my line of work she probably would have been severely reprimanded if not fired altogether. If I go there again and I happen to get her to wait on me I will let her wait on the next person or not buy anything at all if she is the only deli clerk working at that moment. I will not tolerate her poor attitude a third time in a row especially in front of other people. I'm sorry if she doesn't like her job but guess what... most people don't but that still does not give her the right to behave rudely to the public who pays her salary because we bring our business to the supermarket where she is employed. Otherwise, it's a good supermarket where most of the staff are professional and pleasant We are weekly shoppers and expect to be treated properly like any other supermarket shopper deserves to be treated. read more

Great products and awesome sales. My go to supermarket despite some powerful competition. They offer top products without all the fanfare and the prices reflect it. I'm a techie who goes to the store with just my phone. After shopping with an electronic wand, I check out and pay with Apple Pay! I can zip in and out in no time. Special occasion cakes, deli, and flowers have helped me out of a jam many times. You can find just about anything at reasonable prices. Just wish they sold the fruit that they take off the shelfs because of freshness dates. I asked by it's a corporate policy. Mostly a great neighborhood supermarket with excellent free parking and great staff. read more

This store is a disgrace! The selection is sparse and very often shelves are bare. Four out of five times I had to go to a second supermarket. I hear similar comments from most patrons. I hope another market opens up in the area soon. read more

I know many people would disagree but I preferred Waldbaums at this location. The employees weren't always the friendliest but guess what?!.. It's pretty much the same employees with the same ol' manager! I'm not saying they all stink, I've had plenty of good experiences there, that's why I always came back. The store was never fully stocked and if something went on sale you bet your bottom that they probably ran out BUT guessssss what?!??... It's only been a week but it seems not much has changed except the selection of items has gotten smaller. Milk section for example seems like it is half of the size, has nothing left, and this is a Friday night going into Saturday which I would assume is a huge shopping day. I will review again in a few weeks, maybe they just need to get used to the new store and protocol. read more

I am really surprised by some of the reviews for this newly opened Stop & Shop. The Waldbaum's in Bay Terrace, I felt, was always the best one in the area and since becoming Stop & Shop it's really upped the ant-y. The store is clean and has a great selection of produce, meat and non perishable items. Granted the store is usually pretty busy, the staff are helpful and friendly. If you try to go at the start of the week they always have the sale items and you honestly can't beat their prices. My spending on groceries has significantly gone down since Stop & Shop opened. Definitely the best store to go to in the Bayside-Whitestone area! read more

This store happens to be an old looking store, Blau store! When Waldbaums took it over from Grand Union, they did a complete remodeling from floor to ceiling., it was beautiful and we loved shopping their. As it Got older, IT NEEDED A TOTAL REFRESH and When S & S bought it they did nothing new to improve this store, except bare minimum, I think! This is Bay Terrace which happens to be a nicer than usual neighborhood, yet S&S took over this location and I think maybe they painted and that was all to update it. Everyone I know said wow this is probably going to be a beautiful store, but unfortunately we were all greatly disappointed! And to make it worse, the outside concrete is filthy, dirty old floor inside and I mean dirty walk by the produce isles! The floor has cracks, it's probably the ugliest store in the fanciest shopping center in Queens. Maybe if we are lucky we can get a Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Shop Rite or Fairway. I don't mind traveling for a nice store that I feel good in spending my money. I do shop here just never a big shopping, I go to one of those I mentioned. Just another example. In produce, I eat organic and would like to see arugula in a 16oz container, I buy about 2 bags a day of radishes and I was very happy until 2 days ago. I bought 3 bags and opened 1 bag to wash and put on a very big family salad but to my surprise I noticed they looked old and badly bruised, I mean terrible. I figured it was just that bag so I opened the 2nd bag I said wow what's going on and at the same time my daughter called me and I told her about the radishes. She told me it's not the same brand in the red lettering, it's now Top Crop brand. Open a package of Top Crop and you will shocked, the quality is the worst I ever saw. Anyway I tossed in the garbage and went to another chain store bought my beautiful radishes and other things $48.35 while I was their. Thanks Stop and Shop for showing me where I should get Quality. I could deal with the stinky smell from the seafood dept and lack of stocked items, but I am very disappointed that they do not have the SCAN IT program in this store. I inquired, and was told they are not getting it. I will continue to shop in New Hyde Park. A plus is the fantastic staff. read more

I'm from Massachusetts where the stop and shop are up to par.. the S&S over there take pride in their supermarkets and actually care about the little things.. this S&S absolutely doesn't care at all.. I've been coming here purely due to convenience.. and I couldn't bear it anymore.. I don't usually write review but wow this store is pretty bad.. the owner or management need to change because the shelf's are rarely restocked and options are very limited.. and to use a cart you need a quarter.. didn't know bayside was such a bad neighborhood that the shopping carts require a quarter to prevent theft *eye roll* read more

Great produce! Great sales! I am glad Stop and Shop moved to Bayside! The only thing I wish they had in this location was the scanning gun. I have been to another Stop and Shop where you can scan your items as you shop. When you get to the register, you scan the gun and everything pops up. It makes check out faster. This Stop and Shop took the place of the old Waldbaums. The store set up is similar but it's cleaner, check out is much better with updated cash registers and more staff, which creates less lines. I've tried many of the stop and shop brand items with no complaints. Fresh meat, produce and and bakery have been very good. Try the fresh pretzel bagels and rolls and the chocolate chip cookie bucket is the best. read more

When this location used to be Waldbaums, I hated it. I found the store to be messy and not the cleanest, but now that it is Stop&Shop, my thoughts completely changed. I think this store is set up great, has a wide variety of items, more than Waldbaums used to, and is much cleaner. I also think the prices here are way cheaper than when it was Waldbaums. I also really like the deli department-great service, fresh cold cuts, and I like that each order is in wax paper and a ziploc bag because it helps everything stay fresher longer. Parking can sometimes be a pain because it is in such a busy shopping center, but aside from that, I enjoy having this store so close to my house. read more

I looked up hours for this stop and shop location because I needed metro cards. Monday morning 6:30 am go to buy the metro cards only to find out customer service desk opens at 8 am. Here's the problem. No where on site does it mention that customer service opens at 8 and more importantly when I called on Saturday to say I would be in Monday there was no - oh btw customer service opens 2 hours later at 8. This Stop n Shop is great. Great quality and excellent prices. Plus the people who work there take great pride in making sure that the customer will have a good experience. Also the Stop n Shop brand products are better than some of the name brand ones at half the price. Those saying they miss the Waldbaums that used to be here are being nostalgic. I was frequent customer when this place was Waldbaums, and watched it slowly deteriorate, I think mainly because the managers were the the pits. At one visit I watched a women switching jumbo eggs to a large egg carton, I told the manager and he just shrugged his shoulders and said "What are gonna do" and walked away and never approached the lady. So when Stop and Shop opened I was elated, I came for the grand opening and lo and behold I see the same manager. It appears they are not familiar with the expression "A new broom sweeps clean, lets hope for the best. read more
