It was last minute, but I found some mechanics listed on yelp who said they did mobile repairs and reached out. Allen was a great communicator and his price was fair for a pre-purchase inspection. He arrived exactly when he said he would and walked me through a multi-point inspection of the vehicle. He explained what he was looking for and how he determined if there was a problem or not. After a thorough check of the physical car, we went for a test drive and Allen again helped me understand what any areas of concern might be as he was carefully assessing the vehicle. He helped me find a few issues that were relatively minor. At the end we reviewed the inspection and discussed what the market value for the vehicle might be. I was fortunate (lucky) to find Allen available on such sort notice and am glad that I chose him for my pre-purchase inspection. I'm not sure I would have felt as confident in my choice to purchase the vehicle without Allen's expertise.

Everything worked exactly as it was supposed to. They left the car clean and tidy, with no mess or ragged edges. The project involved taking the dashboard apart, which had many potential problems and points of failure. Bowen's did it right the first time, and charged a very reasonable price. Being a small family owned business, it's clear the owner cares about the quality of their work. The owner isn't somewhere hundreds of miles away - he's sitting on a stool in the service area right when you walk in. It's clear they're invested in their work, and committed to doing a good job. Even though I live over an hour away, I'll be bringing my car exclusively to Bowen's for all future service and work. Had a door panel switch fixed, bought 2 sets of tires from them, and had them do my belts and water pump over the years. Every time the service quotes were up front and very fair. Andy, the owner and his wife make the place feel more like a family service shop and always have made me feel like I can trust them. On the water pump job, a day later I had a leak on one of my hoses due to dry rot (not their fault at all). Brought it right back, Andy took one look at it and said he was sorry and hates to see cars come back to the shop for a second round. They fit me right in that day to fix the hose and make it right on the spot. Only charged for the hose and no labor. If that's not good customer service I don't know what is. Just bought a certified 2014 golf TDI to add to the stable. Asked on if they do full service on TDI's, and they do. This type of service from a independent shop is hard to find given the complexity of VW direct injection diesels to work on. Most shops will turn you away, but not this one. Instead of going to the local clown shop (aka Vernon stealership I bought the car from), I will have them do work on this car in the future. If you have a VW or Audi product this shop is worth checking out.
