Came by for lunch after training and place was a nice little locals hole in the wall. Looked at the menu and decided on the storm special which was 3 patties and fries. Paid about $17 and change. Added rings to my order. Burger came out pretty quickly and ut was pretty tasty. Nothing special but extremely filling. After a miserable experience up the road in Henderson where we left foodless and very annoyed, we are so happy! There truly is a silver lining to every cloud, except in the case of Storm's Drive-In, it's golden. We are heading back home from family Thanksgiving in Dallas, and we're very hungry. Storm's hit the spot! For a fast food drive-in, they are the very best. The place was packed on this Saturday night, but they took our order immediately when we hit the button. We ordered a couple of big burgers, fries, fried mushrooms and a chocolate malt. I had a sourdough burger and my husband had a Storm's special with everything. The burgers were very fresh and juicy. You'll need plenty of napkins, which they included without us having to ask. All the sides were hot and tasty. The fried mushrooms were really good, and seem to me have to have been battered and fried there rather than from a frozen source. The onion rings and the fries also seem to have been made there on the spot, because they were very very good. I wish I would have taken more pictures of the place because as we drove out I noticed an outside seeing area that was just awesome looking. The landscaping around it was really creative and the place was just amazing. If you're driving 281 through Lampasas it is well worth the stop. Save your appetite! If you order a "storms special" and substitute the greasy oily fries with tots you will be charged an additional $0.99. If I order a burger sometime they sit too long and the bread gets hard and the burger is cold. I just cannot justify paying that much money for food and it's not the quality that is described on the menu. Other than that, good food & good people. read more

I've driven through this town 200 times over the past 10 years. I finally decided to stop and give Storm's a try. It's one of the old-fashioned burger carhop experiences. I tried the patty melt to see how it compared to other patty melts at other fast food places. I was hoping it would be far superior and blow the big chain out of the water. But, alas, it did not. The Storm's patty melt was smaller, the meat patties were smaller in diameter and thinner in comparison to others. The fries were good. The medium drink I ordered was packed with ice and very little drink. Bottom line - Decent tasting burgers but smaller than other national establishments. I love Storms but there's been a slight downward shift in quality. Called in an order not long ago and it was incorrect 3 times and was still wrong in the end. This is definitely the best burger I've had in a VERY long time. The storms special with fries and a cherry lime squeeze was delicious. The Patty's are thin and a little crispy, everything tasted fresh and the fresh cut fries were cooked perfectly. I was a little hesitant about getting the cherry lime squeeze as ya never know quite what your going to get with these kinds of drinks such as a mouth full of lime or too much syrup but this was so so good...not too sweet or too much citrus. Visited Storm's with my car club peeps. Saturday around 11:30, and every stall was full. Outdoor space was also hopping. Some picnic tables were overturned because of social distancing. I will immediately give huge kudos to the staff as everyone delivering food was friendly, offered condiments, and even post meal drinks togo (no free refills on tea). I love places like this with long tenure and judging by the amount of business they are extremely popular. Unfortunately, the burger patties are so tiny...it doesn't warrant more than three stars for me. I debated on asking for a single on my patty melt. What meat was there was dry, overcooked, and not flavorful. Bordering on double well done! I wish I or someone would go back in time and reinvent fast food where the meat would at least be thick enough they could be cooked to your preference of temperature. Rest of the package was legit; pepper jack cheese, Texas toast, sauce, and grilled onion. GF's mini burger was the same size as mine; perhaps a mistake? We did love the onion rings and the fried mushrooms. Only complaint with sides was you couldn't dip the shrooms in the ranch in the tiny cup provided. Car sits there until order is delivered so no additional orders are taken. Can back up quite a bit. The storm's Special is what we tried after reading the reviews. Triple burger. The triple burger patties sounded intimidating but they are very thin and together total 1/2lb (before cooking). Was not a big mouth full of hamburger meat. Seasoning was adequate. Our order was wrong so didn't get the additions of the spread and pickles we had ordered. Lettuce tomato and onions were fresh. Fries were good and cooked dark but not overdone. They have skins on. Wouldn't make this a "go to" place but it's ok. My pics looked the same as other reviews so didn't bother. read more

Wow. love this place. The burgers and onion rings were really good. I got a chili cheeseburger and onion rings. But then I started "helping" my wife eat her french fries (big mistake). Lets just say it was a good thing she had already eaten quite a few of them. Not many places make perfect french fries. Storm's is one of them. I loved them, I think. just a little too much. Proper double cooked fries that are just a little crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Perfect. I quickly helped finish them off. Now they are gone. I will just have to settle for drinking my chocolate mal to get over it. I just took a sip. It is also 5 star. We live about 45 minutes away. So it will be a while till the next visit. A local landmark and must go to place for your burger fix for locals of all kind. My wife's favorite place from her youth that while still good, has unfortunately lost its luster and appeal in both looks and food quality. That being said, we can't not atop by for a burger and onion rings when ever we're in town visiting. Don't get me wrong, it's good but every time for the last years every burger I love gotten, the bun seems stale. Maybe it's how the burger is prepared as I can't imagine they purposely get old buns. Service is always pretty good and fast. We always eat at the patio area they have that is really kind of cool. Metal picnic table and two menu boards and intercom system you can order from. This has always been one of my favorite burger places and anytime I frequent the area I make a point to stop. I'm only taking one star away because like a classic drive in place you only have two seating options: in your car or on their covered patio. Parking lot is tight and sometimes need a little patience to navigate through it but once you are in front of the speaker box to order, food and service is great. I personally love most items on the menu and my favorite is the cordon bleu burger which is a tasty piece of fried ham on a burger w dressing and all the fixings. It might be the nostalgia of my childhood or my rare cravings for a greasy burger that does me in but Storm's is definitely sealed a forever spot in my soul. read more
