What happened to all the reviews. I know I posted several between 4 years ago and now. Anyways, came in for vegetable stock up. They had plenty to pick from. Store is clean and orderly as always. Although they seem to have fewer cashiers available. I guess the new trend is self checkout. Which is ok if you have bar codes items, but not of you have a lot of vegetables. Very fine, normal shopping experience. Fruit is ripe and in abundance most of the time. There has only been a few times I've gone that the fruit is almost all gone with only bad items left. Had one bad experience with online ordering where the young worker who brought out my order was so rude. But every other time it's been a fine experience- sometimes you get a smushed fruit here or there. read more

I had a regular shopping experience, with great options and easily accessible items I needed. A quick note for management. The young checkout staff need to be trained or possibly retrained on how to properly bag groceries. The young man, although polite, who checked me out today, threw heavier foods on top of my bread, which would've smashed my bread if I would not have removed them and put them in another bag. In addition, I had to ask for an extra bag to put my eggs in. This was after he left them on the conveyor belt and handed me my receipt and looked at me like he completed his task. This was odd behavior of a checkout person, Maybe the young man was having an off day or something, but the grocery shopping experience still needs to account for bagging groceries appropriately to prevent damage. This place is a rip-off. The only place with higher prices is Big Y. I get my groceries delivered from Walmart now and it's still cheaper. Similar items scattered throughout the store. I guess they think it's supposed to make you wander the store picking up other stuff you didn't intend on buying. So now I shop at Walmart and get it delivered for $10 and I still save money. read more

Some very passive aggressive employees, throwing things into my disabled mothers car when she came for pickup and they asked her to step out and get it herself. When she said no i cant i have a broken hand from a dog bite unfortunately, they threw her groceries quite hard into the backseat. I have had this experience as well, with having tomato sauce shattered all over my backseat, pickle jars, etc. Some of the employees are wonderful. But i would avoid using the store pickup at all costs. read more

I haven't been in a Stop & Shop in (close to) 8 years, just as I haven't been to this one in (close to) 10. It's just like I remember it, and it brought back good memories. Middle of the day, store wasn't too packed. Aisles were well lit and clean. When you walk into a store on a mission, you want to be able to find exactly what you want, without having to trip over misplaced items. My only regret was not having my old S&S card and gaining whatever points they're using these days! read more

I use the scanning gun to make things quicker, I don't use it to get a surprise audit. And why in the middle of a pandemic am I supposed to deal with someone handling my groceries. THREE different employees wearing their mask down past their noses on the last shopping trip. One was even doing this while in the heavily trafficked checkout area. The most disgusting grocery store I've ever been in. EVER. BLACK FUZZY MOLD throughout the entire back refrigerated section on the walls of where the shelves hang. Mold and god knows what else where the leafy greens are. It's like they just restock and NEVER ONCE thought 'hmm someone should wipe these down once every ten years' Good lord. The floors are always sticky and disgusting. The produce half the time is soggy, bruised or rotten. They run out of essentials like cauliflower/broccoli and other veggies constantly. The store is extremely crowded with tables and units in the middle of isles make it hard for people to get through and they're constantly changing where things are. And when they do change, the layouts are never more convenient. One side of the store has organic veggies and then you walk a mile to the other side for the non organic. WHY WOULDNT THEY BE NEXT TO EACHOTHER?! Not to mention when you go to check out, I hope you have a good 1/2hour to burn. There is about 15 registers and ONE OR TWO employees ringing. All of which are generally rude. The self check outs constantly have issues and the employees are always to busy conversing amongst themselves to do anything. The 'manager' of the store is constantly hollering over to the few employees at the registers about personal things. I dread coming here every week. The only reason I do is because of convenience. I have got to start going somewhere else. read more

I feel extremely disrespected and upset on how I was treated during my cash out . I went shopping with my mother may I add that is blind so I used the barcode scanner that is provided at your store for my food items so at the self cash out I paid my bill for my food items and I have my Tickets showing that I paid for everything and put the scanner where it is supposed to go then I rang my mothers food and non food items up and as I am bagging everything up one of your employees was rude when she said umm are you going to pay for that and I looked at her and said yes I already did and said would you like to see the tickets show what is in the cart I'm not going to walk out of a store not paying for a card full of food my mother is blind so this is how I have to shop and she rolled her eyes and said no I don't want to see your ticket and just walked away Don't only was this embarrassing but it was disrespectful and rude to both me and my mother read more

I agree with everyone that gave this "grocery" store 1 star. If I could vote 0 stars, I would do that. OVERPRICED and when they do have a sale, there's nothing left on the shelves. I don't know how many times I've gone there for something in the circular on sale and they're out of it -- yup, that's what they tell you, but they're not. They have a marketing ploy that should be outlawed. They put something in the circular that's on sale, you go to that spot to buy the item and there are none left, they're hoping you'll pick up another brand or a larger size. One time I went to the store to buy Premium Saltines. There were TONS of boxes on the shelf. I decided to wait and get them the next day instead. The next day I went to grab them and there were NONE. As in NO Premium Saltines. In their place were boxes of the little round, thin, saltines. They'll pull this trick hoping you'll be forced to try or buy the round ones. Very rarely can you get a raincheck on these items, they only give rainchecks for a few products. The store is filthy, their meats I wouldn't give to my dog, and their produce is rotting on the shelves. I still go there when I'm in a bind and have to get some NON food item like toilet paper, but I will never trust a filthy deceitful place like this to buy my food. Another thing, if you want them to read your comments -- post it on their Facebook page where the public can read it. read more

This place has nice produce and is really big, that's about all I have to say that's positive. They frequently run out of the product I am looking for and some of their prices are outrageous. Also this is far from the cleanest stop and shop I've seen (the bathroom is gross!). Some employees are very nice, some are downright rude. My biggest gripe is that I always have to wait in line forever, they NEVER have enough checkers on. Avoid on the weekends- you wont even get a shopping cart. The Stop and Shop in Groton is much better. read more

There are always flies and gnats swarming the produce section, especially the tomatoes. They are overpriced. A lot of their produce items are enormous! I'm betting the produce were loaded with hormones, or genetically altered. The employees always look miserable, and they are unwilling to help you. At Big Y, people seem happier, compared to Stop and Shop. The meat is disgusting. The fish are not fresh at all. It smells fishy, and fish are not suppose to smell fishy, if they are fresh. The deli counter always smells awful. Like wet kitchen rags. People there do not know how slice meat or cheese, properly. Some are very lazy. Saw a girl not wear a hair net before. They don't wipe down the slicers, so I wind up having muenster cheese mixed in with my white American cheese. Wonderful. Stop and Shop has really gone downhill. read more

I am so happy with Stop & Shop's choice to carry vegan option foods. I love the (albeit small) section of organic produce, in particular the equal exchange bananas. The Natural Balance non-dairy butter was a nice addition. Keep it coming! read more

Not that Stop & Shop gives a flying fuck what their customers think, nor does anyone read yelp reviews for grocery stores, BUT THIS IS THE WORST GROCERY CHAIN EVER. I usually go to the Waterford store but all stores I've been into are horrendous. Unbelievably expensive, shitty customer service, hardly any employees available when you need them, but ten teenage guys standing around ogling you in produce when you desperately want them to go away. Tried to find out if they sold buttermilk here once and the kid took me to the Aunt Jemima mixes. HAD NEVER HEARD OF BUTTERMILK as a food product. Asked one of the creepy teenage produce boys if they had wax beans and was stared at like an idiot. Asked the lady behind the seafood counter if they had any wild-caught salmon. She proceeded to pick up every piece of salmon labeled FARM RAISED and tell me it was wild-caught. Yo bitch I can read the signs. UNBELIEVABLE. read more

The flower department manager is terrible. Made an appointment, spent a good hour trying to get some helpful advice on kinds of flowers may be good based on colors we like (which she was very unhelpful with overall). I'm not picky at all and was told great things. However, after all of that she said she'd call me in a week and never called back. I finally called the store manager after about a month (she said she'd call in about a week or less with some pricing options and never did). I told the SM what happened and that I don't usually call for complaints but felt if I were him I'd want to know. A week later (now about a month and a half after she said she'd call in a week) I got a phone call from her saying she had prices for me. I told her it was over a month late and she only called because I spoke to a manager. She never apologized, and was pretending to be surprised when I said I went with another company because it was rude to not return my call at all. Despite all recommendations from family, I will never recommend this particular store until the department gets a new manager. The employee I spoke to initially was wonderful (Emily) and if I could have skipped talking to the florist dept manager I'm sure our experience would have been better. Try another store if you're looking for wedding flowers - this manager is horribly rude and unwilling to admit she is wrong. read more
