This store is a small business that is run by two or three people behind the counter. I have not purchased a wood stove from this store but have purchased my supplies here. Since this place is a small business, you may have to wait more than a few minutes for service. You cannot come in here in a rush and expect to be served. On the other hand, I've come in here and been the only one in the store and had Amber's undivided attention. The store is in a slightly seedy stretch of Warwick Avenue and you could easily miss the storefront which is simply just a cinder block structure with floor to ceiling windows in the front. In fact, if you pass the sign for the store you've gone too far. Are the prices the most competitive you'll find anywhere including Internet? Probably not. But I feel that they do reflect some competitive pricing for brick and mortar stores in the area that work with wood stoves and the like - which are few and far between in Rhode Island.They have a huge selection of wood stoves and pellet stoves and gas stoves in their showroom. It is neat and nicely laid out. They also have a nice selection of stove accessories - cleaning tools,steamers and repair kits in stock. The service is pleasant and professional. They are not going to fall over themselves waiting on you. But who really needs that? They've got a business to run and I get a sense they appreciate me as a customer. When I do have to wait, they at least acknowledge me - and thank me for being patient. I wish the hours were a little bit more expansive , but I'm glad to make a trip over here during their scheduled hours. Let me preface this review by stating that I have spent a good sum of money here in 2014 alone. With that being said, these people are the rudest most inconsiderate group of people I have ever encountered and I will not be spending another red cent there again even if their prices are the cheapest around. Both owners and workers lack any firm of gratitude or respect towards their customers nor do they care to deliver on their word. To make a long story short, I am going on week 5 waiting for my stove to be delivered and installed. I was told it was in stock, I would receive a call in 3 weeks time for scheduling. I just called in and was laughed at when asked why I haven't received a call and told that I need to continue to wait for my stove to arrive. My stove that was supposedly in stock. My advise is to go somewhere else where you will be treated like a person rather than a pile of s#! +. This is my go to place to heat my home on a cold RI night. I wish that I bought my pellet stove from this shop, but unfortunately I found out after the fact. I can not directly comment on the stove selection and pricing, but I would guess they are competitive. They do not offer chimney sweeping, but can recommend a few great options. I use this store for my pellets that I buy every year (roughly 4 tons). The bonus of Stovepipe Fireplace is that they will store your pellets until you need them. Now you don't have to choose between parking a car in the garage or keeping the house warm. I typically pick up 20 bags at a time which save a ton of space. My biggest complaint is the staff. I never know if I am going to be greeted with a smile or a look of annoyance as if I am bothering them by stopping into the store. If you are looking for convience and a simple way to take care of your winter heating needs this place is worth stopping in for a visit. read more

Never ever ever would recommend this place. I purchased my insert mid December, it's just working NOW for the first time. I was told after I'd paid and was told they'd take care of everything, that oh yeah you need a plumber.....the guy they sent was outrageously priced and snotty, so I got another quote, almost 1/2 as much and that included the electrical outlet that would hide the cord for the blower (salesperson had told me to 'put a plant in front of it' to hide it!).....I was told it would be installed by early January, it wasn't even here until end of January, their installer booked my install date and then did not show up, when I called, he was on the other side of the state doing another job, he agreed to come the next day instead. Then the logs were missing, the installer called the shop and they tried to blame it on my plumber stealing them (???). Turns out they were never ordered. I called 2 weeks ago and was told they were in (NOBODY has EVER called me to tell me anything!) and with the log installer, called again a week later, and they said they were in, I said you told me that last week.....the log installer came today, put them in (I could have done it!) showed me how to work it, etc. I asked him about the pilot light and the gas parts being so visible, he said that's the way it should be, no, I took the logs out and put them in place with the pegs as was shown in the brochure and it's fine now...... They never apologized for anything, the installer who didn't show up did and worked on a Saturday to get it done did a nice job and was very nice. There was NO communication at all unless I called. The Salesperson/owner has no people skills at all, the girls in the office are nice, but once again, I had to call and stay on top of them constantly to get it done, and it took 3 full months, not 3-4 weeks as I was told. I bought a gas fireplace insert only one year ago and during this horrible winter I have not had a working insert. Stovepipe has come out four times, only after at least a week and several calls later each time. They can not fix it and not replacement has been made!!! $3000.00 down the tubes. This company does not back up its products and its service is extremely poor. Do NOT buy your stove here unless you have money to throw away and want to stay cold in the winter! read more

Good place to buy and store your stove pellets for the winter season. Plenty of stoves and parts sold here. Nice store dogs roam the store floor. Staff can be grumpy but they're harmless and take care of their customers. I'm a fan. read more

Ok so I would give 4 stars but...not to happy with everything after we left. Me and my bf were looking for a pellet stove insert to put in. We came across this place. Although they also were not too informative (had to look in the manual to answer any questions) if my bf didnt know what he was doing they really wouldnt have been too much help to someone that isnt familar with these and how to build them into the wall and/or which one is better than another one etc. But the owner still seemed friendly I wouldnt really say rude like I read in the other comments just not overly friendly or welcoming. He was telling us how he allows his customers to store their pellets at his business over the winter season if they do not have enough room at there house so I thought he seemed nice enough. Anyways we were deciding between two different types of pellet stoves one they sold one they did not. We were going to continue looking that day but the owner kept saying he would knock a few hundred dollars off the price and throw in the vent kit free so we changed our minds and decided to buy. That would have all been great and when we left we would have been very pleased but after we got home I had a feeling he didnt give us the big discount he said (and I normally do all the investigating beforehand but didnt and dont know why) so I called around to some other local Enviro dealers to get some price quotes and we actually paid around $100-$150 more than everyone else is selling them for. So Im assuming he told us an inflated price then pretended to come down on the price by a large sum. If not for that we would have been happy. I hate phoney business men and for that we will not be returning. Just be honest with your customers and they will always return. We could have brought it right back but thought its not the end of the world it is also extremely heavy to be lugging back and forth. The stove itself is fine but the price could have been better if we went somewhere else. read more

Today i went in to find a pellet stove pipe fitting. I went to the counter and met the miserable old man that made me wanna write this review. I told him "im trying to pipe a pellet stove into a chimney. I have 4 inch pipe and a 6 inch hole in the chimney and i need a fitting to insert the pipe into the chimney ". He asked what kind of stove it was (Like it matters) and if i bought it from him when i told him i didn't he could care less about helping me. It took 5 minutes of explaining for him to understand what i was looking for and when he did figure it out he asked me what the fitting is called. I told him that i don't know and the hes the pellet stove dealer then he said " im almost 70 and I've dealt with stupid people for to long, i can't help you " i told him to go f#!$ himself and gave my money to lowes. Id rather freeze then give that business a cent of my hard earned money. read more

I bought a stove from this business and it took 3 months for install after the they delivered with a broken glass door. They contract the install out to someone else. So when he came out for install he didn't have the proper items because someone at Stove Shop gave wrong information to him.Sales woman Amber rude and unprofessional. I called her numerous times and she calls you back sometimes and sometimes doesn't care to. She would be taking to you on the phone and would abruptly turn to someone else and talk to them while you are talking to her on the phone. They received all their money upon delivery so they don't care to deal with you after that .I blame all of this on the owner for this, your employees reflect you. The BBB is my next stop. read more

We have shopped here for many years buying our grill and fireplace insert at Stovepipe as well as many accessories. We also have our propane tanks refilled there. Stovepipe consistently provides fantastic customer service---even coming to our home after store hours on a Friday evening following a recent severe storm that blew out our fireplace pilot light. The technician was on time, professional and even brought a covering to protect our floor and hearth! It doesn't get any better than that folks! read more

Building my home, I've dealt with DOZENS of different vendors and contractors, this is by far the WORST service or experience that I've had thus far. Not only would I not recommend this vendor, but I suggest that you run in the other direction. Dishonest, misleading, rude, and useless. No matter how much you think you may be saving by buying here, IT IS NOT WORTH IT! Do yourself a huge favor and buy elsewhere. I bought a Wood stove fireplace insert this past March '13. From day 1, it did not not work properly. The blower should start after 20 minutes, and it takes 2 hours every time. The installer (roughly 75 years old - no joke!), has been here three times, and still no luck! It is now October, and "Amber" has ignored two of my emails. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, Spent about $4000.00 on new fireplace insert over a year ago.(fall, 2014). Within 2 weeks had the installer back to try to make the fan work--would not emit hot air. Installer cancelled three times before coming. He said the problem was fixed when he installed new thermostat. Not the case. Still did not work. Called manufacturers and was told that installer omitted a necessary part. Called store repeatedly and was told "maybe I bought the wrong size stove". Stove was suppose to heat 1250 sq ft.-- entire house is less than 1000 sq.ft. Then they said maybe I did not know how to build fire or was using wet wood! REALLY! Made repeated calls to manufacturer and store and today--one year later-- they took out old inset and installed new model. Guess what! Still not right-- surround piece(frame) does not fit and bricks on fireplace are scraped. Now I'm told frame has to be made and will take a few weeks. TOTALLY FRUSTRATED,!! Paid $4000.00 a year ago and still messed up! Go anywhere but here for your purchase if you would like respect and good customer service. read more
