I follow a ketogenic lifestyle for the most part and I appreciate they have a lot of the staples of a keto diet and also the new items that are coming out saving me a trip to Milford. The older female manager up front is terrible. Should not be working with people. I go to leave at 9pm and she locked the door?? She tells me I have to use the other door when I parked closer to the side she locked. I have very bad knees from an accident a few years ago and she would not open it for me. 9PM, she had one of the exits locked an hour before close (fire hazard) and she had all the carts locked up with a chain. I had to carry all of my stuff to my car plus the extra walk because God forbid Ms. Sunshine can keep a door open until I don't know, they actually CLOSE? read more

This is a nice Stop & Shop. They have somewhat recently added an addition onto the store that has created a small, organic and natural health foods area. It's pretty nice and kind of makes you feel as if you have stepped into another store for a short period. It's located right at the entrance near the produce. Everything is neatly organized, there are constantly new products. The Peapod pick up service is just eh. The parking spots for this service are located kind of far from the storage containers that are holding the grocery orders. The workers have to load them on a cart to wheel them to your vehicle and then subsequently takes longer to do unlike at other Peapod pick up locations. I do enjoy the indoor bottle return room. Although small, the machines typically are never out of service. I think this is because they are inside and right near the customer service deck and are always attended to out of location. read more

Yesterday 5/27/22 I purchased Lilly's Assorted Hamantashen cookies at the Branford Stop & Shop bakery that were priced at $4.99. (See photo). When I got home I was shocked to discover the sticker price was ignored and instead I was charged $6.49 which is an additional 30% increase, a $1.50 increase,. To increase the price on older items already ticketed and on the shelf seems unfair to the consumer especially in these difficult economic times. 5/31 Response: Filling out a Stop and Shop form or calling to discuss this issue is redundant, because you already know the nature of my complaint from my review. Posting the company's corrective action plan, ie) the steps the company will take to ensure this issue does not happen again would probably be of greater interest to the readers. read more

We left Big Y because it was too unorganized & stops took forever. We started our monthly shopping at Stop & Shop in Branford. There were only 2 open registers & neither were wheelchair isles We spent nearly $500 and our cashier Gail was visually attitude annoyed. I don't think I'll go back again. read more

I very often shop at stop and shop in various locations. This store has a great variety of things, I like weekly deals because sometimes you can get something good for better price. They have nice selection of specialty cheeses and meats. Sometimes store could be cleaner, sometimes there's a weird smell. This is your basic overpriced New England grocery store and nothing special is mostly the reason. It has some gas, app, and sale incentives which I've noticed is trend in the area. Best to shop the sales and find your bulk elsewhere unless price is no issue. It's a convenient location along the highway and nearby diner/gas stations so is a good rest and restock place for those on the highway. This review reason for such a low rating is all due to staff. We picked up a few items and got checked out with self checkout. I had a question and needed help with the card/app reward. It must have been shift change or something because we approached a staff for help. She said to wait right by counter and she would help us out. And we waited. We kept waiting as she and I counted 5 other staff (some in uniform others not but they were big customers) completely ignored us. Going so far to step around us, not look at us, or have loud conversations in front of us as we waited. I contemplated just leaving at least 3 times. When she did help us, she made me uncomfortable as I showed her the app and she took my phone and moved it away from me. I disliked having someone take my phone and just leave it on her counter. Since it was no longer logged in or useful she just left it out of both of our reach. In the end, she didn't even fix or do anything to help. She gave us another random card but nothing was resolved. So 1 Star for actually helping and general conduct as first time customers may not be any more customers read more

I stopped into your store on a whim because I couldn't find a florist nearby. I was visiting a friend and needed some fresh flowers. I picked up two bouquets of assorted stems and a random vase. The woman behind the counter was so helpful and friendly. She filled the vase, cut the stems to fit properly and then proceeded to arrange them so they looked like a professional arrangement. The closed sign was up at her station so i wasn't sure if her register was open. She then put the vase into a box with some tissue and rung up my order. I know that Stop and Shop isn't well known for their floral arrangements but this woman really helped me out in a pinch. That was a very trying day for me and she had no idea what it meant to be treated with some simple human kindness. Her name is Nicole and I just want to thank her. read more

Good customer service. Pleasant, helpful AND put the groceries in bags. Unlike, BIG Y that feels it is the customer's job. Prices are much lower than BIG Y. Meat selection here is excellent. I thought shopping at Stop & Shop was the worst possible experience anyone could have in life until I tried to return bottles there. Paul Blart the bottle return policeman wannabe harassed me about having "too many" bottles. He made me return a few bags back to my trunk and wouldn't let me use a carriage to carry them. He's generally annoying and makes you wanna slam your head on the wall. I didn't see him bothering anyone else and other people had 8-10 bags of bottles. He seriously needs to get a life and shame on Stop and Shop for hiring people that treat customers that way. The machines barely function. Every time I put a bottle into the machine it gave me a five cent receipt so I went into the store with like 40 five cent receipts. The floors were so sticky and disgusting and so bad that one of the receipts fell down on the floor and became glued to the sticky floor beneath me. Everyone was complaining, swearing etc. I told the guy next time I'll just throw them in the garbage it'll be easier. Reason # 501 Stop And Shop East Haven is the most horrible store that ever existed. I will never return bottles at this establishment ever again. I'd rather repeatedly slam my hand in the door. Then the cherry on top I had to wait in the store 20+ minutes to return my bottle receipts. Yay I got 5 dollars, not even worth all that torture! read more

This is definitely NOT my favorite Stop & Shop location. I usually find the parking lot full, because it shares its plaza with 3 or 4 other business'. The condition of this store is really not welcoming, clean or appetizing like it should be. The floors always appear dirty and unwashed, many times I see products put back in aisles they don't belong in - just carelessly left on the shelves, the produce doesn't look very fresh, and this location does not seem to have as many selections as most other stores. While it is certainly an older store that hasn't been renovated, I feel that their floral department is huge and beautifully kept. The bakery personnel are very friendly and even offer samples, which is great. The baked goods are just ok from here, not as good as my West Haven store. Prices are higher in this area and I would expect more of this location as far as cleanliness, selection of products and happier customer service associates? I usually shop in the evenings here (only when necessary) and the shift supervisor Dean is very friendly, nice and has been super accommodating. Most of the time they do have enough registers open so the wait time in line is short, which is great. The cashiers are ok, not super friendly. Very often, which is too often, their store Redbox is not working which is a BIG inconvenience to me. I guess the immediate and lasting impression of this store is neglected. It really looks and feels like no one there CARES about its appearance or cleanliness or even happy employees. Such a depressing shopping experience. Produce: asparagus featured @ 3.99 but no water in trays. Tops were brown & fuzzy & had slight rotting smell. Bagged salads not properly identified on shelf sticker---way off. Specialty meat section: not staffed; marinated steak tips not priced. When I got a meat cutter's attention & asked the response was: " whatever they are marked is the price." Brand availability: S&S's brand has eased out so many of my favorite brands. Example: Soup selection is very diminished to make room for S&S soups which narrows the selection. I went to stop and shop today around 7:55am. I walked every isle and passed over 10 employees. From the produce department to the bakery department. NOT open person said good morning or hello. I was greeted by a employee smoking in front of the store. The only person that even smiled was the starbucks lady. She was nice. The store is always clean but no one ever smiles or thank you for their business. Someone needs to have a morning meeting with staff on how to give good customer service. read more

At the fish counter today, I had to wait until the lady decided it was time to reluctantly ask me what I wanted. The answer was cod, were there any loins? only one wrinkled loin of suspect brown colour was on view. No she said, curtly. May I have 11/2 lb of cod filet? the response was 1.8 but given the lack of support at the counter, I took it. I think it is the first time in my long life that I have eater rubber. I am a keen, and careful, cook. Nothing wrong with my method. Fortunately, I had also cooked some very nice vegetables. It became a vegetarian meal. Your Eveia brand all natural cheese cake thins made from 100% Greek yogurt -60 CAL each! I served these at my last gathering-every person in the room will be coming to S&S to get them-stock up! Went back following day -you were sold out! I would buy them all and freeze them! Buyers 270' healthy chocolate ice cream- so good -husband ran to S&S purchased everyone you had on the shelf-entire container 270 cal-Great job! I asked your Dairy people to please get Dannon Light & Fit Greet yogurt-with Zero artificial sweeteners-that's a test BTW, everyone carries this now, I personally buy 15 at a time. Your Sugar Free brands in your cookie Isle - are now well stocked and terrific, I would give you 100 % if you improved cracker section by adding a grocery store staple kavli crispy thin crackers the healthiest best tasting cracker on the market. Areas to improve -crackers and breads, healthier pancake and baking mixes. Buckwheat pancake mix is a good example-light Bisquick etc. light baking mixes in general. Your Breads are still lacking greatly -Italian bread is still cold at prime pick up dinner time and so thick & heavy "doughy" and not fresh enough to bring home for dinner! Can you get real Italian Bread? I know a distributor from NYC who delivers to many restaurants on Shoreline that may help you. Better training for bakery staff desperately needed. I knew more about your products then they did. Can you get Healthy bread choices low carb (low glycemic index)- is different from gluten free. Yesterday, I had a terrible experience dealing with two supposed managers and the Solution Center. Generally, the cashiers and people working at the butcher, fish and deli counters are nice. However, I was treated very poorly by other staff members. I had a problem with a gift card and the solution center individual made no eye contact with me and when she did, it was to roll her eyes about my issue. The other manager offered me "NO" solutions and the 3rd manager ridiculed me regarding the cost of my issue and strode off in two tantrums. I felt mistreated and under-valued. I left my empty cart and went to Big Y. I WILL NEVER, EVER SHOP HERE AGAIN! read more

Stop & shops grocery pick up is horrendous. Spots designated pickup are often taken. Every time I call the number published on the sign in the lot to tell them I'm ready for the grocerys to be brought out the phone rings no answer. I have to dial 0 for customer service to chase them down then they take forever to come out!!!! This is a paid service because it is supposed to be a time saver not waster! read more

I go to the Stop & Shop at least six times a week since I live in the neighborhood. It normally is extremely dirty in the evening crew are downright rude. The day crew is much nicer and helpful and will actually acknowledge you when you're checking out. I was just telling somebody the other day how dirty the store I was in and that it smelled when you walked in and then they found the spider in the grapes... I was in Stop & Shop that very next day and it was cleaner than I have ever seen it. So it takes a spider to get that store cleaned, interesting. We stopped here to buy special dietary restriction items for a guest coming in. We spent $140.40 about 1/2 was special items. We were on our way to pick up our guest. At the check out, the clerk began to eye us and from our items, we must be "out of towners". I had shopped at this particular location for over a decade. I had not been in this location for awhile. While my husband searched for the Stop and Shop card, the clerk became very rude. I realized after I tried to give her my phone number, when she replied: "I don't want that!" How rudeness was a way of seeing and treating certain customers for this clerk and that she had been "serving" customers for a LONG time. My husband later said the clerk was making faces at customers behind us, like "Get these people out of my aisle". In a day of robots serving hamburgers, on-line orders of food items, shopping in person in grocery stores where clerks make you feel awful after you leave a store like this one, makes you glad for automated check-outs.
