On 9/21 I came to Stop & Shop because I have been wanting buffalo style wings for two days. I looked all over SS and this is what I found, a small bag (pictured). If I went to BJ's I can get a bigger bag. So here's my comparison - Stop & Shop: $11.99 for 22 oz ~$0.545 per ounce - BJ's: $21.99 for 64 oz ~$0.343 per ounce, that's a 36% savings at BJ's. While Stop & Shop is banking on impulse buys and smaller package margins my delayed gratification and bulk economics of BJ's win out, which makes me a winner. I refuse to purchase from Stop and Shop that day but they may have a better bargain another day. I'm so grateful that I took a course in economics it helps with smart decisions making and impulse purchases. read more

Came to this location today to get some last minute things for thanksgiving dinner. I grabbed a cart before entering the store and the cart seemed to be old and a little hard to push. Especially after putting my items in it was definitely taking me for a ride. I got some basic things from juice to veggies. They didn't have any just egg left (Vegan eggs) I had such a hard time finding the pancake mix. I literally have to go back I didn't get more things. I didn't get fruit as I like to because some looked ok but some didn't it looked as if it was to ripe. Some looked mushy and some looked scarce. Next time I hope to get a good fruit platter. All employees wear a mask and have to go to aisle 21 to check out.. There is someone there directing you to the register. My cashier had me run two cards for some reason I'm actually monitoring my cards to make sure I don't get charged twice Sind the first card actually did work. read more

Good selection, especially vegan items like meat and cheese substitutes. I gave 2 stars due to some of the rude cashiers I have encountered at this location. I'm so tired of the rude cashiers that act like you are ruining their life by checking out or asking a question. I know it sucks to deal with the public most of the time but this is getting ridiculous now. Everything is way more expensive so I'm already annoyed to begin with and then I encounter a very rude elderly blonde cashier that majes rude statements under her breath and doesn't bother to help bag or do anything beyond stare into space angrily. No thank you nothing. What is going on? The bar is so low these days. I don't feel like getting an attitude especially when spending a ton of money and bagging my own order , and when I confronted her for being so rude of course then I became the lunatic for not wanting to be treated like . If people don't like their job or their life they should make a change and not take it out on customers! This is my stop and shop of choice for a number of reasons: 1). For my eco friendly people who recycles, they have several recycling machines for plastic bottles, cans, and glass. What I truly like about it is the machines are usually working and if not, you can always call it in and they'll fix it. 2). The customer service is usually pretty good 3). If you're unable to go to a florist, you can come here for a last minute floral arrangement. They usually have an arrangement of roses, daisies, tulips, etc. I'm pretty sure I'll be back again. read more

I have been a loyal customer of this shopping location which used to be pathmat and is now stop and shop. I have to say I am considering changing stores because the variety has diminished significantly. For example, I have gone to this location on several occasions to find almost no dishwashing detergent like cascade, and the Goya rice options have changed from many to 2. Also now they are stocking with smaller size options, (if it is in the store), requiring the need to purchase way more. I used to see this as my one stop shop but now I am disappointed with the direction this store is going. I hope things get better. read more

First is a cashier by the name of Anthony, he had a VERY difficult customer ahead of me and Anthony was still as polite and patient with him (customer was arguing over blueberries...) and even after the difficult customer left he was still so polite to me and the other customers! Stop & Shop is loosing a star because there's never any bags in the dispensers in the produce isles. Why do I have to walk three isles away to find bags? Then I end up ripping off more than I need because I'm living in fear I won't find them again. Loosing another star because the chip isle is the FIRST isle in the store. All the way past pharmacy, toiletries and greeting cards. Who arranged this place? How does it make any sense to put popcorn bags on the back wall in produce and chips 10 isles away?? That's not the only product out of place here either! It's a mess. Pathmark closed and Stop & Shop just slapped their name on the front of the store without changing anything. If I didn't live close I wouldn't shop here as often. Losing another star because they never have a large selection of anything! I made ribs today and couldn't find short ribs that weren't pre seasoned. Sometimes I can't find thin cut chicken cutlets. (Not like I can't cut them myself! It's just the principle.) Don't even bother with your shopkick in here. You'll end up running around like a crazy person! Kind of like the people that try to run you over in the parking lot. The best part is the donation bin in the corner of the parking lot for boys & girls club. I can dump my clothing frequently! read more

I just spent $12 on cooked barbecue ribs. When I brought them home, they were like jerky! It's was beyond terrible and I wouldn't feed this to my dog. Did they think covering up this mess with barbecue sauce would be the answer? I have brought ribs from other locations and don't think they would ever put something like this out for sale. Store itself is fine. Has everything I need. I was there last night between 10:30 and 11:00. I walked down the soda aisle, I was walking towards the gallons of water. Whoever worked last night, the guy that was putting out the cases of water was rude. He had his skid there and he was about to unload the cases of water. Which is fine, but when I went to walk by, he didn't even make any kind of attempt to move the skid slightly so I can pass. I walked over it but I felt this guy could have moved it slightly just to be a nice guy. I'm not saying to move it completely. Just a little. Then I had to get back to my cart and at this time he was unloading the water, I waited but he didn't care, I had bottles of sodas in my hand plus the gallon of water. I did end up walking down a different aisle to get back to my cart. I just think he is very rude. I know it's late and he has a job to do. I get it. But he needs to be aware of his surroundings and the customers that are shopping there. A little act of kindness goes a long way. read more

I have been disappointed with this store before but decided to give them another try. This week they ran a promotion for a free, five-pound, box of Matzoh with a $75 purchase. So, I went there Monday morning, 2 1/2 days into the promotion. They were out of stock but assured me it would come in and they would honor my raincheck because I already made the required purchase. It is now Wednesday, 2 days before the holiday, and they are still out of stock, but customer service continues to say it will be coming in, but they have no control on the delivery. Let's face it... who needs matzoh after the Passover holiday. I can go to another store and buy the matzoh. A few dollars isn't going to make or break me... but as before, I know I still cannot trust this store to honor its promotions. I guess it's back to King Kullen for me. read more

One thing I can say is that this store is alot cleaner than the Pathmark previously there and has alot more merchandise. It has There are things I do not like such as the new general manager Bruce being absolutely terrible. I really think he is on drugs with the way he acts and it seems neither customers or workers like him. Doesn't have a good relationship with anyone at all. Does not communicate with the workers but will often go behind their backs and tell lies about them to supervisors. When he tells people what to do he just says "go do this" and barely acknowledges them, I assume he barely knows anybody's name. Anybody who interacts with him for a short while sees right away he is a conniving person and not very genuine. he smiles like a snake Recently he has started unpopular policies for customers. Bruce has told customers that they are no longer allowed to use coupons that they print online in the store. Since he is never around, the workers catch flack for this because people find it hard to believe but it is true. if you ask him about this policy, he will give you a half ass answer and then try to change the subject by asking you about what you think of the new store compared to pathmark. another policy he has started is he no longer allows customers to pay for gift cards with credit or debit cards. People are no only allowed to pay for gift cards with cash. thank god though that Chickie from the pathmark that closed is no longer working there. laziest person i ever met. always catching an attitude when the cashiers would call her on the phone to ask for help and roll her eyes. would have her friends and family call her on the phone when she was supposed to be working. To nobody's surprise within 1 week of stop and shop opening in november, she had a "panic attack" and decided to quit since she was surprised for the first time in years she actually had to do work. She was previously getting paid for doing nothing and the manager jerome girelli was not calling her out for it, he just gave her a green light. she still shops at the stop and shop from time to time. hopefully she was able to get her pension for doing nothing the past 20 years. read more

It looks like the first two reviews of this place were from disgruntled old employees. No regular customer knows that much about a grocery store's management, employees, etc...grow up and move on guys. Anyway, the store is definitely cleaner and I was glad to see that Stop & Shop retained some of the old faces who used to work here. One guy, who I assume is the manager, is actually a real nice guy, always walking around asking if anyone needs help finding anything since the store is completely rearranged. Otherwise, it's not too much different. Just an updated version of the old store, and thankfully, significantly cleaner. And the deli department FINALLY carries Boars Head. I love this store. Workers in every department always recognize my wife and I and acknowledge us. Always have what we are looking for, or give rain checks for sale items. We shop on Saturday morning, so obviously they are stocked up. I wouldn't expect to go late in the week and be annoyed that they ran out of an item. But yesterday at the register as I was with 2 other people we were paying separate and I had a stop and shop card I was gonna give to my sister in law so she can use it like we always do and the women named Patricia said "Too Late" . Been coming here because if the convenience since i moved in the area. Not worth it. Horrible service, rude employees that cut you off, sit on their phones and dont move out of the way. Deli department is extremely slow!! Dont waste your time! The chasiers are careless I've had to go back numerous times and they suck at bagging unless the manager is near by. I was always a faithful Pathmark shopper before it turned to Stop and Shop. The other day I went in to see the new store and pick up a few items. They seem alot busier than Pathmark was and the day I went in they didnt have anymore plastic bags so my grocery was put in empty boxes. Also when i ordered from the deli kiosk because the line was so long they called my number and when i get there my order wasnt even done becaue they ran out of the stuff i selected. Instead of someone telling me they left my order half done. The lines to check out are ridicules. It seems that the handful of times I go they dont have enough cashiers to ring you up and when they pack your groceries they squish everything in 1 bag. Not happy with this location. I have gone into other Stop and Shops and if need be will have to drive to the West Hemsptead location instead of the Franklin Square one. read more

My final shopping experience at this store was a late night gallon of milk. After pushing past the expired gallons, I found one that wasn't. Next morning I poured some into my coffee and it curdled. The worst! Lines are always ridiculous due to an inefficient amount of registers open & if you try to go later in the evening it's still a headache. They have 1 register open & all the self checkouts are closed! Prices aren't even as good as pathmark either.. Oh & make sure you check your broccoli crowns.
