I am glad I took my driving lessons at Stratford Driving School (with Jenny). My learners permit was about to expire and I had no idea where to begin. Being from a left driving country, I had very limited driving experience in USA. Right from scheduling for lessons to actual driving, she was very professional. Once I started taking driving lessons with Jenny, she understood my situation and gave me specific exercises that helped me to resolve by mistakes. Only an experienced instructor can anticipate patterns in one's driving based on prior driving condition. Always on time, she was very proactive in her approach. The car was clean and in good condition. Although it was not needed for the test, she took me to the freeway and helped me get more confidence with fast moving traffic. I never felt that I was taking any risk while taking lessons. Her instructions were clear and very helpful. In fact, unlike many other driving schools, she spoke English perfectly; which I think is very important. With my driving experience, I was confident that I couldn't pass the test. Thanks to Jenny, I cleared my behind the wheel test in first attempt from Santa Clara DMV! I recommend Stratford Driving School to all my friends and students at Santa Clara University. read more

I had one lesson with Jenny on April 29th and scheduled a second one for this morning at 11:30. I was a little surprised when she wasn't here at the scheduled time. I waited for about 10 minutes, figuring she may have been stuck in traffic, before texting her. She didn't immediately remember me, but as we'd only had 1 class, 2 weeks ago, this was understandable. What isn't understandable is that assuming someone is a first-time student because they scheduled the lesson online rather than by calling on the phone and that because they're a first-time student it is alright to let them think they're having a lesson when you don't plan to actually show up for it, especially when the student is sent both a confirmation of the lesson after booking it and a reminder of it the day before the lesson. This is no way to run a business. Why have an online booking system if you're going to ignore it? What's more, why would you list Saturday hours when you don't want to work on a Saturday? No one says that you have to offer Saturday classes, so just remove that from the scheduler and you won't have to deal with people booking Saturday appointments. It really is an easy fix. (When I spoke with Jenny after texting her, she suggested having classes on weekday mornings before I go to work -- she suggested a 7 AM class. Sorry, that is ridiculous. I booked a Saturday lesson for a reason.) I have emailed the company, which I suspect might just be Jenny (the phone number on the website is hers), asking for a refund of the $100 fee I paid when I booked the appointment. If I do not receive it, they will be hearing from my lawyer. I won't have a problem taking them to court over $100. read more

I had one week before my second attempt at the behind-the-wheel driving test and was very anxious about my skills. With the reviews, I decided to call Stratford Driving School, willing to spend a little more for quality lessons and that's what I got. I previously had lessons from a different school and did not get along with the teaching ways of the instructor. Jenny was an amazing and helpful teacher, who not only showed me how to pass but how to be a better driver and fix my mistakes. I felt very comfortable and I trusted her. She was able to show me what I was doing wrong and worked with me on how to improve my skills. I originally wanted to practice the actual Santa Clara routes but Jenny recommended to teach me how to actually get through what would be on the test, which worked really well. read more

I took five classes with driving instructor Jenny. She help me learn how to drive by the D.M.V rules that were in the hand book and help me to improve on my turns. I also loved the way she thought how to park a vehicle. It was great to learn driving by a female driving instructor and felt very comfortable with her teaching and loved how she spoke prefect ENGLISH while give me instructions. All in all I was able to pass my behind the wheel drive test at Santa Clara D.M.V. and liked how Jenny was familiar with the instructors since she has been teaching for a long time. I had scheduled my dmv test on the 14th sept 8 am early morning and was expecting a friend of mine to take me to the dmv in his car. He backed out at the very last moment, a day before the test and I had no clue how am I going to give the dmv test. I thought of postponing the date but there were no available dates in the coming month or two. So I called up a couple of driving schools near me hoping somebody will be open in the late hours of evenings and hopefully I'll find some instructor who can take me in his car. A few of them didnt pick up and then I found Stratford and spoke to Jenny who owns the driving school and she agreed to take me to the test. I found out that Jenny had also trained one of my close friend and helped him pass the test a year back. And my friend had recommend her for the driving classes. She picked me up at 7 in the morining and took me for an hour before the dmv test and trained me for the test, rectified my mistakes, gave me a guideline especially the do's and don'ts on the dmv test, what I liked about her was she knew all the routes for the dmv test in all the DMV test centers in the bay area. She took me on the test route right before the test and showed me all the possible mistakes and critical errors where I can go wrong at the san jose dmv test route, because san jose dmv route is not that straight forward and there are some places on the test route where you will definately make mistakes if you are going for the first time or if you dont know the route well. If not for her I would not have cleared the test. This was my 3rd time giviing the behind the wheel test and I had lost all hopes and confidence as I used to always end up making some critical mistakes. But Jenny helped me alot, told me exactly what to do for all the critical points on the san jose dmv route. What was surprising to me was Jenny knows most of the staff members and test examiners at the dmv, may be because she has been an instructor in the bay area for a very long time.When she told my test examiner that I am decent in driving, I knew that I have won half the battle and I got some hopes of passing the test this time. This is for people like me who have failed multiple times and have lost all hopes. The test examiner took me on the exact same route and I knew all the points which she is testing me for and how to avoid doing any critical errors and I came back home this with my driving license ;) Thanks Jenny was helping me fine tune my driving at the very last moment and giving me the confidence to pass the test. I have been trying to get my license for over 3-4 months now and failed several times. I would highly recommend Jenny as she is pretty good in training. read more

Jenny was very rude from the first lesson. My teenage daughter came home and told me how she was talking to her. Told her things like it isn't her job to explain what the different color light mean. Yeah, it kinda does, you're teaching her to drive. She spent the they second lesson talking about her boyfriend and asking my daughter if she thinks its ok to go out to lunch with another man since she has a boyfriend. Seriously, who does that? She also spent much of her time Googling things in her phone, not paying attention or teaching my kid. Then she had the nerve to stand on my front porch telling me my daughters characteristics like I had just met her. She's my kid, I know her pretty well, thanks. My husband and I thought well you only have 2 more hours so just get it over with and get the signed paper. Be done with her, we only had to have a driving school because its required. BIG MISTAKE! Jenny FELL ASLEEP 4 TIMES while out driving with my daughter. When my daughter told her she fell asleep she denied it, then my daughter said your head was down and your mouth was wide open. When they stopped at a light, Jenny woke up from the motion of the car breaking. My kid was scared and was trying to find a place to pull over so she could call me to come pick her up. Unfortunatly they were on a very busy street and my kid was to scared to even do that being her 4th time driving. Jenny's response was to go on and on about how she doesn't like complainers and she know exactly how to deal with them. Yeah, so do I Jenny. By reporting you to the DMV! read more

I called stratford driving school and they were able to give me up with a driving appointment with in two days to help out my little brother with the 6 hours behind the wheel certificate. Driving instructor Jenny did a great job with getting my little brother to feel confident and calm with learning how to drive and I really like how she was really took the time to tell my little brother what he needed to work on. She was able to get him ready for the D.M.V road test with we had scheduled early next week and was able to pass the behind the wheel road test and able to get the 6 hours behind the wheel certificate out of the way, since we had a bad experience with an other diving school because the other driving instructor was hard to understand. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! I personally scheduled three lessons with Jenny two days before my first lesson. So when she was late two days later, I was concerned since surely she remembered. I had cleared out my schedule for two hours that morning and was planning on going to lunch with my mother afterwards. As a result, when I saw she was late, I called her multiple times (she didn't pick up). After one hour passed, I went back into my house frustrated that she didn't contact me about her tardiness and that I had wasted so much time outside when she had told me over the phone NOT to be late. I left two voicemails and notified her that I was waiting in the house to which she never got back to me about. Eventually, when I was leaving the house for lunch with my mother, I called her one last time, hoping she would pick up. She didn't, but when she called me back a few minutes later, her first words to me were "So from 4 to 6?" I was astonished that she would act so nonchalant and not even address the fact that she had STOOD ME UP that morning. I scrambled to find my words and politely asked why she wasn't able to make it that morning. She responded curtly, saying that she had a "technical emergency" and whether I had my phone on speaker since she couldn't hear. I did, so I apologized and switched it back. Still, I felt entitled to a better explanation and asked what kind. She rudely asked me again whether I had my phone on speaker - which I didn't anymore - before saying it was just an emergency and that she didn't have a chance to contact me sooner. She repeated whether 4 to 6 worked and I, not sure how to proceed since I had lost all interest in attending this school in the future, replied that I had to talk to my father. The conversation continued for awhile with her talking to someone in the background and not focusing her full attention on me. I felt like she was exploiting the authority that came with the fact that she was older over me, and I felt very uncomfortable and mad. She then said that she needed to know soon since the slot would be filled. This comment infuriated me since she obviously had no respect for my time and expected me to have respect for hers. I politely responded with an okay and she told me to email her with my decision. She ended up never apologizing for missing our appointment. In approximately 2 hours, I emailed her, telling her that I would not be able to make it to the lesson and that we would need to discuss my future appointments later. The next day, my father had some time to speak to Jenny and discuss a refund. At first, she did not pick up and he left her a voicemail explaining that he was my father. Within a few minutes, she called back (presumably because she knew she could not take advantage of a fellow adult) and when my father told her about my experience and that we wanted a refund, she began to pile all of the blame on me, all the while not knowing I was listening. (ex: she said that I only told her I could not make it by email when I should have called instead. Even though she explicitly told me to email her with my response) She then agreed that I should not attend the Stratford Driving School! My experience here was an absolute terrible one, but I have learned a valuable lesson. There are people in this world who, no matter how old they get, never mature. read more

Using Stratford driving school , it really helped me learn the techniques and little things that every new driver should know. Jenny was very helpful and taught be everything I needed to know. Although I did sign up on the website incorrectly, I eventually got all my lessons done, no big deal. Just make sure to carefully sign up on the website correctly. Okay...This was the most awkward illiterate messed up phone call that I have ever done in the last 15 years. Yeah, it's that bad. (01/02/2017 ... 03:47PM) First of all, it was an illiterate rant, like talking to a teenager who failed school. A total rant, and I quote "I don't like wasting my time if you know what I mean like most student like change their appointment like and they like are not ready and I am like don't wanna deal with sexual harrasment and stuff and like you know my time is valuable and like I have to go like my time is valuable if you know what I mean". Upon initiating registration with Stratford Driving School, I was pleased to see that online registration was seamless and efficient. Jenny--my instructor--was sociable and friendly, yet simultaneously professional and clearly well-versed in instructing. She arrived on time to all three lessons and offered versatility: At the time, I could be picked up from either my house or my school (or anywhere else, I imagine, as long as it was registered). After three sessions, I feel much more confident in my ability not only to drive, but to pass the DMV driving test. I am a very new driving student and after trying to pass the DMV behind the wheel test myself I went for help after realizing that wasn't enough. Doesn't show up for my third class (as we did my first and second classes on the same day), and texted me as her mom saying that she had an "emergency" and had to go to the emergency room to be seen by the doctors. I completely understood, and rescheduled to another date. The next time I saw her, I asked how she was doing and if she was doing better, and she literally didn't have any clue of what I was talking about. Also, during her driving lessons, she constantly kept on talking about her boyfriend and all the relationship issues they had. I clearly didn't pay her to become a relationship therapist. My driving didn't get any better from learning from her and she gets really immature and starts screaming about her problems. I've never asked her about her life, and I don't intend to know about it either, especially when I'm paying this lady to teach me how to drive. She also names her contact really immaturely, such as "girl who's parents fucked about the schedule." I felt uncomfortable driving with her. read more

Jenny is the only instructor here and I did not enjoy my time with her. She talked **** about other students during our lessons, which made me wonder what she was saying behind my back. There were many times where she would stop the car on the road and talk on the phone for 10 minutes at a time and just hand me old tests to look at. She also had a hard time remembering when to have lessons and was usually 15 minutes late. It's also very hard to reschedule appointments with her as she is the only one that works at the company. Pretty sure most of these 5 star reviews are because she asks the students when they are finished with their 3 lessons to write a review on not only yelp but Facebook and google too while they are still in the car. It is not possible to write an accurate review when the person you are writing for is breathing down your neck. When i told her politely that I did not want to post on Facebook, she asked me why not which stunned me. Overall I would recommend researching into a different driving instructor, I hear Blue Ribbon has a kind instructor. read more

Jenny was very unprofessional both over the phone and in person. Extremely inappropriate with me (the student) and my father. I had to find another driving school. While driving she would talk to me about disturbing personal things, distracting me and almost causing an accident. She was very impatient and rude to me and my father. We asked to have another driving instructor since the site advertises multiple instructors, but sadly she was the only one. She hung up on us and we never heard back. Possibly the worst class I've ever seen. They have a broken registration system, and take funds without giving you a refund even if you've registered and booked a class, yet don't get a confirmation email from them. Their reception folk are immensely rude and argued about the refund. I got it because I left this review and spoke to 3 different receptionists who all seemed clueless about what was going on. Going by the reviews, it seems like a few other people have had problems before, experienced rude behavior and also did not get their refund, so beware. It's hard to understand why their booking system will take a payment but not register your class despite your booking it - and customer service addresses this by presuming that you are sending them funds for for no reason! This isn't a charity! Customers send funds because they booked a class which took them to the payment section. If the payment section or booking section is faulty, please address that instead of belittling your customers. There are far better options in the Bay Area for driving classes, that don't cheat you out of your money or lecture you on whether they think Paypal is a good service or not. Customer service here unbelievably abysmal - there is no excuse for talking rudely to a customer or calling them stupid, ever! There are tons of great driving schools around, I would recommend all the others. Book a class here at your own risk or if you want to be talked to very, very rudely. read more

Not a good experience. Jenny was late to the first lesson and cut it short. She was not very communicative and didn't really give me any feedback or information about how the lesson had gone with my teenage son, even though it was his very first time driving. She had also not done any preparation, did not look up our address to see that we are on a busy street and have a steep driveway, and did not have a route planned. She seemed unfamiliar with the neighborhood and was annoyed about the location of our house which "didn't work" for something she wanted to teach. For the second lesson, she called just a few minutes before she was scheduled to arrive and said her car was in the shop. She wanted to reschedule, even though we explained several times that our son was leaving for camp in another state for most of the summer, and had another driving instructor scheduled for when he got back. There was also some weirdness with the receptionist/scheduling person. I called after the first lesson and asked if we could change instructors, and instead of just explaining that Jenny is the business owner and the only instructor, she was very sympathetic and gave me the impression that she would send someone else for the second lesson. I requested a refund and never received it. I don't recommend using this business. read more
