This salon is such a gem. From walking in the door you are immediately greeted with the most chic decor and the best kind of vibe. I came in for a cut and balayage by Lauren and she is absolutely amazing. She is a true artist and turned my blank canvas (plain dark brown hair) into a beautiful dimensional warm color; lighter brown mixed with the dark for a fall look. With a service such as a cut and color, especially something like balayage all my girls know, that takes a long time. It can be boring to just sit there for 3-4 hours, but it was such a vibe that I didn't realize how long I was there. This is an unfortunate review for me to be leaving. I was really happy to have been recommended to Stotts. I am new to Costa Mesa so I was eager to find a salon to go to regularly. I would go see Carrie for my haircuts and she always did a phenomenal job. Once I find a stylist who I like, I continue seeing them for years. I've stayed with a stylist for 10 years once and another stylist for 5 years (I had to part ways each time because of moves). Needless to say, I was planning to regularly see Carrie because I was so pleased with her cuts. Carrie is exceptionally talented. Her salon is beautiful and well-maintained. I felt confident in her knowledge of hair types and tailoring the cut to match one's unique type and lifestyle. She even recommended product for my hair to enhance my waves. The best products I've ever had! Here's the really unfortunate part: I had an appointment in October. About an hour before I had to leave for my appointment, I was experiencing a panic attack (I have generalized anxiety and take medication/therapy). I was not in a state to drive safely or be out in public. With my husbands help, I managed to call the salon to cancel. The woman on the phone was so nice and understanding. Normally, for late cancellations customers would be charged 50% of the fee - Which is completely understandable. With my husbands help, I tried explaining how I was having a panic attack and asked if the fee could be waived this one time. She said no problem. Now, I'm at a place mentally to where I can go get a haircut. I call the salon and the woman explained that I'm unable to make an appointment until I pay the 50% fee. She explained that per the notes, Carrie noted I should pay the fee and I can't make an appointment until it's paid. It was also explained to me that the salon called me multiple times to pay the fee (I never received a call). I informed the woman that I was previously assured I'd get an exception because of what I was going through. The woman said "Yea, I remember" and that the logic behind the decision to ultimately not waive the fee was that "things happen" and it negatively impacts other customers trying to get an appointment. I was shocked. I was so surprised because Carrie always seemed like such an empathetic person. I've consulted with small-business owners for years up until a year ago. Business owners need to strike a balance between practicing policy and having empathy/practicing wise judgement to make exceptions to those policies. By having this balance, a business owner maintains structure but also ensure their top-paying customers feel cared for so they keep coming back. In this case, I'm sorry to say that the business showed a complete lack of empathy. Revenue-wise, as well, it doesn't make sense either. Because of a onetime fee, the business is now losing a committed customer who would've brought recurring revenue. I wish this new salon the best, I really do. It's beautiful and everyone is so talented. I would simply recommend Carrie to show more empathy and use better judgment. If my client, whom I know is trying to establish a long-term relationship with me, calls to say they're having a panic attack (a vulnerable admission to say the least) and can't make an appointment, I would make that exception. As a customer, I want to give my hard-earned money to someone who more aligns with my morals on that front, which is why I'm no longer going to seek Carrie's services. read more

First off, I follow Alexis Aquino anywhere she goes! I come from DTLA to have her work magic on my hairs. She always knows exactly what to do for the frame of my face and right colors to use. It's worth every penny to leave feeling pulled together. Lastly, the salon is in a very safe well known area. Has parking which is always a plus and the salon inside is clean, homey with natural light and friendly faces. I highly recommend Alexis & Stotts Salon!! read more

I just had my first visit to this super cute salon last weekend for a quick touch up by my favorite gal who ALWAYS takes care of me - Lauren Fuller! I've been going to her for about 8 months now as we have been trying to repair my hair from serious damage from a few years of foreign hair care services while still having fun with my color. She does an AMAZING balayage (check out her hair insta) and since I go in fairly regularly we do face frames to keep it bright when a full appointment isn't needed. A couple of visits ago we agreed that a little chop was in need and it has improved the overall look and health of my hair tenfold & I couldn't be happier! My hair is growing at an even rate now and Lauren had the best product recommendations for the time I spent away from her. I'm excited to see her again in 8 weeks as we continue this journey of lightening my hair at a healthy rate! The salon itself has turned out so so cute! Love the ambience and I cannot wait until I have some time to hang out in that daring patio area on my next visit! I imagine opening and visiting a salon during a pandemic could be incredibly stressful but I felt completely safe the entire time! All stylist wore their masks (you are also required to wear your mask), everything was super clean and they leave plenty of time in between clients to sanitize their stations and I never crossed paths with the next client as I was leaving. I have had the absolute worst luck with hair stylists, my hair is still recovering from being completely damaged by bleach a year ago. I told Michelle my horror story and how I just wanted to chop off what was dead just as long as it was still past my shoulders.
