This shop takes care of their customers. I've used them multiple times. They do a great job. They are fair. They do not charge for anything that's not needed. My daughter was on the side of the road in a snowbank just a day ago and they actually got there quickly, got her out, and directed traffic so that she could get safely out of the way. Parents of STUDENTS AND STUDENTS pay attention. We should have looked into the reviews on here before trusting this company to actually fix what was broken. College students/parents of college students/anyone who drives a freaking vehicle GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Issue- car broke down, had to be towed. Fix? New serpentine belt and AC compressor, Problem? The AC doesn't work. This was found this out the first time when the weather was warm enough to need AC on Mother's Day, graduation day, when I was in town to move my student home, and the AC was used for the first time. Today, she went to get the rest of her things, and I called them to get her in so they could tell me why the AC wasn't working. Took 3 hours to tell us their AC machine that charged the ACs was broken, and they were waiting for parts. Could they NOT have told me this when I called? Waste 3 hours for NO fix? Yes, I had some words to say, and the women did as well. Blame totally on us and not them. I asked when it would be fixed so they could properly fix the vehicle we spent twice as much to fix-- or rather not get fixed-- anywhere else but there. It is a 12-hour round-trip drive, which she so rudely reminded me it wasn't the shop's fault... NO SH!T. When I asked for money back to have it fixed properly, a step was missed, because clearly it wasn't charged to begin with... she said no. I asked when the machine would be fixed so they could do the work, and she had no idea; they're 'sourcing' the part. What they should have done. They must have a quota to tow cars each day. but shame on you for taking money from kids when you know there is nowhere to park on campus. A rough place to get your car fixed, I called them about an issue with the brakes being loose and the person on the phone was very rude from the start. I'm sure they were just having a bad day or something. The issue was that they took several hours to change the brake fluid when they told me it would only be about an hour. Like it's okay if you're busy, just say something so I don't have to wait for several hours. But not only that, the brake light appeared on my dashboard several days later and the brakes were loose again somehow. Also, the people that perform maintenance play with your keys/car. When I was walking over to pick up my car, I noticed the repair person was repeatedly locking and unlocking my car. When I asked him about it, he said he liked the sound it made when it locked. As the below reviews indicate, a very shady place with crooked business practices. My artist was on tour in their area and had a flat. Cops call T&B. T&B hooks up the vehicle, goes shoulder to shoulder and is sideswiped by another car. T&B charges my client for the wait time for the police at a rate of $400 an hour. $1100 for 30 mins of towing. They gloated that was what they were "legally allowed to charge." Then called the cops when he got upset. Legal to charge someone $400 for your accident? lets see what the Better Buisiness Bureau has to say about that. read more

I would have given T and B five stars hands down. Apparently the business was sold to owner's kids and it is no longer a pleasant place. The new front office staff (2 women) are both miserable! They look unhappy and are indifferent. Borderline rude. Compared them to Leia who was wonderful. Apparently she is still there but doesn't work the front. I liked going there to drop off my car, or wait for service or pick up my vehicle. I don't anymore. Macbeth cones to mind Unfortunately Brock, one of the mechanics left. He was top notch. Shaun is still there, which is good. He is always smiling and nice; I simply don't know how much he does as a mechanic. He has always handled my emissions. Good guy. They use to pick up and drop of customers, especially long term and repeat ones. Gone is that level of service and so is the older white haired gentlemen who did that. I hope he retired and wasn't let go. I certainly hope he is alive and well. They also had home battery service with AAA. Gone too. Don't remember if they even have AAA jump starts at one's home anymore. They are still a AAA shop, for what that is worth. It is easy to blame COVid, but I think it has more to do the the kids owning the shop. I am sure there will be a rebuttal blaming AAA, Covid, et cetera. . I don't care. They have a premium and profitable business located between Eastern State Univ and the main campus of UConn. C'mon. Changes are palpable after the ownership change. Geico recently called T&B for a "free" tow after my car was stuck. Alex Sanchez, the tech who came out, determined it didn't need to be towed, but really just the doors needed to be unlocked (there was an electrical issue that prevented the doors from opening but not the car from starting). Not towing it to the dealer saved me tons of money. I was able to drive it to the shop of my choice and get it fixed on my own timeline. Alex was so pleasant to work with. He didn't have the right tools on him and had to go back to the shop to get them since he wasn't anticipating a lockout. It was raining and he ensured that I had a safe, dry place to stay while I waited. He returned quickly and had the door open in under 3 minutes. It was impressive! He was so sweet and considerate. I could have hugged him! I would definitely use T & B Motors again! read more

DO NOT GO! Some of the employees were unprofessional and look so arrogant. Very rough experience with them.

I have Verizon roadside assistance and they called T&B motors to tow my vehicle. The app showed a 3 hr wait,so I contacted the answering service and they had the driver call me. I explained to him where the car was and where it was going. He told me that he would contact me when he got the car to my home. Well he never called and he lost our car. He just dropped it wherever he wanted to. We called roadside assistance and they told us that the tow company is saying that we need to call the police to recover the car. I have towed cars for many, many years and I have NEVER told anyone something like that. It's complete bullshit and I've contacted the appropriate agencies to police this situation. This is the worst experience I've ever had with a tow company and I wouldn't use these guys again if my car was burning and they had the only fire extinguisher in the world. Very poor customer service and they believe that they can do whatever they want to people with no consequence. Not today buddy. read more

Have had T&B before for AAA service and the were ok at best. Called AAA 4 hours ago and still waiting. My car is 4.6 miles from T&B's garage. I ended up going home instead of waiting 4 hours for them. On way home passed flat bed sitting in parking lot. Just got a text another hour to wait. Over 5 hours. Unacceptable service. read more

CROOKS!! My car blew it's head gasket. AAA sent T&B to tow my car so I had them tow it to their place. HUGE MISTAKE in hind sight. They quoted $4K to put a rebuilt motor into the car. I agreed. When I went to get the car, I was given an invoice for over $5K. I explained the quote was $4K and refused to pay the $5K. They explained there were other parts that were replaced. They said they could remove those parts to get the price back down to $4K, but the car would not run! I was shocked at their callous attitude. I had to borrow the additional $1200 which really angered me. Within 1 month the engine blew (head gasket). I contacted them and they refused to speak to me about it. Brought to a Toyota dealer who told me the engine T&B put in was not rebuilt (guess on rebuilt engines there is a yellow # painted on the engine signifying it was rebuilt). Apparently, they just pulled some bad engine from some junk car and put it into my car. The Toyota dealer said there was no way it should have cost $5200 since the engine was not rebuilt. No one likes getting towed, even when we deserve it. In this case, I very much deserved it, delinquent that I am. Still, sorting out my fine and dealing with T&B motors couldn't have been more seamless. The staff are nice enough and, more importantly, very efficient. I was out of there in 10 minutes (well, after having my car impounded for two days). Towing rates are steep but I guess that's the way it goes. Can't fault them for my own mistake. They could have been much nastier about it, but they were civil and helpful. read more

If I could give fewer stars, I would. I am taking a chance writing this review right now because they still have my vehicle. They have had my vehicle for 5 days and will have it through the weekend and maybe it will be done Monday. I took it in for a brake job!! A brake job!! Those things that Most can do in an hour..... it has taken them a week- or more! They said things came up, they didn't have technicians, blah blah blah. They had no business telling me they could do the service if they knew they could not provide the service. I tried to help out the local small business. I won't go back again. We asked for some type of discount since they had my vehicle for a week: 10% off labor‍‍‍at least it's something, I guess. So hopefully my vehicle gets repaired. I may be writing another review as this one only addresses the customer service and speed of service. The quality of service has yet to be reviewed. Add: it is now the 8th day of my brake replacement. I went in and made a small scene. I got my truck an hour later. Odd. Hopefully it is fixed. The gentleman cashing me out was apologetic, but I won't go back there. I do not recommend them for anything other than emissions. I asked for the old parts and am having them verified that they did, in fact, come from my make/model truck. read more

Horrible AAA vendor. Stuck two miles from their garage and AAA reports they can't get T&B to answer their own calls. Wife calls - as we are local and to explain problem - and some unprofessional, non-caring, dispatcher finally answers. When wife explains AAA can't get through to them, the person rudely tells my wife she needs to call AAA herself without trying to clarify, verify or assure AAA customers safety. They then hang up on my wife! Rude, uncaring, unprofessional, unable to contact/speak to, does not care about customer safety or satisfaction- let alone their own contract with AAA. You are better off to call ANYONE other than T&B for anything. I can't imagine how they treat customers who pay for mechanical work. Avoid at all cost. Update: literally 2.1 miles from T&B and hours later still here. No calls, texts, updates. AAA useless with regard to reigning in their terrible vendors. A few days ago, I was driving in the rain/snow and noticed my passenger-side windshield wiper wasn't working properly. Nervous, I pulled into this mechanic that I've seen but never been to. I walked in, a friendly secretary greeted me, and I told her my problem. A mechanic instantly helped me out and took a look at my problem. He fixed it, and 5 minutes later I was on my way, no charge. Mechanics are notorious for overcharging for little services, or telling you that there's a bigger problem than expected - not these guys! He fixed my problem and was so very friendly! If I need to have work done on my car while I'm still in CT, I will absolutely go here. read more

Rudest employees I've ever encountered. Towed my car while I was in a permitted parking lot and made me pay over $100 to get it back. The customer service is so terrible. At 230 in the morning, he proceeded to ask me to walk back alone in a pitch black parking lot with no lights on. I'm sorry but I'm a 21 year old girl, I'm not going somewhere that seems so unsafe. DO NOT USE! T&B has now replaced both my transmission and alternator 3 times (they are under warranty) and I have now received aggression and fowl language from the GM himself right before he hung up on me. After them insisting that my transmission was perfectly fine (and me having to wait for over an hour in the parking lot for somebody to give me my key), it completely blew AGAIN on the way home from the shop. They have refused to compensate any of the excess cost that I have accumulated even though they warrantied and I have now spent well over $1,000 on rental cars and towing. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am in their service and work, if you can even call the GM of a business using the "F-word" and hanging up on me customer service. read more

Told me I wasn't being charged for having my car in their lot on numerous occasions after AAA had brought it there, then nailed me with an absurdly high charge without any notification of the accumulation of the charge. I would have had the car towed home if I had known I was being charged to keep it there, but they did not so much as leave me a voicemail telling me I was going to start getting charged. I had called periodically to check if I was and they assured me I wasn't. I don't recommend this mechanic if you want a trustworthy, honest mechanic, or one that will notify you if you are racking up a bill without even knowing it. read more

Charles Hernandez at T & B Motor is wonderful, nice, and kind.  He restored my faith in humanity. Here is why.  My oldest daughter goes to University of Connecticut. She drove to Windham Hospital to visit a friend at night.  Her car died in the hospital parking lot.  She left the car key with her younger sister who is near by, a first year student a Eastern CT State University, and returned to Uconn.  The next morning I called AAA to arrange to have the car towed to our Honda dealer, but said that my daughter could not be at the car until 11AM.  AAA said to call 1/2 hour before 11AM which I did.  Charles Hernandez from T & B Motor was so fast.  He arrived at the car within minutes, but I had told my daughter to be there at 11. She called and got mad at me for making Charles wait.  I called Charles and explained to him that she was on her way and to apologize for the wait.  He said no problem, even though the company policy is to wait 15 minutes, he would wait until she got there. After 15 minutes, my daughter called all upset and in tears.  She was lost.  She had gone to the wrong location and was nowhere near where the car was located.  I called Charles and asked if there was anyway he could drive to find her and bring her to the car and then drop her off at her school before he brings the car to our dealer, an hour's drive away.  He was extremely helpful.  I was on the phone with both my daughter and Charles, back and forth.  I could not thank Charles enough.  He said "no problem" he understood my concerns being a dad himself with 2 kids.  He refused to accept the gas money we wanted to give him for the extra miles and troubles he had given us.  What a nice person !!! This is the second times T & B Motor towed our car through AAA.  They both have been positive experiences, this one with Charles Hernandez was exceptional !!! To managers of T & B Motor, Charles Hernandez is an awesome person.  He is a keeper and definitely deserves a raise! read more
