Unfortunately, this is the only supermarket in a 30 minute radius from my house, and so it is a necessary evil. The staffing there is ridiculous, and consequently, the stocking of the shelves is a joke. I cannot tell you how many times I've gone to get this item or that- things I get every single week- same quantity , and as they refer to their sales logs to see what they should be stocking- if someone is buying 10 packs of yogurt every 4 days, perhaps they should STOCK for that demand ahead of time- or if there is going to be a SALE, perhaps they should follow that same advice! I do NOT understand how they get away with having boxes and boxes filling the aisles at, say, 11 am - clogging up the traffic- and creating a potential lawsuit.
I thought the stocking was done at NIGHT so as to avoid this type of thing?
The other day I was looking for yogurt- and I honestly could not FIND any! I brought the lady to the aisle- because I don't think she believed me! 9 am in the morning- and not ONE Vanilla yogurt of ANY BRAND! I know this sounds petty, but this has been a long time coming!
I was told "oh the dairy guy doesn't come in until noon". WHAT? NOON? THAT is when you feel it is the best time to begin to check your supply of dairy products???
Then there is the issue of customer service. The courtesy booth is pretty good- professional- not what I would say "warm and kind" but they get the job done.
There have actually been times when there are 4 or 5 cashiers/staff standing and laughing- talking- and customers are bagging their own groceries.
UNACCEPTABLE!
Don't even get me started on the bathroom facility- Everyone I know that shops there says they would rather suffer and "wait" to go than go near that bathroom.
You know that it is never cleaned properly because the soap dispenser was broken, for weeks, and the SAME soap was just lying there in a bag on the sink- and it dried up and made marks on the sink- so it is pretty obvious that nobody had cleaned.
The manager told me he had NO idea the bathroom was that dirty- Well, isn't it your job to know???
The produce is well stocked, but tasteless and overpriced.
What REALLY confuses me is his is a GOLDMINE for Stop and Shop- and it is located in a run down old grocery store from 40 years ago- and they have not made any of the changes to bring it up to "snuff"- to become a REAL Stop N Shop
Why NOT? Is it because it is located in a run down area - the edge of JP, and the beginning of Roxbury? Perhaps it is because most of your clients don't expect much- living in the
hood"? I bet the food stamps are just as good as money though- you count them up the same way you do the green stuff! So, again, I ask WHY? Why would you want such an EYE SORE?
No carriages- ???? !pm in the afternoon- and not ONE carriage available? You ask the courtesy desk- or even the manager- and they say "no? NO carriages? Let me go check...
The carriage issue is a CONSTANT one- and MOST of the carriages are damagd or completely ruined from people who try and take them off the lot - or, from the DOWNHILL parking lot that nobody bothered to perhaps even out- so the heavy, metal carriages are ALWAYS seen colliding with people's CARS- creating nasty dents..
They get an A for their security personnel- I am always seeing them chasing down some thief- I wish they would pay as much attention to their CUSTOMERS and their empty SHELVES as they do their security department! In fact, HOW are people even stealing from here when there is almost nothing to STEAL? hmmm...have to mull that one over- maybe someone STOLE all the inventory- and that is why they are ALWAYS out of this or that!!!
Come ON Stop and shop- get it together!!!! Have some PRIDE in your store- or get someone to MAKE themselves have pride in it! I go to my Mom's Stop and Shop in Westborough, MA, and it is like entering HEAVEN- and then, the next day returning to my store- like entering HELL.
This should not be the case! Just because people with limited means shop there does NOT mean they deserve sub standard shopping experiences.
Leaky roof- cases leaking- power outages- rotten smells- mice-bugs-the list could go on for months.
I will end it there- and as I said, this has been building in me for a LOT of years.
THE ONLY SHINING LIGHT IN THIS DARK ABYSS is the PHARMACY
You should THANK Ahadu, the manager of the pharmacy for helping to at LEAST bring the store some HOPE!
It is clean, well stocked, and pleasant to be in. The "HIGI" station is always broken- (I notice the ATM machine next to I is never broken -hmmm) but when it IS up and running- It's a wonderful tool to measure your vital signs, and email them to yourself so you can make a running tally.
I can honestly say I've never had a problem with this pharmacy- no wait time- great staff. TAKE A LESSON FROM THEM!!! read more
