Actually happy this place is close to my mother's house. The eggs are a little higher than trader joes aka trader hoes. I came here because my mother needed eggs and soda. They really delivered with how clean the store was. I'm very happy with their in store shopping, the people working here were super nice. They showed us the soda area really quick, too bad they didn't have the ginger ale we needed. But I was very happy how put together the store was. Normally this store is super packed in Queens. Pros: This Lidl has a very large miscellaneous isle and more ice cream varieties. Raos tomato sauce at a bargain $2 lower than other markets. Cons: A big drawback is their messy isles and over ripe avocados and bruised apples. Maybe I came at a bad time but this location is quite untidy. read more

I was in this dirty and poorly run store today for a few items. I was not provided with a receipt as my transaction completed and was then cursed and screamed at by a supposed manager when I made clear that I needed one. He actually asked me 'is it so hard to just take it' when it had not printed. It took 20 minutes to get a receipt...a reprint from the computer system, I guess. Even if I had not used a card to pay, I needed one as there is ALWAYS a mistake in their favor. I'm still shaking. This nasty man also told me not to come back to 'my store' after poking his finger in MY face and screaming. There is always an issue...mismarked items are typical.....this was a first though. I've contacted corporate...this store needs help. I see here how poor the reviews are...not good. read more

Let the Lidl takeover continue! Honestly, I was a little hesitant and kind of opposed to the idea of Lidls all over Long Island, but it's slowly starting to be something I can accept...at least for me and my current needs. Even this smaller-sized Lidl in Franklin Square I recently visited fulfills the requirements of reaching a four star review. It's funny because the larger Lidl in East Meadow only got three stars from me (partially because the setup was a little too haphazardly). Franklin Square houses a tiny Lidl, in comparison, which knocks out some spatial issues, though not all (plus they have the most interestingly unique frozen food section I've ever seen). I went on an off time to peruse which means I can't speak for those peak food-shopping moments in association with tentative maneuvering issues, but it worked while I was there. What I can say is I truly missed Best Market and was at a loss for where to acquire all of the produce I would get there. Yeah there are plenty of big name stores, but prices aren't always reasonable. In steps Lidl with their cheap bags of baby spinach, mini sweet peppers, cucumbers, onions, and other veggie items that have helped to make the transition away from Best a little easier (and perhaps even cheaper!). The fun little bonus of finding a few Lidl brand items or even stuff you just don't see elsewhere adds to the enjoyment of the store. Two case in points are their interestingly tasty salad dressings (sun-dried tomato vinaigrette is one) and the Farmridge Foods atomic spicy pickle chips which I haven't seen/found since the heydays of Fairway. You never know what you'll find here. And that last sentence can be taken both ways. Lidl has unique items and can probably suffice as a place for some to solely shop at, but there are several holes in their variety of brand choices and more eclectic needs. They're worth a try in finding whatever it is that you're in search of to complete the recipe you're making for dinner, but I wouldn't necessarily hold my breath if the item isn't a usual find in most stores and/or you need a specific brand. Beyond that, Lidl does the trick. Overall, this Franklin Square Lidl definitely fulfills most produce needs and gives you the opportunity in finding some intriguing name brand items all at respectably reasonable prices. They'll never be my one stop shop (too much love for Trader Joe's, sorry), but consider this Lidl that isn't too far from my abode to be a new spot that I'll frequent...that is until they open the one in Garden City Park which is just a smidge closer, heh heh. read more

I just left lidl Franklin Square and it is disgusting. The Board of Health should shut them down. There is a strong stench of urine and some of the meat smells rotten when you open refrigeration. The floors are filthy. couldn't post without a star! read more

I came to this location which I've come to many many times as you can see from my previous check ins and photos. I usually come and return my cans / bottles without an issue however today was a completely different story. From when I walked in I noticed the cashier with a look on his face as I came to return my bottles I ignored it and stood online. When it was my turn I handed it over and gave a number to how many bottles I had which I always do, he firstly looked like he wanted to open the bag and recount which wouldn't have made any difference he called for a manager which is normal since they use a key card to allow the cashier to do this transaction and he mentioned to her not me there's bottles in here we do not take.. I immediately asked "which ones" he started loading them on the belt and the supervisor went and got a cart for him to put it in there instead. Now they ONLY take bottles that they sell I've neverrrrrr heard of this before as I have came and returned bottles and cans before without an issue. The supervisor basically called me a liar telling me "we never have taken any other bottles and that never happened" she was disgusting and rude! I just had to ask her where she got trained because the lack of customer service was unreal! She asked did I try to return them outside I said No because I was told I could just bring them inside from someone and I've always just done that. She also told me no they don't take them inside. When I asked for a name she hesitated to tell me LIZ she spelled out L - I - Z and I said "you could have said that" her reply "I did the first time". NASTY, NASTY - NASTY! She is just as bad as the cashier that put my other bottles in the cart and pushed it to the side and went about his business after I asked for a bag. I asked for corporates number she said it will be on your receipt LIES! I asked to speak to someone else whom was helpful and gave me the info I needed! I will never be coming back to this place they treated me so disrespectfully I will be calling corporate and making a formal complaint. Honestly I felt like since I was recycling she and her cashier judged me it's either that or the head wrap. KEEP YOUR MOLDY FOOD!!!!!! This review is for this particular location, not for Lidl in general. I actually like Lidl, they have some crazy great deals on organic produce, especially avocados. Their kombucha is 1/2 the price of what I normally pay at Whole Foods (same brands), and they even carried Rao's pasta sauce at a much MUCH cheaper price. Prior to today, I have only been to the Lidl in East Meadow, and after today, that's the one I'm sticking to. I have been here before back when it was a Best Market. It wasn't the most modern & updated supermarket, but it was quiant and I never had a problem. The way Lidl set up after they look over is a DISASTER!!! As soon as I walked in, or attempted to walk in, there was a traffic jam. They rearranged the aisles oddly, and no one can get past anyone else if they have a shopping cart. They were also restocking the shelves and so boxes were also taking up space as well. And once you finally had enough of this chaos, get ready to meet the FINAL BOSS of frustration: the checkout line. The way they positioned the registers is NOT gonna work. Customers were lined up inside all the aisles, my line started where the frozen foods section was. After the line started moving we all had to make a sharp left turn to where the beers were. The way they had the checkout in Best Market was efficient. And they really need to invest in some warning posters ( ie: Danger: Flying Boxes). I was walking down the Christmas/Holiday aisle, and there was a guy stocking the shelves. Just as I walked past him (and I was not in his way nor did I disrupt him) he threw an empty box at me aggressively. I hope it was an accident but he didn't even apologize. He just made eye contact and then acted like nothing happened. Unfortunately there was a road block in the next aisle (people were lined up for the register) and I had to walk past the box thrower again. This time I made it w/o getting hit but the guy did say with a lack of sincerity "oh yeah sorry bout before". I picked up a jelly donut when I walked past the bakery section, I considered it a reward for the headache I endured trying to shop there. I was all ready to enjoy my donut, when I cut it in 1/2 and NOTHING. NO JELLY. Ok, so I lied there was a teeny tiny minuscule dot of jelly. Like so small you need a microscope to see it. This store name is fun to say (Lee-Dull). It's also fun to shop here! Stepping inside feels like you've suddenly walked into Europe, and that's because Lidl is a German-owned chain. This is the first Lidl I've ever been to, and overall I really enjoy it! The shell of this storefront is small, so groceries and stock are a bit limited. For instance, I was hoping to pick up some seedless mandarin oranges, but they only had the version with seeds. I also wanted to pick up some potato rolls, but they were out of stock. The beer section is another example where you'll find a number of options but maybe not the one you're looking for. If you don't have much care for which brand you want it's really not an issue at all. This place is perfect for those looking for some great prices, need to pick up something quickly, or want to try something new. Speaking of new, you'll also find some unique brands here under the Lidl umbrella, but prices for those brands are quite cheap! We picked up an long loaf of sliced wheat bread for 99 cents for example. Staff here is super friendly! Especially the week it opened the staff worked hard to roll out the red carpet, including some excellent coupons ($10 off $30 ain't a bad deal at all) and a sweepstakes. Even after the first week I've found the staff to be very friendly and welcoming. Again, this place is a small grocery store, but you can still find just about everything you might need, as long as you're not picky about your brand choice or product variations. Went 2 days after it open to check it out. They had a table outside with samples. I never been to a Lidl before so we went down all the isle. We went late on a Friday so so if the sale items was sold out. The aisle are spacious and many times available. The bakery had many offerings. I brought a chocolate cake for 4.99! It remind me of old fashion cake. A bit too sweet but for 4.99 it was ok. I also brought some sauces and salsas but have not had a chance to try them out yet. Horrible market. We got screwed with this store replacing Best. Like someone else mentioned, if you're cooking a recipe and need to run to the store for a missing ingredient, they won't have it. The store itself is a total dump. Dirty. Messy. Rotting produce ready for the trash. Strange foreign brands. A bunch of dollar store garbage instead of necessary food items. The staff seem miserable too. I don't know anyone in the area who actually likes this store. People only go here because it's close. Hopefully this store tanks soon, so West Hempstead can get a nice and convenient market, with quality products people actually need and want when running to the grocery store instead of isles of junk in cardboard boxes. I came here because my aunt said the prices were unbelievable. I came and was impressed with the prices. Everything was super duper cheap. They had a lot of merchandise and the store was clean. The parking lot is a little crazy because some people drive like crazy but they had ample parking. Only bad part is that lidl had no chicken in stock which is important for my salads. However, I did a whole week of grocery shopping for $88! So cheap compared to the $140 i did the week before at Western Beef! I highly recommend this place for grocery shopping on a budget! Way better than Aldi but the same concept which the cheap prices. They even have a fresh bakery for pastries. You go Lidl! read more

I am a huge fan of Lidl and was super excited to hear about their new opening in a location more local to me. I typically visit their other location in East Meadow and have even gone as far as Plainview, but now I do not have to anymore. I showed up for opening day in which they had a huge opening celebration going on, and freebies. While it did take some time to enter the store due to all the newcomers, everything was organized. I am very impressed with the new spot, and look forward to doing all my future grocery shopping here. They have excellent prices, and are well-worth checking out. I highly recommend visiting them. read more

I been hearing my wife talk about a new supermarket, so i decided to check it out for myself. When I walked in the blue and yelllow logo reminded me of the Ikea colors. Anyways, very clean and open spaces all around. Great prices, many choices and i like the fact that for household of 3 or less the price and choice options are excellent given the cost per unit. We end up spending about $54 on a bunch of items. Fruits, veggies, whole chicken, juices and other assorted items. Unfortunately they had a special for steak-non organic but priced at 9.99 a pound but they had no more. When i asked, is a first come first serve and no rain checks. So maybe next time. My wife also bought a old fashion chocolate cake which was pretty good. The bakery sections has a lot of choices for under $6, cant go wrong with the prices and the value. We will certainly be coming back even when its about 30 minutes away from bayside. read more

Yes, it was opening day but it seemed cramped and tiny. The old Best Yet seemed a lot bigger, guess it's the longer aisles running parallel to the front as opposed to the regular perpendicular aisle supermarket format. Looked like they took out half the store for making room for storage in the back. The concept is as if you take Aldi and combined it with Trader Joe's (also both of German origin.) The German sourdough is very hard to cut and tastes more like a strong rye than sourdough. The frozen section is interesting consisting regular wall freezers and of several sliding door freezers at waist level reminiscent of ice cream freezers in convenient stores or in European stores. (Think newer cleaner versions of those at Trader Joe's). Apparently you can download an app that adds your purchases for later savings but they didn't say anything about that until you got to the register and by then you don't want to hang around holding up the line like an idiot. I will be back as I like that they start their cashiers at $16.50 an hour! That's how you pay essential workers that previously were not considered so much! ** Update I went the second time in the first week of opening. As expected not as crowded. However, going to check out was annoying as the guy bagging got offended when I said I'd pack my own items. I used to work in retail and I'd LOVE it when people would pack their own! Whatever. This time I also had my scan code ready to scan and the woman said "just a minute" as I thought she'd be the one who was going to be scanning. Nope, it's a device that you hold your phone up to. So I thought that was strange as she could have just showed me where to scan. Also she was insistent that I "move up" my cart which I also saw no reason to do since no one was behind me at the time and my cart was always in front of me. Again, whatever. LIDL is a bad store. It is not set up in a smart way and many of the aisles are too narrow. The aisle that is the most popular is the fruit and vegetable aisle, which can barely hold two carts side by side. They also do not carry a lot of variety, which is always disappointing. although sometimes they do have good prices. read more

It does have good produce and is less expensive. It provides certain items I do like. My few issues are the two isles that are small and one you have to get around a post. The other issue is checkout. The cashiers are fast and courteous. The lane set up is not feasible, not sure what they can do about that. Over all I like it for produce! read more

We have been waiting for this store to open up for awhile and we were very excited to know it was finally open, but it was somehow disappointed during my first visit to this supermarket. The supermarket was clean and spacious. The space in each aisle was plenty and it was able to fit 2 carts. The price seemed reasonable and the items on sale were at great price. It has a membership program which people can earn points for each dollar spent and the points eventually will turn into rewards. HOWEVER, the store seemed much smaller than the old Best Yet Market. The product variety was limited, especially they carried limited brand products in the store. I did not really like the way how they put their products. Somehow the grapes (fruits) were hiding in the veggie section while all the other fruits (apples, melons, oranges, etc.) were right in front of the entrance. I also did not like the fact that they made the cashier on the other side of the supermarket, so people had to go through the entire store before getting to the cashier. I understand that it may have something to do with shopping strategies (to hope people pick up more items while walking through the store), but it was very inconvenience for people who wanted to just grab and go). Lastly, since they separated the entrance and exit, there was no "close" parking spot in the parking lot. Too many no name products - The store is set up to make you go through the store similar to Stew Leonards - however Stew Leonards has escape routes. The produce goes bad in very short periods - in fact they even sell older fruit at reduced prices. We deserve better!!! read more

I normally go to the Plainview one but this is kinda closer. It seems smaller but they have a lot of variety but you might not find the same staples as another location. Getting there from the SS parkway is kind of a loop about. Only demerit is that they don't have self checkout. read more

I really like this location of LIDL. Friendly employees, good variety and great prices. The negative comments here make me think some people are looking for gold dipped carts and marble lined floors. Do you want cheap groceries or to feel like a queen? Seriously, don't be fooled by the people who are expecting too much. Much, much cheaper than stop and shop and still good food. No deli dept but they do slice their own meats and then sell it like that. Good tasting and price is very good. Smaller section of produce, but it's offset by the low prices. Very disappointing. They came in and replaced Best grocery, promising looow prices and great selection. The prices aren't all that low, and their selection is terrible. Went in the other night for skim milk, ice cream, ginger snaps and avocados (which they push hard in their tv ads). Came out with nothing. Ice cream lockers were broken so no ice cream. They were clean out of avocados and ginger snaps. They did have organic low-fat milk, but it was double the price of the regular skim--which they were...out of. I'm never able to get all I want there. It always requires a second stop at a REAL grocery store. However, if you want weird snacks you never heard of from Germany, this is your place! read more

My experience shopping at Lidl, Franklin Sq, Dogwood Ave location. Sad to see Best Yet go. Lidl-Prices are very good, especially with the coupons $10 off purchase of 50.00 flyer coupon & at time of purchase register receipt $10.00 off purchase of 30.00. WARNING- god forbid you try to use both coupons at the time of purchase that you break up into 2 separate transaction to apply the 2 different coupons Lidl has issued. Yea it says- "Not to be combined" with another offer - 2 separate transaction is not "combined" Checkout won't do the transaction and to have to call a manager over is absolutely ridiculous! Making a customer make a purchase with 1 coupon, go out to their car and come back into the store to make a 2nd purchase with a completely different coupon offer that Lidl issued is just STUPID! BAD customer service all around, not the way to make a good first impression. A lot of people are out of work and need all the help they can get. Don't issue different coupon discounts dated for the same week if you don't intend for them to be used. The selection of name brand and pantry items (Skippy, Campbells soup or Dunkin Hines Cake to name a few) are limited and not consistent. read more
