Placed a large pickup order (for 15 of us) to be retrieved on the day we arrive for a week long family vacation in Narragansett. The ordering process is organized well. Four items were out of stock, and the shopper texted us with substitutions which we could approve or not. The website states, "We offer convenient delivery options and pickup in as little as 2 hours when you order either on our app or stopandshop.com. Get groceries on your schedule by letting our professionally trained associates do the heavy lifting. Leave something behind? No problem, you can continue to add items to your cart after checkout up until the day before your delivery or 2 hours before your pickup time." A pickup day/time is selected. Pickup was efficient. The order --many paper bags-- was placed in the SUV at the appointed time by a friendly worker. This Stop and Shop market is super sized which is great for a resort area near beaches and the coast. There are many departments including a bakery and large deli. There is a large produce area. Also, the market is part of a large NE chain, so not only are prices competitive, they are the same at all locations. There is no price gouging. There is a weekly flyer with items in all departments on sale each week. We have a frequent shopper card, so we receive the sale prices. They have a gas price reduction system based on points earned, if interested. read more

Absolutely awful customer service through the service dept. I was second in line and the gentleman behind the counter completed ignored me to deal with other customers. When he eventually proceeded to help me, he then told me to download the stop and shop app but I told him I needed the physical flyer for my grandmother. The worker ended up giving me attitude and told me it's near the online orders, insinuating that I should go find it myself. The worker acted as if it was a problem that I was asking for assistance. I was looking for some Holiday greenery decor for the condo and I saw these nice Holiday Planters at Stop & Shop. I decided to get one. They smelled great and they were nice and bushy. Perfect for a corner in our condo. Stop & Shop, is a regional chain of supermarkets located in the northeastern United States. I faced a pretty bad experience today while shopping in Stop and Shop #718 at 91 Point Judith Rd in Narragansett, RI 02882. I tried to purchase a several varieties of Cabot Cheese on sale for $1.99 with digital coupon. Each variety had own price tag on the shelf saying that I have to purchase two packs of cheese with digital coupon to get $1.99 price per pack. Also each variety of cheese had own digital coupon online. I assumed that it applies to each variety of Cabot chees on shelf and I can purchase 2 packs of chees for each variety. Unfortunately Store Customer Service representative told me that I can purchase only two packs all together and only one digital coupon can be used per customer.. He did not accept my explanation that each variety should be treated separately since it has a different barcode, and for example Pepper Jack variety of Cabot Cheese is absolutely different from "Seriously Sharp". When I asked to show me where I can see in written an interpretation that I can purchase only two items and use only one digital coupon, I was told that "this is how store operates"; he could not produce any written prove of his words. I also tried to speak to a store manager Kevin Crook, but he was simply rude saying that he "does not have patience to explain it to me" he also requested me to leave the store which was absolutely rude. I assume that store has a certain rules to operate, but it should be spelled out in written for customers. Also the way store manager Kevin Crook has communicated with me was absolutely unacceptable. This place skeeved me the **** out. Stopped here yesterday afternoon to grab a quick bite for lunch, and figured I'd use the bathroom while I was in there. The first thing I noticed about the store overall was the poor lighting; it was rather dark and depressing, especially for a supermarket. What are they trying to hide? Or are they trying to save on the electric bill? Don't know about you, but I like to see what I'm (going to be) eating. The next thing that annoyed me was that stupid, human-sized robot, which I almost collided with. I think its function is to roam the store, looking for spills or debris on the floor, but it's just plain creepy, methinks. This robot is more of a trip hazard than a puddle of pasta sauce. Just about every Stop & Shop I've visited has their bathrooms located in a rear corner of the store, usually near the deli counter, so you have to walk a mile just to relieve yourself. In this case, though, I had to go to the deli/prepared foods area anyway. I was only slightly hungry, so I was unsure what to choose. Eventually, I settled on some barbecue boneless chicken bites. Stop & Shop prepared foods, to put it bluntly, suck. Let's just say the boneless chicken I got here made KFC seem like fine dining. But, by far, the worst part of my Stop & Shop visit was the checkout experience. The woman who rang me out in the express checkout had scabs and lesions all over both forearms. I hope that it was just eczema, and not anything contagious. Even if this condition was not contagious, it would have been considerate, when working with the public, to wear a long-sleeve shirt and cover that stuff up. Oh, and for good measure, she also coughed in the middle of handling my purchase. I couldn't wait to get out of there and choke down my chicken amid news of the corona virus outbreak. As far as Stop n Shops go, this one is OK. The prices aren't too bad; helps to shop the sales. I've been here a few times in the summer and they always have a lot of beach stuff for sale. Like many Stop N Shops, the store is large with a confusing layout. The outside looks new, but the inside looks dated in spots. Selection is ample, but get ready to do some hunting. We were happy with the seafood selection last time we came here. Fresh and priced right. If you're in the Gansett, area, it's pretty much the only game in town for grocery stores. read more

With the new curbside pick up, they eliminated eight parking spaces outside the only door that is now being used. Two vehicles were in the designated spaces, one was parked in the location that is marked off with white lines (no parking) and two other vehicles were in the fire lane on either side of the entrance. I shopped at S&S Narragansett for 26 yrs and I will NEVER return. First it was the self checkout. My husband and I shop together and try to go in and out ASAP. Because of the pandemic we don't like to spend more time than we need to inside markets. We had our checkout technique down to a science. I scanned and he bagged. PERFECT!!! Well, until they changed the scanning surveillance. The buzzer kept going off and the clerk came over and pretty much called me stupid because I was getting it wrong. She said "you know what you're doing wrong"? "Yes, shopping here". That wasn't all. We transferred multiple prescriptions to Stop & Shop one of which is close to 1000.00 (no that's not an error) per month. One time my husband had a bag of birdseed with him and the pharmacist (Dylan?) kindly offered to check it out with his meds to save him the bother to either self checkout or standing in line. The next time we went to pick up meds my husband asked the Pharmacy tech (older woman, reddish hair) if she could check out the birdseed. She said, "NO", he would have to check it out himself!! That was the last time we shopped there and we transferred all of our prescriptions to Walmart. Say what you will about Walmart, but self checkout is easy and the service is friendly. read more

abosolute train wreck. Waited in line for 46 minutes to get into the deli, they had 3 associates on and 2 of them were goofing off. The associate that I finally got complained about my 2 item order... 1/2 lb of American cheese and 1/2 lb of ham asking if I wanted to "reconsider" so he didn't have to use two slicers. I don't go to the store so can't judge that. I do use pea pod and have had nothing but great experiences except for last week. I bought 2 packages of wahlburgers Angus burgers and as soon as they were delivered I put them in the freezer. I unthawed 2 days later, and they were all sour. Nothing wrong with my freezer. I had to throw it all out and it hurt because they are $11.99 for four patties. Other than that the delivery drivers are great, service is friendly, and so far they have come on time. I also love their prices and specials. I've been a lifelong Shaw's fan, but due to circumstances I can't leave my house, plus s and s takes EBT for the delivery! Keep up the good work! read more

This store is going down hill day by day. The rest room is absolutely disgusting. I went there yesterday and one stall had poop on the seat, the next the toilet seat was not connected to the toilet, another the door lock was not operational.....the toilet paper is hanging on the the back of the stall doors. With Covid and masks and hand sanitizer, this rest room is like a Petri dish. Half the time I have to go back out to get a cart. Then wait in a very long line to check out. I understand help is hard to find but a least make the rest room usable. I am not the only one in town saying this. read more

I have shopped at this Stop & Shop for years as a child, while in college, and today. However, I will not be returning anytime soon as a friend of mine and I were disrespected last Tuesday by a staff member, possibly a manager. My friend has a certified service dog, which we brought into the market with us. The puppy has his paperwork and has every right to accompany my friend into any storefront or business she chooses. We were approached by one pleasant staff member who asked us if he was a service dog, to which we replied "yes." Ten minutes later, we were approached by a female staff member, who provoked the puppy to begin barking as she walked over to us. The woman did not introduce herself nor did she inform us of her title. She asked if we had his paperwork, which we provided her with. She continued to question my friend, asking if she was a trainer of dogs because she "knows the two customers who are trainers" and she had never seen my friend with this dog before in the store. When it was all said and done, we continued our shopping and proceeded to the checkout line. The puppy barked once again at the woman as she was in the checkout line next to us cashing customers out. My friend exited the store with her dog and I finished in the checkout line. Now here is the kicker: as the female employee rang out her customers, she stated to her coworker, and in front of the customers, that "there is no reason for someone to bring in a dog if it is not actually providing service." As I heard this, I turned around and made eye contact with the customers in this woman's line. I was bewildered by her utter disrespect and ignorance to the services that a dog can provide for an individual. I WILL be contacting the manager of the store, and corporate if need be. How dare this employee assume that the dog was not providing service to its owner...she did not ask what service the dog provided, but she also does not have the right to do so. Just because my friend has no visible disability does not mean that the dog does not serve a purpose in aiding my friend. For all she knows, my friend could have witnessed a traumatic encounter in a large storefront in another location besides this Stop & Shop we visited. A word to all store managers: please train & inform your staff members on the purpose of service dogs, the wide range of services they can provide (visible or invisible), and urge them to be empathetic rather than outwardly judgmental when approaching a customer about their service animal. Next time around, we will be shopping at Belmont or other local markets who treat their customers and service dogs alike with respect and dignity. read more

Stop and Shop is a good basic grocery store that has lots of great items at a reasonable price.

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS.. they have a new sushi counter. There is a sushi chef and omg the sushi is so GOOD. Huge amount, and the prices are unbeatable. I can only dream my S&S in NK will get it. A must try!!! read more

Terrible quality meat and fish - sometimes lured in by sale items which always disappoint. Fruit and vegetables are ok. Always a line to check out - what's to like. Belmont's has better quality and service but higher prices on some things. Shaw's suffers from some of same 'big chain' deficits but decent meats. read more

This is where I wish I could give half a star. I do go here but try to avoid this place as much as possible. The tourists mob this store in the summer since it's right next to route 108 which goes straight to the Lighthouse, The Block Island Ferry and the Beaches. I frequented this place much more when it was a 24 hour store. Now they've limited the hours and usually it closes at 11 pm. It has gotten a little cleaner than it used to be and they rearranged the produce aisles. This place is huge and gives me headaches and anxiety attacks. Many times S&S will have products that Shaw's and Belmont's and Roch's doesn't have, like catnip (weird right?) or scrubbin' bubbles toilet wand re-fillables. The floral department is usually much better here than any of the other stores. I wouldn't buy seafood here, neither would my Mother, it doesn't look very "kosher" as she would say. And she doesn't like their meats (between you and I: she's eaten meat from here and never gotten sick but I inspect all packaging and their meat isn't as bad as it used to be.) When the lines get long it becomes seriously difficult to navigate around the people in the main aisle. The parking lot is huge but of all the lots it's the best one. If they went back to being open 24 hours I would shop here more. It's not so bad when there are few to no people here but this store always seems crowded. read more

Stop & Shop is a busy supermarket in the summer- I live here year-round so I try to avoid shopping there on weekends during the summer season. It is a clean, well-run store & it has great specials!. The deli is fast & acomodating, as are all the employees who are working when I ask for anything. Basically, no complaints & Ive been shopping there for many years. read more
