Plenty of indoor seating as well.

In general, all ages are welcome until 8pm. Beer, cider, non-alcoholic drinks are available and a few other goodies. Including 2 groovy bathrooms on site that are of course covered with stickers. Such a super cool and fun place! I think you'll get a kick out of it, too.

It was a decent sized sandwich cut in half and quite honestly was one of the best reubens I have had between the quality of meat, flavor of sauer kraut, and crunch of the bread. Not sure I would say it was worth $22, but it's Seattle so that's kind of how it works.

My first experience visiting Stoup was the 2014 Washington Beer open house, which takes place in mid-February. It was my mission to visit 4 Ballard breweries, all within short driving distance of one another. I got started at Jolly Roger Tavern, whose new location I hadn't been to - I remember when it was a quaint little tasting room on the other side of 15th. Anyhow, one beer leads to another and by the time I got to Stoup I was sporting a pretty good buzz. I was really excited because they opened up the Brewery for everyone to look at and into, and the atmosphere was relaxed and fun. There were dogs, people, and that glorious communal glow that only happens when large groups of beer drinkers gather. Truly, a magical experience. :) Usually I reserve the term life-changing for food, but I have to say this visit was a turning point for me. Aside from the excellent quality of the beer (the taster had 7 generous pours and one was 10.5 ABV!) I had this awakening. It's not a habit, it's a passion. I vowed to return. I'd say more, but it would sound creepy and/or stalkerish. I just love these guys! When I think of good Seattle beer, I think of Stoup. I've lived in the PacNW for ten years and have drank just about every beer I could get my hands on - and my favorite beer was always the one I never had. Until Stoup. There's just something about it. Would prefer to review this place based on their beer. Unfortunately, there is as bigger concern here. When leaving this place I noticed a sign promoting an even for "Harris / Waltz" and next to it, a promotion for "abortion access funding." WTF? In doing so, Stoup brewing is basically spitting on their customers who might not like that activity. There are other options - will go elsewhere. Edit: Lara - you know I didn't mean spit on customers literally, so don't be obtuse. I'd be the same if it was a white supremacist poster: I would not "ignore" that either. I'm guessing neither would you. I won't patronize a business that promotes baby killing. read more

Awesome place. I had the Citra IPA, Belgian stout, Double IPA, and Northwest IPA. All were excellent! The bartenders were incredibly polite & they knew everything about the brewery. From its inception to where it's going, I was able to walk out of Stoup with a great familiarity of the place. Nice, laid back vibe in the tasting room & the Beer Garden was a great addition (even in the 55 degree chill outside). I will definitely be making a trip back to Stoup ASAP, and fully recommend it to all. read more

I met up with a group of friends for a mid-week drink at this Ballard favorite. My drink of choice was the Wassail, a holiday spiced cider. A more traditional cider in comparison to some of their wacky flavors. Their outside patio is large, with a variety of both covered and uncovered seats available. While they don't serve food onsite, you can view their website for a calendar of upcoming food trucks. We were also obsessed with their analog photo-booth and ended up having a very expensive photo shoot post-drinks.

For some of us, those dry, funky Belgians are where your palate finds home after trying every beer style. Only some of us, though. They can be hard to sell after a while, especially these days. So now the lineup here runs to lots of gorgeous, refreshing lagers, some explosively-flavorful hoppy stuff, and the occasional big chewy high-abv ale. For a saison whore like me, this is kinda like learning Michelangelo doesn't paint anymore, he just gets down with sculpture now. Not a tragedy by any means, but we still feel the absence. But why are saisons not the huge seller that IPAs are? Well, in part, 'cause old heads like me cut out beer. I did, anyway. I came out of retirement yesterday afternoon to try Nick's beers 'cause they had a Washington Cheese release event at the brewery yesterday. (Can't wait to try those, by the way). I checked out a landbier, german pils, west coast pils, and a hazy IPA. All wonderful, refreshing, and without flaw. We had a couple other beers at the table, along with a seltzer and wine. There's nothing here I wouldn't have again. The space is a good size--seating here, bar back there, brewhouse off to one side, more seating up the ramp in back. They had the Olympics on the flat screens and projector. There are board games and cards near the bar, and shuffleboard upstairs. This was another brewery before, and that brewery put in the shuffleboard table and at least some of the brew equipment. You can still see the name of the old brewery here and there. L&L is an even better source of beer IMO. Somewhat infamously, this space was also a funky dive bar and a, uh, gentleman's club in decades gone by. No trace of either of them remain. The folks who run this place are friendly and fun, and there aren't too many places making beer this good. They even have a great knack for designing cool labels (all done in house!). Highly recommended.
