My son has taken his 12 year old car to Storrs Automotive multiple times. I must say the first time he took the car to Storrs Auto, was with a problem that no one was able to successfully repair but was quickly diagnosed and repaired here. We had previously tried to get the problem fixed at other shops but to no avail. This last visit was to fix an expensive problem and they did a great job. However, less than 2 weeks later the steering issues were back. My son returned to Storrs Auto to find out the part was faulty. Within 3 days the car was once again repaired free of charge. They definitely stand behind their work. I would highly recommend Storrs Automotive, especially to UCONN college students. Being from out of state, I was concerned my son would be taken advantage of. This is not the case here. They seem to be honest, reputable, friendly and complete the repairs in a timely manner. Anyone needing car repairs can feel comfortable that Storrs Automotive will do just that, repair your car at a fair price. I wish there were more trustworthy repair shops around. read more

Charged me $120 for an oil change. Went there a second time to resolve an issue caused by the first time I took my car there and I was dumb enough to let the guy make an axle rod adjustment. My car has been shaking when I drive ever since. Dude's a scumbag, don't ever take your car there. read more

I walked in to get some AIR in my tire in a slightly cold and icy day. I was over cautious to drive with the low tire pressure around storrs campus. I waited patiently for the man at the front desk to end a lengthy call and kindly asked if I can get some air for one of my tire. The old man glimpsed my body with a nasty attitude and told me: " if you want to get tire pressure checked in this weather you would have to pay 34 dollars for our service." I was shocked to the ground but I was vulnerable and wanted nothing but to drive safely home after a long day of school. I had no choice but pay them 34 dollars for AIR. I am never coming back to this place again. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Storrs Automotive! Over the past six months I've had two relatively urgent requests. The first being a snow tire installation for a last minute trip up north. The second being a cracked radiator that required immediate repair. Storrs automotive was professional, quoted reasonable prices, and was able to work fast. I have been taking my cars to Storrs Automotive since I moved to the area. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I was really impressed with the care they seem to put into every customer interaction. When I was having issues with my car they called me with multiple options for the fix (break repairs, exhaust system replacement, battery repairs, etc.) and were willing to figure out a price point that I could afford. They are a convenient walk to UConn campus, making it an ideal place for UConn employees and students. They're the best. read more

I bought a 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback a few months ago. I took my car in to Storrs Automotive twice, purely out of convenience. As a UConn student I was able to drop off my car and walk to class. Both times, the clerks (two different ladies) seemed unfriendly and borderline rude. The first time I went, I had a damaged oil pan and needed to replace my spark plugs. The repairs were on the expensive side but still within (barely) the researched ranges that I found online. A few weeks down the road, my drive belts kept coming off. I fixed them about three times myself before realizing that the Crankshaft pulley was at fault due to its wobbling. I called up Storrs Automotive and they got me in the next day. I received a phone call an hour or two later stating that my crankshaft was badly damaged; probably due to the previous owner's replacement of the timing belt. He explained that merely replacing the pulley would do nothing. He quoted me $1400 to take out the crankshaft, file it down and locktite it in place (a LUDICROUS estimate from what I have seen online and talked to others about; usually around like $500 job) however he wouldn't recommend it because the crankshaft damage was too severe to fix. When I asked for my other options, he mentioned that the only other option would be to replace my engine because a crankshaft replacement is more expensive. I did not want to do this because it would cost more than I paid for the car. He called around anyway and did not find anything compatible. THEY CHARGED ME $50 TO TELL ME THAT MY CAR WAS UNFIXABLE. I had it towed to Tony's Garage (which was highly recommended from multiple sources). When I received the diagnosis call, the first thing the mechanic at Tony's said was "the good news is your crankshaft isn't damaged." They replaced the harmonic balancer and key for $400 and my car has been driving flawlessly for the past 1,000 miles. So much for the "crankshaft damage" in an "unfixable engine." I can't tell if Storrs Automotive was just out to screw me, didn't want to do the job or merely incompetent. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. They are not worth anyone's time or money. The convenience isn't worth dealing with AMATEUR mechanics. Instead have a friend drop you off at Tony's instead, they are definitely worth it. UPDATE: It is now 3 months later and I haven't had any problems since having my pulley handled at Tony's. read more

They ordered, received, and mounted a replacement tire in a few hours, without prior notice. They took me in immediately and got the job done very quickly and professionally. The man working there was very rude and inattentive when I went in even though I was the only customer in the shop. They charged me $70 to change my headlights and I had to get them changed again a few months later because they went out again. They gave me terrible quality headlights and charged a fortune. My low-beam headlights stopped working at the same time. Changing the bulbs didn't help. I figured this place would be good to use since it's very near my place of work. I made the appointment for 8 o'clock Wednesday morning, and get it in to get checked out. I wait around that day, and finally call them to check in around 2. I am told they haven't really looked at it yet, and asked if I can leave my car overnight. This is, again, just to look at it figure out the problem. I tell them no, and they say to come in at 5. I come in at 5 and they tell me they've figured out what I need (a new dimmer switch) but they haven't ordered it yet. So I tell them to order it and I'll be back Wednesday. I get a call on FRIDAY telling me they are ordering the part. I come in for my appointment Wednesday and wait until 2 again and call to check on it. I'm told the part hadn't come in yet! They didn't mention this when I brought the car in they morning. They ask again if I can leave it overnight and I tell them no. I get a call back in an hour saying the part came in and it was the wrong one! The part, apparently, also deals with Cruise Control, and while my car has it, the replacement part didn't. So they ask if I want to wait for the replacement or go without Cruise Control. I have them install the bad one while they wait for the correct one , since at this point I've been without low beam headlights for a couple weeks, but I want the Cruise Control. Now I have correct part in, but sometimes when I switch the high beams off, the low beams don't work! And the high beam switch doesn't always take, so sometimes I can't turn them on, sometimes I can't turn them off! I am never going here again, and I urge anyone reading this not to either! Don't let them waste your time! read more
