The first Vanguard spa I bought in 2006 is at my daughter's home, it hasn't been moved and stopped working last spring 2024. We had 2 service calls and it was still not repaired. We were told to have the electrical going to the spa checked which we did using the electrician that the shop recommends. Ken Thompson and he said the electric and the 50 amp are perfect. The issue is the spa works for about a day then shuts off. Something is triggering. I went in the Shop over a week ago as my daughter who is a full time High school teacher & her husband a fire fighter don't have time to follow up on this and get it fixed and she asked me to please get it repaired. With David Grant, I relayed that we had electric connections checked out and it's the spa needing repair still. And I asked that he pass on this critical info to the repair manager This is an open ticket since starting last June or July 2024 I believe. So I'm hoping for some priority since this repair issue is long time pending and my little grandsons want to use the spa as a warm pool. As well as my daughter and her husband who both work hard daily. This repair order should be prioritized over all the orders taken since as it's not been fixed and the other requests that came in after should be repaired after. It's an open ticket I'm waiting for a phone call to set up the repair appointment. Since this spa is old now we are wondering if perhaps it needs new mother board or of maybe the heater is triggering it to overheat and shut off. Something is triggering a shut down and diagnostics need to be ran. Please schedule the appointment as we are repeat spa buyers and the original spa repair request is from last summer. We are loyal Hot Spring customers and want many more years using these wonderful spas. Please all of us and the grandsons ages 3 and 7 will be so grateful Thank you ! I purchased a 2019 in 2018. We were given specks for for placement of our electrical so we followed them for a slab we had poured. Turns out the manufacture didn't apparently provide the stove & spa center with the correct specs for the electrical so they say. So when they came to install the spa the electrical was In the wrong spot. Wesley the owner of this company reworked the system and cut a new input for the Electrical. But what they failed to do was fill the original cut out for the Electoral. So a rat got in and chewed up the wires. We called them and they came out and charged us 700.00 to fix it. Since this was during the covid crisis and local businesses are suffering I said I would pay but they should have filled the original cut out so rats wouldn't have gotten in. This guy literally argues with me after I agreed to pay. Saying it was my fault and that I had said I had a rat problem at instillation This was amazing to me because it was not true. That is concerning and is a character issue. Not to mention he didn't give me any indication he was going to charge me. In fact he didn't quote me anything until he was done and gave me a bill. My brother took a look at it and found a ground wire that wasn't even landed. Another words he left a wire unconnected that was arching periodically against another live wire. What to expect if you buy a Watkins/Endless Pool swim spa... =The drawings and specifications of the swim spa had all kinds of dimensional errors. We had to rework our custom deck installation to accomodate the as-built unit. I notified Ben Harper of Watkins in writing of these issues on 12/19/17. =Two of the spa corners cracked within months of installation. I showed the Installer (Stove and Spa Center) on 11/30/18; he said he'd have a fiberglass specialist repair them. Never heard from him again on the subject. Cracks are still there... =Original spa VacuSeal cover had deteriorated by 3/26/20. I notified Installer and the cover was replaced under warranty. =New spa lifter cover was installed and, within days, it was tearing at one corner. I sent installer photos, but nothing was done. =When Stove and Spa Center installed the replacement cover, they overtightened two of the lift nuts -- breaking the bolts. I sent Installer photos -- no response. So I had to install new bolts. =Last summer, the filter pump/motor failed. After several weeks, Installer came to install the replacement -- but it was the wrong pump. He had to send it back and wait for the new one to arrive and be replaced under warranty. =On May 14 of this year, I notified Installer that our replacement spa cover was deteriorating. It didn't even last two years --despite monthly saddle soap/303 treatments. I was informed that the 3-year warranty applied only to the originally purchased cover, and that a new cover would be ~$2000. Our experience tells me that it will cost me ~$2000 every other year to replace this cover. ==Does this look like a product that cost us over $20,000 less -- than 5 years ago? read more

We went in to Stove and Spa to look at the endless pool Swim Spa, Sept of 2020. We joyfully got our Swim Spa in July of 2021. Oi Vay. It was worth the wait. Lora and Wesley were great to work with. Our only hick up was having to pay an extra $1000 because the tax went up in the time we waited. I really think Endless Pools should of split the cost of the $1000 between the store and us but I know in this world if I don't get all caught up in the transaction and let this go it will come back to us two fold. We bought a Hot Springs Flair spa from Stove and Spa, Atascadero, in the spring of 2016. Wesley and his team did a great job craning it over our house. Recently, I called Stove and Spa to inform them that the spa was totally inoperable. Wesley called me back the very next morning. I described what was happening and he said that it sounded like a failed control panel. He said that he had one in his van and could stop by around 3 pm that very same day. Of course, I agreed. He showed up at 3 and replaced the control panel. As we are still under warranty, he told me that there was nothing to sign. I have to recommend the Stove and Spa Shop of Atascadero. I purchased a Hearthstone Sterling DV gas Freestanding Stove about a month ago and we just got it installed. First I will say that Wes came out and showed us the best placement for our stove, he then came out on the delivery day and participated in the installation. There was a gas line that needed to be installed and the contractor contacted Wes and got direction from him. Ultimately there were a couple of places for the gas line to end up, one easy the other not as. Wes suggested the location that was more difficult and I now.. know why, it is hidden nicely and if it weren't for Wes, it would not have been placed there. Next the install. It took a long time to do the install and a couple of unforeseen hiccups took place. Wes worked through them, none of them his fault....and completed our installation in a very professional manner. Every aspect done correctly and perfectly. The House that I have is fairly new and well insulated. It is 2840 Square Feet and the unit we purchased will heat an 1800 Square foot home. 38,000 BTU. We expected that it would do a good job but are blown away by how well it ACTUALLY performed. Currently we are able to keep our main living area at 70+ degrees and hallways to the bedrooms as same. We are surprised by how hot the stove is and how well it heats. We have a ceiling fan on that circulates the heat and all is good. After a couple of nights now, we are in the 30s outside and the stove is keeping most of our living area in the 70 range. Here is the cool part, This stove is on LOW. We don't have a need to turn it to high as it will cook you out of the room. If you are considering a gas freestanding stove, don't hesitate....purchase it and take Wes's advice on the installation. He knows what he is doing. Potentially if it gets into the teens, as it can do here, we may need to turn it on high. So far, no need to. Thanks gang at the Stove and Spa Shop of Atascadero. My husband and I came in a few weeks ago trying to find a solution to our broken fireplace (other than tearing out and replacing the whole unit). Lora and her staff went above and beyond what we ever expected to help us! They called around to see if they could get the broken part (and confirmed for us these parts are no longer manufactured). They continued to be helpful by then giving us a name of a contractor who could help us find a solution with no benefit to them. They also showed us other options that we could do that wouldn't entail ripping out our whole system (i.e. putting in an electric unit). We are so grateful that they took that much time to help us explore our options, it's definitely rare to find customer service like that these days!! This is probably one of the best stove and spa shop I have ever been to! the staff was extremely knowledgeable and we save a lot of money by buying a very nice spa. Upon setting it up I had a airlock in my piping to my pump I called the spa Center and believe it or not one of the owners came out at 8 PM and was able to get my hot tub up and running. Later that week I went to get my water tested by them and was provided a very thorough explanation of what to do to keep my pool running great. If you are thinking about getting a spa this is the only place that you need to go don't waste your time or money these people are number one in my book. read more

Do not buy a fireplace from these people. I purchased a gas insert from the stove and spa shop Jan of 2012 It was a month before it was installed. That same Dec. it wouldn't work so we wait another month for Wesley to come in and rub emery paper on the outlet where the gas comes out and charges us for that. Now, not even a year later it's broken again. We have waited a month already and they now have to order a part, with no estimate as to how long my tenant will be without heat. My tenant and I have both been to the shop for an estimated time that they will come out but oh they are too busy installing spas to take care of us or even call. First rainy day and the new fireplace is ON and keeping us warm:))) LOVE this purchase and the fact that the heater hasn't been on one day since we put this in. Update: JANUARY 2014 we have now had our Kozy Heat fireplace insert for 10 months and could not be happier with this purchase!! It kept us cozy and warm during those chilly days in Nov and Dec, and the ambience of the beautiful looking fire is wonderful. Besides having the heat, which our wood burning fireplace really didn't provide, the very BEST thing about having an insert is .... NOT breathing the smoke!! Our neighbors have been burning wood, and their fireplace smoke literally invades our house. There are nights I go to bed and have to breathe through the sheets to keep from coughing. I also forgot how much ash used to get all over the house .... No more!! Really wish everyone would change over to inserts. We could all breathe easier!!!! read more

I bought a pellet stove several years ago here. I love the stove but cannot say the same for the follow up service. I have tried to get parts and just get static and poor customer service. My wife went in to get or order a simple part and the owner told her she would have to bring in a picture of the part. Please note their office has a complete exploded view of parts for our stove and the owner could have looked it up and ordered it. We would have paid for the part and the stove would have been fixed. Years back we had them service or stove and they did not bring the parts needed to do a pre requested repair along with the cleaning service. They also said that there was a seized bolt in the area in need of repair. I ordered the part ON-LINE and fixed the problem myself....there was no seized bolt. I try to spend my money locally but I will not go here again. read more

I purchased a Jetsetter Spa in April. 2015 from Spa & Stove Center located in Atascadero, CA. My sales person was Lora, the co-owner of the store. Lora was very pleasant during my search for a spa to fit my needs. She showed me all the various spas available and after weighing the information given to me, I settled on the Hot Spring Jetsetter Spa. She was great at answering the typical questions regarding the operation of the spa. I love using my spa for my medical needs. I also love the low access of the spa. It is relatively easy to get in and out of the spa as opposed to larger, taller spas. However, anyone considering purchasing a Jetsetter should be aware there are some important issues to consider before purchasing: The salesperson (co-owner) did not disclose that using an Uprite Cover Lifter on the Jetsetter model necessitates having to dismantle the lifter arm on one side of the spa (the arm that's attached to the spa equipment panel cover) EACH AND EVERY TIME THE COMPARTMENT PANEL NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OFF. This means every time the ozone system is cleaned (4x/year for even 10 years = 30 times), and every time any equipment needs to be looked at and/or repaired. It's not very easy and is time consuming. The serious issue is that wood screws are blindly screwed into the spa. I do not believe it will take very many spa cover on and offs for these screws to strip and the spa cover rendered unusable. For 7 1/2 months neither the Stove & Spa Center nor the manufacturer would stand behind this well known defect and warranty the cover arm. I always mention to the store owner that if the manufacturer would just use the same helical inserts (metal thread inserted in the wood as the receptacle for a bolt) that is used for the access panel bolts there would not be a problem. During the initial setup by the Spa & Stove Center tech, I noticed the poor design of the spa cover arm attachment to the spa access panel would not screw in flush on the spa access panel because it was unwisely designed to go over the spa logo light. To make the attachment flush I found a specialized sublimation heat pad I happen to have that would serve to fill and gap and make the attachment flush without scratching the light or the panel finish. Also during the initial setup, it was necessary to re-enforce the flimsy piece of wood holding the ozone system tube located inside the access panel. The piece of wood was held by one screw and would have broken off before the tube could be detached (for cleaning) unless I supplied an additional piece of oak wood and screws to stabilize the original block of wood. (4) I was fortunate that my son's good friend and co-worker at a nuclear plant is a well qualified electrician. The spa requires its own electrical power source which is normally an expensive pre-requisite for owning a spa. My son's friend was gracious enough to do the electrical work for parts cost only. The job took several hours. It was not possible to test the spa until an employer from the Stove & Spa center did additional set up procedures and showed me spa care procedures. It is only after the employee left that water is put in the spa. The water temperature only went up by a degree or two for the next 15 hours. The spa is supposed to heat much faster than this so I called Lora. I told her I had talked to my electrician acknowledging there was power to the spa. I told her there wasn't any warm water coming through the bottom inlet. Lora is not the tech person so she said if I was willing to hold for a few minutes she would talk to her husband, who is very knowledgable about the workings of their spas. Lora came back to the phone a few minutes later stating "I know exactly what's wrong. I'll send someone over first thing tomorrow to fix the problem". The work order was labeled warranty work. The problem turned out to be a jumper cable my electrician inadvertently put on the wrong terminal block. I got a bill for $107.25 because it was not warranty work. I agree. What I disagree with was the "I know EXACTLY why the spa won't heat" (deemed warranty work). If she had said "it could be one of two potential problems which might not be covered by your warranty," I would have called my FREE electrician (who had already told me to call if I had any electrical problems (house or spa). I didn't call him because it would have been a 70 mile round trip and I was told it was warranty work. Please note I'm guessing the bill was based on travel and time on the job. This means I was paying for the labor of having to disassemble and reassemble the spa cover bracket. This review will be updated every time I have to disassemble the arm of the spa cover just to clean the ozone system. I was told if I take care of the spa it should last 20 years. I guess that means I'll be updating this review a minimum of 60 times! 1/17 UPDATE: Dismantled my spa cover to change the water. WHAT A PAIN !!!!!! read more

Very very disappointed a few years back my husband and I put a 500.00 deposit on a spa. As time passed and financial issues changed we no longer had use for the spa we wanted to buy so, we decided to call and ask about getting our deposit back. We read carefully through the agreement and there is no place in it stating that we would not get our deposit back if we decided against the spa. After all It's a DEPOSIT!!! My husband called every day for over a week and their staff kept saying Wes was not available but would call us back. He never did.. poor customer service ... my husband even stopped in. And POLITLY asked again .. Wes wasn't there but my husband was assured Wes would call him. He never did. So, on Saturday morning my husband called again and yes Wes was there .. my husband the easy going guy as he is asked again for our money back Wes flat out said NO .. shocked? Yes we are too .. who steals 500. From a costumer and sleeps well at night .. and as they told us when we were going to buy from them that they are Christens and asked us to write a good review in yelp for them. true story! Wes continually told my husband he was pushy and was demanding his money back. That is not my husbands personality he is completely opposite of that he hates confrontation. Now if it were me trying to get our stollen money back there would be some demanding going on. end of conversation goes like this.. Wes: angrily, I can give you a store credit My husband: we are not going to buy anything from you plus you raised the price of the spa (which they Randomly did) Wes: well that's your choice that's what I'm offering you My husband : we just need our money back things are difficult at home right now. So if you have a change of heart call me otherwise we will have to take another route. Wes: hung up the phone I would have given Stove and Spa a big fat 0 but yelp makes you give a star so they get a #1 saddened by such poor customer service read more

After moving to our new house, it was time to buy a hot tub for my spa, soaking-loving husband. This would be our 4th spa so we knew exactly what we were looking for in size, quality, price and amp capability. We were met by Lora, spa representative, who remembered my husband through numerous phone calls and emails. She was very knowledgeable, professional and friendly and helped us pick just the right hot tub for his needs. We decided on the 2016 Hot Spot SX, white pearl acrylic shell with esprsso everwood cabinet. The installer first came to checkout the layout and to make sure all was okay before the delivery. Delivery day came, installed with no problem, cleaned up after themselves and off they went.
