So I dont really eat boil bags, with buttered seasoning but my famoly raved anput the flavor and it was 5 clusters for $45 (which is an absolute bargain). I had the fish and shrimp combo which was really good.

Straight Drop Seafood in Memphis, TN is the real deal! Had an amazing meal here with a shrimp and crab boil and a garlic butter broccoli side. And let's not forget about their homemade drinks - crazy sweet. The service was chill, and the walls had great art on them, not a lot of seating maybe 4/5 2top tables, more of a togo spot. Can't wait to come back

The food was worth every penny, not to mention they give you enough to feed an army for a very reasonable price. These photos are from last night and I'm headed back tonight to get the fried lobster and shrimp. Best seafood in Memphis...shit in Tennessee!

Holy Crab dinner, mouthwatering Cajun seafood , good value! 4 big crab legs with claws, 1/2 lb shrimp, potatoes, 2 corns , sausages for only $35! Fried catfish has crunchy cornmeal crust but moist inside ! Definitely a hidden gem!

I wanted to give five stars just for the fact that the restaurant has REAL catfish and not Swai! However, the cooks are heavy handed on the salt, so they lost a star. If the cooks could cut the salt in half, the catfish meal would be banging ! Great meal presentation and quantity! Overall, this will be my new Memphis catfish spot, with the request to fry the fish hard with light salt. Just please don't ever do the deceitful switch of replacing catfish with Swai and selling it as catfish on the menu. Oh, the hours are amazing! My flight got in late, and I was able to still order HOT catfish! Yes, the food was hot when received. Thanks!

BLACK OWNED ALERT! So late last night I had a taste for some crab legs. Like the type of taste that if I didn't get them I was gone go crazy I've been hearing a lot about @straightdropmemphis and I decided this was my time to see what they were hitting on and to see if this might be my new late night crab spot. BABYYYYY WHEN I TELL YOU STRAIGHT DROP DID WHAT THEY HAD TO DO! It was like 12:45 am and they was serving some immaculate crab legs ya hear me. And the best part about this place is they are serving free BLACK OWNED ALKALINE WATER! This spot is located in the heart of north memphis and serving the people what they want! Pull up on them MEMPHIS!! @straightdropmemphis I'm not really sure of their hours but I went at 12:45am and they were fully operating #foodie #Northmemphis #seafood #travel #traveler #foodgasm #foodporn #memphisfood #foodie #reviews #explore #explorepage #viral #blackfoodblogger #blackfoodie #nolaeats #neworleansfoodie #memphisfoodie #southside #Latenight #caramel #crablegs #straightdrop # #memphis #burger #blackowned

We also tried the Thai tuna roll and coconut shrimp rolls, which were delicious. The sushi did have a thicker layer of rice, so we were pretty full afterward, but the flavors were well balanced. I was especially surprised by the addition of macadamia nuts in one of the rolls, but it added such a great crunch and paired perfectly. We also ordered the street corn and yuca frita which were excellent, especially with the delicious green dipping sauce. To finish, we had the tres leches cake, affogato, and torta de chocolate. The flourless chocolate cake literally melts in your mouth. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and will definitely be back soon!

I had the chicken tenders platter. A tad pricey but was nice walking down memory lane. The chicken tenders are very similar to Houston's Restaurant recipe. The fries and Cole slaw were delicious. Other items we ordered like grilled chicken salads, shrimp louie salad and burgers were quite good! I like how the burger was cut into four pieces for easy eating. Since we had a large party, we had to use one credit card to pay for the meal. I should have asked about that as some of us did not have cash. Also the 20% added tip was fine but when making the reservation, I wish I would have known to inform all the other people in my party. I will know next time. Hostess was very nice and seated us quickly when we arrived. I made an error on adding the tip. I called when I arrived home and the manager fixed my mistake. That is great customer service!! I appreciate him for doing that. I may return to try some other entrees. We did have such a fun time!

One suggestion: the front patio could really benefit from some music. Even a low-volume speaker tied into the DJ's system would help create the same experience outside without disturbing the neighborhood. The biggest challenge is parking. Street parking is risky, and several visitors have learned the hard way that tickets are easy to get. Save yourself the headache and use the parking garage across the street for about $4. It's worth it compared to a $25 parking ticket. Unfortunately, service was the weakest part of the experience. The staff appeared overworked, overwhelmed, and likely short-staffed. While that is understandable, the customer experience suffered. There was very little interaction from greeters, servers, or bartenders. Guests are instructed to wait to be seated, but there was little guidance, communication, or assistance. Long waits and a lack of acknowledgment made the visit frustrating. Food was mixed. The wings and fries were excellent--so good they disappeared before there was time to take a picture. The spring rolls, however, were under-seasoned, slightly overcooked, and only two come with an order, which felt disappointing for the price. The dipping sauces helped, but the filling could have used more flavor. The standout of the night was the Smash It cocktail. Made with Suntory Toki whiskey, basil, lemon, simple syrup, and an absinthe rinse, it was refreshing, balanced, and absolutely delicious. Easily the highlight of the visit. Would I return? Yes. But next time I'll go with adjusted expectations: eat beforehand, enjoy the atmosphere, grab a cocktail, and consider anything else a bonus. Pro Tips: Order the Smash It cocktail. The wings and fries are worth trying. Park in the garage across the street. Don't expect fast service during busy times. If you're hungry, have a snack before you arrive. Great atmosphere and cocktails, but service and parking keep it from reaching its full potential. With better staffing and a little more attention to guests, this place could easily be a 5-star experience.

I can not believe I have not reviewed Soul Fish as of yet. I am a huge fan…read more Let me preface this review by saying ... My grandfather owned two successful catfish restaurants. As a child I grew up on fried fish filets and hush puppies until my grandfather had to retire and sell his restaurant due to his Health. He still cooks up a mess of catfish for us about two or three times a year when we visit. Yum! My standards for good catfish are extremely high. Good fried catfish is not greasy, light cornmeal batter, tender flaky inside, and slightly crispy on the outside. Sounds simple enough but the truth of the matter is... Good fried catfish takes skill. After an epic searched for any decent catfish in Memphis and surrounding areas that took a few years ... My family and I decided to give up. And when I heard about Soul Fish it took some considerable convincing to get them to go. We where, none of us, disappointed! Soul Fish is without a doubt the best Catfish in Memphis. It is perfectly fried... Hushpuppies are tasty, coleslaw edible if not always yummy, fried pickles crisp and tart, pickle green tomatoes so yummy I could swim in them, and vegetables always cooked and seasons well (special recognition to the cabbage, broccoli, and black eyed peas). The service is always friendly, fast, efficient, and correct. The blackened catfish is pretty tasty too ... Sometimes they get a little heavy handed on the seasoning. Deserts are pretty great as well. My sister loves the Mississippi mud chocolate thingy they have (I'm not a chocolate fan). I've introduced many people (about 40 or so) to Soul Fish - locals and visitors alike - and no one ... And I mean not a single one of them where disappointed. So why four stars instead of five? True... the catfish is the best in Memphis - however it is not the best I've ever had. And Sometimes a filet or two at Soul Fish fall short of perfection... However ... I'm a regular and a fan of Soul Fish Cafe. If you have spent hours and disappointed meals trying to find good catfish in Memphis ... Look no further ... This is the place for you. I promise you will not Be disappointed!

Memphis is a slight detour on our way back to Texas, but there was no way we were settling for fast food along the highway. We wanted good seafood--fresh, satisfying, and worth the stop. So glad we chose this spot. From the outside, it's simple and unassuming. Inside, it feels like a slightly bougie fish cafe--clean, cozy, and well-kept, with subtle holiday decor and that warm Southern hospitality greeting you at the door. Our server, Denise, was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. The one-page menu keeps it simple, and she walked us through it along with the daily special. We ordered the gumbo, salmon burger, and a grilled salmon plate--everything tasted fresh and cooked to order. A perfect seafood meal in Tennessee. We left full, happy, and already planning what to try next time. Definitely a spot worth revisiting.

A prime location for a prime steakhouse. The service was strong as was the pacing. I found the server a bit too eager to explain the restaurant and the menu. I'm a ribeye eater so I had a pretty good idea I was getting a ribeye before I went in. I think the talking is used as a way to upsell and push guests towards opaquely priced off-menu "specials" which from my understanding are always on offer (such as their deviled eggs and bone marrow sauce). We started with the beef tartare and duck ravioli. I preferred the tartare, which had a nice spicy seasoning throughout. The duck ravioli had an excellent sauce on it, too. For our mains, I got the prime boneless ribeye ($68) and my brother got the prime strip ($56). We also shared the Yume A5 Wagyu experience ($225), letting us try three different cuts of Wagyu side by side. For sides (about $15/each), we did the fontina potatoes, truffle honey tots, and carrots. We also added the gulf prawns ($21), foie gras ($14), and bone marrow sauce (~$20) which was prepared table side and was plenty to share. It was very rich and peppery, though a bit of a salt bomb. For dessert, we shared the French toast bread pudding with maple butter ($14) which is one of my favorite bread puddings I've tried. They also brought my brother a dessert since it was his birthday, it was something like a raspberry mousse with coconut foam and a sharp raspberry sauce. Excellent. The Yume experience was a big motivation in coming here, as getting to try cuts of A5 Wagyu next to cuts of regular (albeit prime) beef is unique in the Memphis area and really for hours around. It was priced as an experience rather than a food item. It did not disappoint, nor did the prime steaks. The A5 is so unbelievably tender by comparison. My favorite was the ribeye, but I'm biased. My brother, normally a strip guy, agreed with me there. The potato sides were underwhelming, particularly for the price. I don't know how I let my brother talk me into buying him $15 tater tots for his birthday. I could get the carrots again, though. My total was $800 for the two of us for the above food, six cocktails, and tax and tip. A big chunk of that was the Yume experience as well as the drinks (we were celebrating!). If we were to go back, it would be closer to $350 for the two of us, and I would go for the prime ribeye with foie gras again, no need for Wagyu or sauce. I enjoy the sister restaurants in this restaurant group (Coastal Fish, Flight, Southern Social) and frankly I'd bet Porch is the cash cow of the group due to the relatively poor value proposition. We had a great experience exploring the finest steak and accompaniments one could wish for. But, for my money, Coastal does a pretty good steak too.
