I love the food here--it's always seasoned really well. I usually go for the crab boils. I'm not a fan of the sausage they use, but the crab is always on point! It may look like a hole in the wall but don't let that stop you! The food IS bussing. I'm giving it 4 stars only because they don't provide gloves, bibs, or anything to help you stay clean while eating the boils. Other than that, the food is a 10/10. read more

Although prices and portion are decent. The service was horrible in regards to hang attention to the customer. Was visiting from California for my birthday, went they are and there was a teenager sitting at the counter on his phone. Wasn't welcoming or didn't speak, didn't even acknowledge us. Although he was sitting right in front of us at the counter. Had to get his attention from his phone to place our order. He mumbled during the transaction which made it hard to understand and he had an I don't care attitude. Then I went back and added an extra sausage. By this time we had received our food. We are the only people in there. After about 10 minutes still hadn't received the sausage. I asked him how much longer and he gets up tells the guy in the kitchen to give him some sausage and immediately hands it to me and forgot. Keep in mind this was to go and not eating there so he was so engaged in this phone he doesn't even realize we're sitting there not eating waiting. Make sure you ask for your bowl eggs don't come with the corn in the crap in the lobster tail. That's something extra service was outstanding come with a smile and they take your picture ambience. Got there late at night and place looked scary from outside for someone out of town and not familiar with the area. It didn help that the Uber driver even asked if we were sure we wanted to stay. Decided to risk it and man was it worth it. Best freaking seafood boil ever and price was crazy low. The sauce is delicious. Should have bought a bottle to go. Round of Applause for Straight Drop Seafood! This is the late night spot for great eats at an affordable price. I ordered 2 CrabFests with a kool-aid and that brought my total to $78.00. Not bad at all. I tried calling in my order but no representative answered the phone after several tries, so I just decided to go up there and place my order. The location is in the heart of North Memphis but they did have a security patrolling the place and the artwork outside and inside the building is quite breath taking. I was able to place my order quicjly and even received it in under 15 minutes. The best part was watching the owner "straight drop" my food with his butter blend. This is the next best thing. Worst experience!!! First I want to say that I've been a loyal customer here but now that I've had two bad experiences in a row I can't take it! First bad experience I chalked up to an off night. But tonight I couldn't do that. We ordered two shrimp and salmon pastas (which we have gotten before) and an order of fried catfish. The fish was ok, not bad. Then there was the pasta. First off the serving was smaller than the last time I ordered it but I know things are changing at a lot of places so ok. I wanted some of their butter sauce on the pasta so my husband went back inside to get some. They said they don't put it on top of the pasta anymore but he could buy some, so he bought two little cups. I'm so glad he did because that was the only thing that saved that pasta! When we got home I opened my container and there was no shrimp!!! I was so mad!! I went to call the number and it didn't work. It was late, I was tired and hungry and didn't feel like getting back out. So we decided to go ahead and just eat. The salmon was good but the sauce on the pasta had zero flavor. It tasted like they started to run out of sauce and decided to put water in it to stretch it out. I put the butter sauce on it to add flavor. Disappointed and mad I took a few bites and went to sleep. Couldn't believe this is what we were served. Definitely was not worth the $75 we spent. This place is honestly so good for seafood in Memphis. I got the lobster and shrimp plate and that lobster was PERFECT. So meaty and cooked so well. The shrimp was fine but still a good seafood pairing. The drop sauce they use is delicious and will have you coming back for more. Their potatoes are done differently but I wasn't mad at it. It's pretty much mashed potatoes but it soaks up all that butter. It was so affordable and delicious. Idk what more you could want! read more

I'm a big fan of seafood and been hearing good things about this place so I decided to check it out. I'm not that concerned with the outside although it did have trash in the parking lot that should have been cleaned up. When I went inside it had an odor like an old building odor is the best way to describe it. The customer service wasn't bad I wasn't really focused on that due to the bad odor. I was rethinking if I wanted to order or not because the smell just threw me off and it wasn't really clean visible stains on the walls things not in place . Not what I expected because I looked and read so many reviews. I got my order and took it home. I ordered crab legs, corn, sausage, shrimp and eggs. My eggs were overcooked like so much so that you could tell they might not be freshly boiled eggs. However the rest of the food looked good so I continued to try it. I don't think they boil the seafood in seasoned water they just dress the seafood after it's cooked. I personally prefer my boil to be cooked in seasoned water to give it more flavor. The flavor was all in the sauce they put on and not in the actual seafood. Overall it was just okay. read more
