I met up with a group of friends for a mid-week drink at this Ballard favorite. My drink of choice was the Wassail, a holiday spiced cider. A more traditional cider in comparison to some of their wacky flavors. Their outside patio is large, with a variety of both covered and uncovered seats available. While they don't serve food onsite, you can view their website for a calendar of upcoming food trucks. My favorite brewery in Seattle, hands down. I would also place this in my personal top 10 all time. I would rate this place a 5 alone based on their customer service. From being incredibly welcoming, to making great recommendations, this place has it all. As for the space, plenty of seating inside and outside. Lots of open patio spaces. Roomy inside as well. I been here a few times already and they are always hopping ( pun intended) always great choices of beers and ciders. Quite a few you only get at the tap houses. Service is always prompt with the pours and cheers! This time was the added bonus of Salish Sea oysters in the house serving some of the best oysters around. Great beer and fresh oysters... it doesn't get much better. They also have a rotating food truck schedule, so you never go without food as well as great beers. I highly recommend coming during fresh hop season as they get the freshies in from Yakima as quick as they're kegged and canned. One of many great breweries to visit for a Ballard beer crawl. I had great and knowledgeable tap staff they knew their beer . They do several Collabs due to their own hop farm other brewers do not have their capabilities. That's why they're the best !! Such a cool place! Lots of seating options and a really nice outdoor area to hang out in. We came to try the cider options and a few of us tried flights. They also had ginger beer and root beer for non alcoholic options. I loved my flight, as did everyone in my group who got one! There was not one bad cider. None of the options I tried were too sweet and all of them had nice flavor profiles. Definitely would highly recommend stopping here if you're a cider fan. Came to Bale Breaker as a second stop on a bit of a brew crawl crossing it off the list. Good crowd with some decent choices on the menu. The history of Bale Breaker is a family-owned brewery out of Yakima sharing the same space is Yonder Cider which makes it's apples in Wenatchee. I think this is a pretty cool combo where you have double the choices where usually there may be only a handful of choices for either of the beverages. I've had yonder from can purchases elsewhere but not draft so perhaps on another visit I'll try that; this visit was strictly a beer try out. I sampled a few of the beers tried the bottom and topcutters which each brought their own levels and hints of piney, floral, bitterness. I settled on the Weed Garden which had the aroma to match the prior samples but also a fruity slight pineapple taste. Will be back to try more at Bale Breaker + Yonder. read more

Wow this place is massive. Just descended upon it with 10 people on a Saturday and it was super busy. Luckily it is huge so we snagged a spot. The beer is great and so is the cider. I would say it has the best cider selection in the city. read more

It's fine. There is a huge selection of beer and cider and the employees are nice enough. The sweetest cider was too sour for me. Lots of unevenly heated options on the patio and in the cold tent. No food, which is a bummer and they only had one food truck that was out of sausage by 4:30 and everything else except pulled pork by 5pm. I think a larger variety of food options would have made me happier. I got coleslaw and pulled pork and ended up spending $30. It's SO LOUD HERE. There's a remarkable amount of dogs at this place, and they are allowed everywhere onsite, inside and out, which means you're going to hear a lot of yelping and see uncontrolled canines. I'm a marketer's dream: I saw a commercial for Yonder and went later that afternoon, and I'm glad I did! It's a wonderful brewery/cidery in Ballard; I personally loved the variety of beers and ciders since you typically don't find that offering at a single brewery. Yonder truly caters to all, and the staff is very knowledgeable about what beverage may meet your fancy! The large outdoor patio was very accommodating, too, and is great for both large and small parties with long benches and lawn chairs around firepits. Great ambiance! The environment of this place is just so friendly for people and their pupperonis. They were also pretty poppin' for a Thursday evening too. The drinks (ciders and beers) are pretty tasty, and there is plenty of seating everywhere inside and out. Glad this building has gotten filled with a brewery AND a cidery all in one spot! Where they are located is where Popaluxe Brewing used to be (R.I.P.). Bale Breaker is based out of Yakima, Washington and Yonder is based in Seattle. They had issues with their location and continued operations thanks to their neighbors it is believed so it's great that they can have a tasting room now and hopefully with less hassle. When you come into the entrance you are in kind of an area where they sell Bale Breaker and Yonder merchandise and cans to go. As you proceed towards the back is where you will find the beer and cider on tap. Since we are dealing with a brewery and a cidery I got a beer and a cider each. I have had both Bale Breaker beer and Yonder Cider in cans before. So for the cider it was great getting something fresh off the tap. I got Yonder's wonderful Sunnyslope cider. This is a grapefruit cider which had all the right moves. It was flavorful, not too bitter and not too sweet. Practically perfect when it comes to cider and grapefruit. It was then Bale Breaker's turn. I got a pilsner that I really enjoyed a lot. Nice biscuit like aspect in the flavor and not too weighty on the stomach. The outdoor seating when the building had Popaluxe was great and the new tenants maintained this feature. Lots of space to enjoy you beverages at( if it isn't too cold or inclement) with plenty of seating and fires to sit by to stay toasty. Brand new taproom! I had to add it to Yelp! Bale Breaker Beer and Yonder Cider Company join forces in this new taproom. No food, but great tasting hard cider and beers on a plethora of rotating taps. See pictures. It was my friend's birthday gathering and he invited us all to this grand opening since he is a big fan of Yonder Cider! This was everyone's first time here as they just opened yesterday to the public. It was jammed, however the two lines at the tap bar moved quickly as the staff has designed a system to move the crowd along. You order at a register at the tap-bar, pay, and then step aside to wait for another staffer to pour and deliver your choice of beers or ciders. Very fast! Reminds me of Walt Disney's "People Eater" concept that allows for a continuous uninterrupted flow of customers entering and exiting rides simultaneously and continuously. They can keep your tab open if you leave them your CC. Saving even more time! No fumbling for your card. It's in the computer! They have a very large and nicely appointed outdoor area you can bring your drinks and sit or stand outside with your friends. Although you are required to wear a mask while in line for the tap bar, the outside area was mostly maskless and extremely crowded on this opening day. I was a little concerned for the maskless children running around out there, and was moved to mention this to one parent who did not seem concerned. I do not blame the establishment for this. "You'll be sorry when one of them gets sick". I thought, and retreated to my party. So, great beers, cider, pleasant outdoor area, and great serving process to speed up long lines! I don't see how you could create a better taproom, and for those reasons, I am awarding 5 stars! Congratulations Bale Breaker and Yonder Cider on your new taproom. Stopped by the new Ballard location after picking up some Rad Bikes! First impression was a good one! Walking through the wide open beer garden, couldn't help but notice all the seating! The bar, and the atmosphere was top notch. Very PNW vibe! My husband and I love to try new beers, so naturally we got a flight. Here comes the BIG fat negative... (for me!) They have pre-determined flight lists. You do not get to pick your own. For this area I think that's the wrong way to go. True beer lovers want to experience ALL the beers! When I visit a new brewery, I want to try everything on tap! Samples are the way to be able to do this and not get completely annihilated. They had about 7-8 beers on tap we hadn't had yet, and wanted to try - but we only got to try 4. One of the beers on the (pre-determined) sample list, I had already had previously. Luckily for me I had a great beertender who let me swap out one of the samples for something I hadn't had before. That was awesome service, I was so appreciative! Frankly he was the reason why I gave an extra star. Cool spot, but I truly hated the pre determined flight option. I hope this changes! LET THE PEOPLE CHOOSE THEIR OWN BEERS!!! read more

So many environments to meet and drink in! I wish I remembered to take photos but before I visited I only saw a an indoor and outdoor section but there was so much more! My friends and I got a private room in the back for our last-minute birthday celebration, and a good thing too - There were at least two other birthday groups there, also with balloons and cake! The beer and cider options seemed endless and the pourers were generous with their knowledge, suggestions, and tastings. There was a BBQ food truck the Saturday we were there and sounded like something is always being served out front. Looking forward to visiting again very soon! read more

Came here on a beautiful sunny day in January and had a wonderful time! Great beer and cider options. They also had hot cider which was delicious! The outdoor space is large with several fire pits that kept us cozy when the sun started getting low. There was also a tent set up outside with heaters inside. No food at the actual brewery but food truck posted up outside and they have no issues with you bringing food in. We brought our baby and saw many other people with kids as well as pets. We actually came here with the Lunch On The Plate food truck as the main reason. Of course, we stayed for a drink. Their outdoor area is huge, with plenty of tables and benches, and they have a small indoor seating area, as well. Their ciders are a good balance of sweet versus dry. They had a lot of IPA's on tap when we were there. Don't be like me and be wary of their cider slushies for fear of looking basic for ordering one. They are SO good and I've been thinking about those stupid slushies ever since we left. Again, just the right amount of sweetness without the side effect of a headache from too much sugar. read more

Came by on Sunday and it was a beautiful sunny day. The staff was awesome. We got there as 12 PM as soon as it opened so we could secure a spot outside for 15 people. The outdoor seating is a great place to lounge around and enjoy the sun. Loved to see all the dogs out. Beer was awesome. Try the mango IPA and their list of Hazy IPA's. A great brewery and taproom in Ballard with a huge outdoor patio space and tons of tasty ciders and beers. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and it was poppin'. There were tons of tables open both indoors and outdoors -- we were hanging and playing some games (and spotted tons of cute dogs)! The beers are numbered so it's super easy to order and the bartenders are great about making recommendations.
