I've already been to Kalia Cafe twice on this Maui trip, which probably says enough The first time we ordered online for breakfast. I got the smoked salmon bagel and my boyfriend got the breakfast sandwich, and we both really enjoyed them! We also split the bubble waffle. We ended up eating it cold, but I'd definitely recommend eating it fresh/hot. The real star of the show was the Maui Melt panini I got when I came back a second time. LOVED IT. Easily my favorite thing I've tried here so far. I also got one of their specialty lattes with cold foam and asked for it less sweet. It was delicious! The barista was also super sweet and friendly. I sat inside at one of the corner tables and there was an outlet right next to me to plug in my laptop, plus WiFi, which was really nice since I wanted to get some work done. They also have outdoor seating if you'd rather enjoy the weather. Cute spot, great food and coffee, friendly service, and a good place to hang out or work for a bit. Pulled up to Cafe Kaila about 10am and yeah... get one line. Nothing crazy though, about nine names ahead of us. I was already doing the math and thinking , "Eh, we might be here awhile." But nah, good timing. People were finishing up, bussing tables, and bam, maybe 20-30 minutes tops. Not bad at all. While we was waiting, they come out with waffle samples for everyone in line. I mean... who does that? That's how you keep people from getting all hangry. Instant good vibes, the whole line outside was just smiling and waiting patiently. Finally get seated and both the hostess and waitress were super nice--real friendly, no rush, no attitude. In the front they had mushroom soup on the specials board, so we figured we go sample um. I had them bring a cup of soup out to start along with my wife's coffee. Gotta be honest--when I dipped my spoon in, I was already judging. Looked kinda thin, not creamy like other mushroom soups I've had. I was thinking, "Ahh here we go." Took one spoonful and immediately had to humble myself. That soup was money. Like, stop-talking-and-just-eat. My wife tried it and confirmed that this soup was "winnahs" . Deep mushroom flavor with the right amount of seasoning. It also came with a little piece of focaccia toast which I would have really enjoyed but had to take my wife's word for it since she ate um all . Should've ordered the bowl. Rookie mistake. For my main, I went with the original eggs Benedict. Portions were a little on the small side, but with the roasted potatoes, I was good. Didn't leave hungry, didn't need to loosen the belt--perfect middle ground. My wife got the strawberry waffles and yeah... those were legit. She's not a syrup person, so she asked for more whipped cream. The waitress comes back with a little mountain of whipped cream in the little silver ramekin. All in all, solid spot. Friendly people, ono food, and little touches that make you feel taken care of. We will be heading to Cafe Kaila again to try some other stuff like the "chicken and waffles", and next time, I'm not playing around with the soup. Bowl, Garans. read more

Good, but could be better. I had a breakfast croissant sandwich and my beef was with the construction. The bottom of the croissant was cut too thin. This caused the bottom to flatten to an eighth of an inch and retain extra moisture during heating. Then, the top of the croissant was overcooked and became chewy. No longer a sandwich, it was a knife and fork-wich. The egg part was good, but I didn't care for the square, cold cut style pressed ham they used. Had a late Sunday breakfast. Ordered the burrito with salad, Bubble Waffle and a side of bacon. Good portion to share. We enjoyed all. They were friendly and helpful. They were closing in 30 minutes and was nice about letting us know since we were going to sit down to eat. Ambiance was quiet. The cashier says, "I can't give you water. we have bottled water for purchase." When i looked visibly shocked she told me she could sell me a cup of tap water for 79 cents. We were looking for a quick breakfast and found this cafe close to us in Kihei. The person taking our order was friendly, patient, and helpful. You order at the counter then pick it up at the when it's ready. This location is a cute spot and not very big. Yet, they have indoor and outdoor seating. The food was good. We ordered the Bubble waffles which resembled a mochi waffle. We also ordered the a bagel. The bagel would have been better with smoked salmon. We also tried the beef empanada. We visited Kali Café in Kihei. The location is nice, the staff is really friendly, and they open early, which is convenient. The coffee was just okay. We tried the bubble waffles, but they were just okay too, probably not something we'd order again. I also tried the Acai and coconut parfait, which was good. We ordered the bacon egg cheddar sandwich and the bacon egg cheddar bagel sandwich, both were good. We also asked for a croissant with cream cheese, but they forgot the cream cheese, and we didn't go back to fix it. Overall, it's a nice spot. read more

Wanted to let you guys know that if you order online a vegetable bagel don't expect cucumbers as advertised. Not sure what the menu looks inside because I thought it was the same menu. But when I picked up my order and went to work, I was disappointed that they, what I thought, forgot the cucumbers. Of course I checked the online menu, making sure I wasn't making things up, it says cucumbers as one of the ingredients. With that I called to let them know they forgot to put it on. The girl said they don't put cucumbers on their veggie bagels... I mentioned the website specifically and she did apologize and said she would let the manager/owner know about the site. So I paid $16 with tip for a bagel. Does come with a lot of chips ... so if you like more veggies bring your own‍ Oh haven't taken a bite yet, I'm sure it taste wonderful. Wow, the prices have gotten really terrible here. Yes, I understand the cost of living here (I am born and raised), and yes, shrinkflation is a thing nowadays. But a $7.32 iced americano with cream and a pump of vanilla? That is kind of crazy to me. Yes, it's Maui roasted beans but so many coffee shops in the area (less than a 5 minute walk away from here) sell Maui Oma and for a fraction of the price. Also, I know it's a local shop but most of the shops in the area are local too. I used to come here a lot when it was cafe at la plage but I'm not sure if I'll be back here for a while. Even the cold brew that I loved (mud pie) is $10 for a 20 oz? That's pretty steep for a cold brew with chocolate and macnut syrup. read more

Last time I was here I remember it being another name. Now it's under a new ownership "Kalia Cafe." I was with my cousin and we decided to try it out. The guy at the register was very welcoming and kind. My cousin and I decided to get some food and drinks. We chose the Matcha Latte and an Americana. Both were good choices. We decided to share the White Rock bagel , egg & cheddar and added bacon ( on everything bagel) It was delicious, but for me it would have been a notch up if the cheese was melted. Dude if you want really great breakfast sandwiches, waffles, coffees, and more; then say no more. This is the spot for you. Highly recommend the everything bagel with cream cheese added to whatever egg/cheese/meat combo... you'll thank me later. The service is super fast and super friendly. I've been coming for 3 days, at busy times, was in and out in 5-8 minutes each time. I liked the staff especially because I met various ones each day, all being very kind with real positive vibes. Setting is amazing. Dolphin Plaza .... it's a tad hidden because there are other shops all around. Look for the huge line at Maui Bread Company... Kalia is 2 doors down from there. We cruised in around 7:45am on Friday morning and were quickly greeted and our orders taken. Didn't take long to get our food. It was hot ... so hot that I had to open up my sandwich to let it "breathe" a bit before biting into it again. I mean... what is a little burnt mouth to start the day? ha! Gives a different spin on 'broke da mouth'. They didn't skimp on eggs nor sausage in my breakfast sandwich. In fact, I gave some of my sausage to the husband to finish. His breakfast burrito came with a green salad. I like when places give you salad as a side to start the day... I mean... we should all start the day with greens (but I rarely ever do.) Kalia Cafe was our last breakfast in Maui - quick and casual! The interior had minimal decor aside from the gifts and merch for sale. I'd already gotten my caffeine fix that morning, so I ordered a Hibiscus Lychee Iced Tea, which was delightful - so refreshing. For food, I chose the Lox Bagel (toasted, on an everything bagel). As a former New Yorker, I usually have low expectations for bagels elsewhere, but this one hit the spot. The lox was tasty and I appreciated the capers on top. The food did take a little while to come out, but we also came in as a group of 8 so the cafe got busy very quickly. Overall, pretty good! read more

We ordered a Monte Cristo and Sugar Beach to-go and the specialty cold brew they had (chocolate drizzle walls with macnut and cream) and then a oatmilk latte with Macnut flavoring (both cost extra). The total was $50 which has been about the price for most small breakfasts/coffees here on Maui. I really liked their croissant sandwich that came with a side of seasoned potatoes. They also have a cute new pina colada drink that Isaac recommended -- an excellent recommendation. Thank you for the response. I thought Lox bagels come with more ( just my experience) from different places. Like capers, onions etc. This was the first place we came to when we got here. We flew in on Tuesday and came I think Wednesday or Thursday can't remember which date! Been running around and now getting to my reviews. They are friendly when you walk in- I've noticed a lot of places were not so friendly to us when we walked in and don't greet you they just talk amongst themselves look at you then ignore you. This place greeted us. I wanted to give a good review but sadly it was pretty disappointing the food! My partner got a mocha coffee (overly sweet) I got a lychee or hibiscus tea, it was either one of those it was okay. I ordered a lox bagel which usually comes with capers onions etc. This one Barely had salmon on it. Only cream cheese and salmon. My partner got French toast asked for eggs. They did warn us the eggs are not fresh. Which she said okay and still got it They are more like the eggs they put in your Mc Donald's Mc muffin sandwich She got two. The water (oh man) the cups were SOOOO TINY you need like 5 of those cups. The price was over 50 plus tip. Definitely overpriced. We found other places that came out to that price and better and fresher larger portions. I really wanted to give a better review.
