We came on a Saturday at around noon and got seated at 1:30pm. They make this food FRESH. The quality of the food is great, but be prepared to wait. The restaurant is small and seats only around 25 people. Our food took like an hour to come out and our waiters were apologetic but were kind of just like: it'll come out when it's ready. I'd recommend coming on a weekday and getting the pancake and the chicken thigh! The biscuit is a bit dry but delicious. The clam chowder was outstanding but a brunch special. All I have to say is WOW! My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday late morning and had the best brunch. The Bloody Mary special had shrimp, an oyster, pickles, bacon, and FRIED OLIVES! Yum!! We ordered the salmon rillette which was amazing. I got the sawmill breakfast for my meal and my bf got the egg Benedict special w/ crispy prosciutto. The mushroom gravy for mine was so rich and tasteful. It's such a cozy, quaint, wholesome spot. The service was a bit slow, but the bartender/ (owner?) was so nice and hospitable. WOW! Amazing place for mushroom biscuits and gravy! As a southerner, I long ago accepted I could not get proper biscuits in NYC, but The Stowaway totally proved me wrong. Went here with a buddy and got the mushroom gravy over a giant biscuit, along with a side of the hashbrowns. The hush puppies hit all the right places! You really cannot go wrong with an order of those for the table (or a truly famished solo food adventurer!). The portions = massive. The staff is beyond friendly, and everyone working the space and kitchen should all get raises! Get thee to the Stowaway post-haste! I know I'll be coming back soon. Went here today for brunch. Had the crab roll with salad. Amazing! Husband had the pancake, daughter had blueberry pancake. Delicious. Unfortunately the waitress mixed up the fourth dish so we had to wait for it. The chicken. Worth the wait but would've been nice if she wrote it down. We will be back! Tiny cozy place. Being a white man in an interracial relationship, I've seen my share of sketchy if not outright racist behavior from miserable humans. But tonight was a first when the bar tender/server decided he didn't like his tip (he shouldn't have gotten a cent tbh) so he came out from behind the bar and literally threw the tip at my African American partner. When I tell you the only reason we remained in control is because we have too much to lose, otherwise things could have gotten very bad. Also: there's a heatwave going on rn and there was no temperature control. The door was open and a fan was blowing. The oysters weren't fresh. I was able to smell them way too far away. Just overall a very bad experience. Besides that, the other bartender was a misogynist. The two there tonight really meant to find each other in life. Can't recommend this place. Excited to try this place for brunch but the host that is wearing a red shirt today did not grant me a proper customer service. I requested seating for two, took my name and said approximately 25min. Went ahead to seat another couple after 5-7min and then i asked how long was ny wait, and was informed just one person and i said no, for two. Because i stated two people after me were seated, and then said your party has to be here already, i proceeded to state my mom is outside in car because she has difficulty standing up for long period and just kept stating party has to be here and when asked whats their name and was rude by walking away. Dont do it. Arrived at 1:50pm. Was not acknowledged for 10 minutes. Sat down and waited another 20 minutes to place our order (2:20pm). Food did not arrive until 3:20pm. Ridiculous. This place is not big - fits 30 people max. The amount of people who came and left before being served was unreal. Everybody complained - nothing changed. This is not based on the waitress who tried her best. She was making drinks, taking orders, apologizing. I dont know whos the owner of this establishment but theyre doing a horrendous job at managing, customer satisfaction, efficiency, and many many more. I'll be back because the food is delicious and I love the decor. Unfortunately, they seem to have bad customer service as a matter of policy. You are suggested to pay a minimum service tip of 20% before you even sit down. Then, when you do, you have to get up, cross the room, and refill your own tiny water glass (which wasn't fun for a disabled person). After the food arrives there is no checking in to see how things are, whether you need anything else, etc. Are we supposed to self-serve our own coffee refills too? It was almost funny, but mostly insulting. Took awhile to get my food. The pancake is huge, thick and fluffy and ask for extra syrup because you're going to need it but they won't be the best pancakes you ever had. The eggs are quality, flavorful and good. I didn't care too much about the bacon and sausage. If I lived in the area, I would come back with friends. I won't go out of my way for it. It's a good spot to bring a friend or significant other. Small restaurant and they use the space well, but you're a bit close to other patrons. Lastly, the orange juice they served tasted very similar to the Tropicana orange juice you find in the supermarket. It would have been nice if it was freshly squeezed orange juice. Stowaway is very cute place to grab a bite to eat. When I called about reservations I was told The establishment doesn't take them, so on a busy day make sure you come early. I came on a Saturday at 12:30 and there was no wait for a group of three. I ordered the sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich which comes on a biscuit. I would say the food was okay, but nothing out of this world. I liked the eggs which they mixed with the cheddar cheese but the biscuit was a bit on the dry side. I wouldn't mind coming back and trying a different dish on their menu. read more

My elderly mother got food poisoning at the restaurant this afternoon. This evening @ 6:50 pm we contacted the restaurant and requested to speak to the manager on duty. After speaking to the the person claiming to be the manager on duty who refused to give his name. When he question why I needed his name and he was very dismissive. He stated am I on trail and stated it was a shame what happened. The called ended with no managers name and no resolution. While the call was coming to a close what did your mother eat. After telling the manager poor hygiene or lack of food safety or both could have contributed to the illness. Unknow if others that dinned at the restaurant at any time today my have become sick. Its a shame that the restaurant would hire someone to manage the restaurant who lacks compassion. read more

Don't bother. I'd give them 0 stars if I could. Decided to try this place since I live in the neighborhood and regret it. As soon as we walked in for brunch no one greeted us but we figured they were busy and we just sat at the bar. After 10 minutes or so of waiting to see if someone will take our order I got a servers attention and we ordered something to drink. We got our drinks and immediately put in our order which was literally just a biscuit with butter and shrimp and grits. There were people who I saw get seated after us and were getting their food and after waiting 45- 50 minutes we finally gave up and decided to leave. Everyone working there simply ignored us. Keep in mind we were also the only POC in there so that was not great to feel conveniently getting no service compared to everyone else in the place. I work in the customer service industry and know the difference between busy and just bad customer service. No one explained why it was taking so long or even remotely apologetic about it, we were given attitude and told "brunch gets busy". The bartender with the biker vest checked us out passive aggressively and slammed his hand on the machine to check us out which was disgusting. We were not treated like humans. I will never return and never recommend this place , GP has many great places that treat customers with respect and with great food take your business somewhere else! read more
