Not a great store. Forget the garden section. Plants are kept outside in the sun, and are bone dry. I was hoping to get some lilies and a few other perennials for my cabin. As for inside, shelves are kinda low in stock, and don't even get me started in the bread section. Pretty much every single bag I picked up had mold on it. Products aren't rotated. They sell sick fish. I went to Walmart today & found lots of dead fish I spoke to an employee & asked to speak to a manager, who never came. The surrounding area smell of dead fish. My least favorite Walmart store. I will travel farther to shop at a Walmart because I really do like the Walmart chain of stores. The Branford store is dirty; however more off-putting than that is some of the employees and a manager that just doesn't care. The associate in the Electronics department didn't have any desire to offer any type of customer service. Just awful. That was my last trip there. Corporate Walmart should take a look at this store. Walmart is Walmart all around, right? Wrong. If I could give zero stars, believe me...I would. This establishment is worse than ANY Walmart I have ever been to. It houses the RUDEST employees, and the dirtiest store. And that's saying something because I live near one of the most dangerous in the US. The clothes in the children's department were actually dirty. Little girl's sweatshirts were stained and many items were crusted with who knows what. Disgusting. Left that department pretty damn quick. I wandered to the electronics section to find a charger for my mom's phone for her. Found a charger, (with others) hanging up in one of the aisles. Cool, a charger for 2 bucks and change, score right? I walked over to the electronics register to ask the worker a question regarding the use of it (make sure it fit her phone) and the price. Yep--great, everything works and it's cheap. I toss it into the shopping cart and continue shopping. Fast forward to check out time. Either wait in the extremely long self check out line or wait in one of the lines for the two open registers. Miraculously while deciding, a third register opened up and we raced over to it. Check out is going fine, until she rings up the charger. It comes to $10. I try to calmly explain to the cashier the price and she she cuts me off, asking me how many bags are in my cart. (Connecticut charges 10 cents per bag). I repeated what I said regarding the charging and she cuts me off AGAIN, with major attitude. She calls someone else over to ask about the charger, this woman asks me the price difference, and when I tell her she goes "oh no. That's way too different". So she goes to electronics. Comes back, "they never said nothing about this charger, so someone is lying". EXCUSE ME? How are you about to stand there and confront a customer saying they're lying?? I told her forget about the charger, I cashed out and left. Never will I ever step foot in this Walmart again. read more

A decent Walmart, not my fav. We stopped in last month in search of a corn hole game set that the internet said was in stock at this location. Of course the website must have lied because the exact aisle and shelf it told us that it was located at, it was not. After hunting someone down in the Online Order Pickup Area, there seemed to be no one else working in the whole rest of the store at the time. They finally figured out where the item could possibly be, on the other end of the store. I've also shopped here on other occasions for baby items, especially formula. I purchased all I could of the Ready-To-Use Simliac Alimentum bottles. I come back 8 days later to buy more and there were still none restocked after my purchase. The parking lot is super big. Even on Black Friday, I don't think all of those spaces get filled. Plus, it's set back pretty unnecessarily far. I mean, this isn't the worse Walmart there is. Thankfully, the Subway scent doesn't seem to waft through this store like it does at most other locations. Locally, I prefer the Guilford one sometimes depending on what I am in search of. read more

Awful time trying to return an item. Heidi, store manager at the time treated me like I stole the item that I was returning. Walmart should play the tape that I'm sure they on file for the Walmart in Branford on 1.15.2023 for how not to treat a customer. It was so embarrassing. I own a business in New Haven and shop Walmart always, but I will think twice about patronizing the Branford store. After countless hours on the phone speaking with customer service I went back to the store on 1.16.2023 and waited over 1/2 hour for a someone just to come and speak to me! I hate Walmart. In Torrington I had no reason to ever set foot in there because literally right behind Walmart is Target. Down here, I'm not so lucky. Wallyworld is a mile and a half from me. Target is in North Haven. All the sads. That said, this Walmart doesn't inspire immediate rage like the one I used to live by, so if I forget to swing by Target on the way home (I drive by on 91 everyday) I don't feel completely angry with myself if I have to end up coming here instead. read more

Never going back again after having been a very good customer for many years. Never any cashiers, so you have to do Walmart's job for them - you know, taking your money. On the way out, they searched my bag to compare with the receipt - as though I was stealing from them. That you are stealing, is their presumption. A fairly large Wal-Mart tucked away on a side street off of Rt. 1. It has a large but crummy looking parking lot and the whole area looks like a good place to get killed after dark. The store is typical Wal-Mart, lots of stuff at a good price. Good place to find cheap sweats or socks, they always seem to have a million of them at a reduced price. The store also has a pharmacy, optical center and a place for junk food. Not the cleanest store in the world but then most Wal-Marts aren't. Still a good place to buy cheap crap. read more

This store was great the first few times I shopped there but lately the frozen vegan and vegetarian food has been rotten. It literally tastes as if it has been thawed and re-frozen to the point of not being edible. I don't advise purchasing food from these people. read more

Recently renovated to add more groceries but it seems like there is less selection available for many items and missing stock, i.e. empty space on shelves. The women's department is torn apart, the Christmas area of the store looks like a tornado went through and they left it. One of the consistently worst Walmarts around. I can't believe I own stock in this company and that it has done so well. You would never know it from this sad excuse of a store. So many people were against it coming here worrying that it would put so many other little guys out of business. They seem to be trying to help the little guy by being so bad. Empty shelves for weeks on end are the hallmark of this operation. What happened to their super inventory system? Walk into the Guilford store and you wonder if you are in the same company store. Even after the remodel, you can find half of what is on your shopping list. I recently moved from Guilford CT to Branford CT. I was very satisfied with the Guilford Walmart location, the store seems very organize and the customer service was great. I was excited about the Branford location because it is a bigger store however, in this case bigger does not mean better. I was extremely surprised with how RUDE the employees are especially in the customer service area and not just to me but other customers as well. If I have to make an exchange or a return I have to be prepared to have an employee roll their eyes at me, and loose all patients towards me if I have any further questions on anything such as, how to locate an item. I was especially surprised when I saw an employee taking a person call and swearing on her cellphone in the middle of the sales floor! The management seemed to not care at all about these issues and just like the employees, was extremely rude! The store alone is very sloppy, the locations of all products are all over the place, and I always see some sort of trash on the shelves such as empty Dounkin Donuts or Starbucks coffee cups, empty water bottles, and candy wrappers. I have given this location a few more visits and to be completely honest it only gets worse everytime. From walking in, to checking out, I still receive horrible customer service every time and it makes the shopping experience just awful. Every time I speak about this location, it seems every one I talk to has received the same experience as I do. The only positive feedback I can give this location is the greeting women named Joann, she is the only employee I see that always has a smile on her face when greeting me at the door.
