Just one of the many people who had a kid who signed up and ended up with a $5 a month recurring charge for over a year...

Yet another victim here. I gave my son the credit card to sign up for the drivers ed course a year and half ago and lo and behold I have been charged $5 a month since then. After reading multiple complaints below, apparently they offer a discounted rate if you sign up for their "roadside assistance plan". I would like the "business owner " to explain what roadside services $5 a month buys. Probably you call them, and they call the towing company and then you pay the towing company full boat. So deceptive and wrong. Who the heck would sign up for roadside assistance from an online education course!!!??? read more

My son took the online permit course and we are STILL waiting for his certificate so he can go to the DMV and get his permit. It's bee over 2 months of them saying they are mailing it. We have not received it. We've made 3 requests and each time we have waited 2 weeks as they suggest. NO CERTIFICATE! We paid $60. I never leave reviews for things but this is ridiculous. Stay away!!! You've been warned. Customer service is terrible. While I can't confirm, I believe their customer service is in another country. (Philippines???) They are happy to take your $$ but if anything doesn't go right they will not support or assist. In fact there staff can't tell you your certificate #, only an internal tracking number and claim they have no way to access or confirm a completion of the course is done. However you can pay expedited fees and get your certificate sent via FedEx. Super disappointed, and would not advise others to use them. Only reason they are high on the list is because of search engine optimization. :( read more

Beware when you buy classes. They make it so it's very easy to unwittingly subscribe for a drivers ed 'roadside assistance' that keeps on charging you $5 ad infinitum. read more

This is just for the customer service that I finally received after the first very negative encounter. A solid 3 starts only for delayed customer service - I finally I got another supervisor who was just perfect on handling my complaint and I was able to get a partial refund....she was about 10 levels above the first person I was matched with. Turns out that the money back guarantee is within 30 days...I found this nowhere on the site and I did look hard - but the supervisor I spoke with last did share this with me...so heads up if you try this service and are want a refund.... I can't speak for the other instructors, but my daughters instructor fell asleep while she was driving during her second lesson!!!! I'm seeking legal counsel because if you put my, or any child, in danger, you're going to have consequences. Do not use this company. Period. read more

He was very patient and taught me all the roadway necessities. Signed up for the package with 10 hours of lessons. Extremely difficult to schedule so had to cancel. No online scheduling, including via email. When I called most times were completely booked out in a month+ in advance. But they only open the schedule a month in advance!!! Finally booked a month out on a Monday night when it will already be dark. Not ideal to start learning at night. Very disappointed and trying to find a better company to use. read more

Do not use this Driver's Ed for the written test! Their customer service does not answer. We have been trying to reach them for days. I have been on hold now for 45 minutes after calling them twice today for another 45 minutes each. I have also left them a message on their phone message machine with my phone number and have not received a call back. I have emailed them letting them know I need to speak to them urgently yet they refuse to answer. I would seriously reconsider using this service. I am so glad I found Drivers Ed and got Long as my instructor! I started off being actually terrorized at the idea of driving but Long really helped me surpass my fear! He is understanding but also pushes me when I need the push! I now feel a lot more confident and am actually excited to have my next lessons with him! read more

Do yourself a favor: if you're hard up for a moving violation, cross that double yellow in San Mateo county. Or push 90 in Solano. Just don't do it in within the County of Santa Clara where driversed.com has a monopoly on being the only approved online traffic school. Your Improv Comedy courses and speed reading skills are no good here. Don't count on snoring through class or switching browser windows to catch up on the NYT--the countdown ticker freezes. This course is designed to challenge even the most experienced of multitaskers. Driversed.com requires your undivided attention and a fresh wrist to to make a few thousand inane clicks. Carpel tunnelers beware. Also expect to gain 5 lbs from shoveling ice cream in your face between sections waiting, waiting, waiting for modules to buffer and to lose 3 IQ points watching the same damn blue mini cooper backing off a truck bed 100 times to introduce "your [insert Indian male, Caucasian male, Caucasian female nickname] driver." Mini coopers are cute--but not that cute. This is some sick modern version of Chinese water torture. You'll be forced to stare at each slide (or the clock in the bottom right corner before you're permitted to advance) for a predetermined interval, so you might as well take it seriously and learn something. Horrible communication! Come up with extra fees every time you turn around! Do not use this for parent taught! They have delayed my daughter getting her permit because they didn't send certificate. I used this place with my oldest and since he took the course prices went up and they added stuff that they don't tell you about. Then they don't send the certificate of completion until you call and throw a fit. My daughter will now be late getting her drivers license and had to cancel appt. they blame it all on you when you call. Use someone else! read more

Your course is very informative and kept me alert throughout the entire studies. The 17 minute video of the drunk driver and the death of the young victim has had a serious impact on me. It has served it's purpose. I completed the course within 3 days/6 hours. Glad to be done with it. The course is very informative and I choose to focuse on the benefits of this course: The knowledge of the traffic laws and a refresher of my awareness of the traffic laws and defensive driving as well as the information of the maintenance schedule for my vehicle. We had a fantastic experience with DriverEd.com. My daughter had several lessons with Sharon and we couldn't have been happier with how great she was to work with. She came to the door before and after the lessons to find out what we were experiencing teaching our daughter to drive and then explained what to work on with her between lessons. She took her DMV test yesterday and passed on the first try thanks to all of us working together. Do not ever use this company. Since the shut down, they are missing in action and we cannot get our money back or get our son's final lessons to get his license. Sharon is a great instructor, super patient and friendly while still able to help you work on areas you might be lacking in. Driving is fairly nerve wracking to me, but she was able to prepare me for not only the test, but basically everything I was feeling nervous about. She also makes a point to open up conversations with her students and get to know them personally, which was much appreciated. The people I spoke to on the phone were also very helpful. We have used DriversEd.com for not only my daughter's online drivers education class but also for the behind the wheel training. The scheduling is very flexible, the staff courteous and helpful. The instructors are prompt and dressed in official DriversEd polo shirts. Instructor Dan was great, super calm, and very professional. I have used other services for this with my older children (Stanford Driving School- ugh!) and this is a huge improvement over that service. read more

Although this review is extremely late, DriversEd was awesome throughout my entire training process. The site was easy to use and inexpensive. The in car lessons were great-- all the instructors were friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I also love that you drive MINIs around-- they handle well and are cool cars! My favorite instructor was David M. He prepared me extremely well for my DMW Drive Test the week before-- which has led to my continued driving success over the years! Long was a great teacher -- aside from the physical mechanics of driving, he also taught me a lot about being proactive in driving safely rather than reactive. Before signing up for driving lessons, I checked out Yelp reviews. The consensus was that the instructor, Long T, was highly recommended so I called DriversEd.com and requested Long as my driving instructor and ensured he had availability in the coming weeks. A bonus of calling was that I found out about a discounted special that was being offered that wasn't mentioned on the website. I took three lessons with Long to refresh my driving skills after a long-term driving hiatus. We focused on the skills I requested and he really helped me feel comfortable behind the wheel again. Don't use. The customer service is terrible. The instructor that my son had basically kept telling him he should not be driving on his permit. Even though my son only had a driver ed.com permit and it was his 3rd hour of driving. I was told by my son that all the instructor did was brake, grab his wheel and tell him that he was doing it wrong. I tried to pass the driving test six times but every time I fail until I took a lesson with Long Troung. Seriously, he is the best! He is so calm, chilled, and easy to work with. When you are out for a lesson with him, you will feel that you are with your friend. He is also so into details and will let you learn the proper way of driving and will give you tips to pass the test. Moreover, he is flexible with time and will try his best to make a time for you. Both Catherine and Long were good instructors. Long gave me a lot of tips. I liked the exercise where he told me he would identify a few key things every time he approaches an intersection like "how many lanes going left, straight, right?", How many pedestrians?", "Unprotected or protected left?". I use this technique all the time now. There are so many more tips he has. Go book a lesson with him. The admin, Mai was very accommodating with my request since I needed a 2 hour lesson and DMV road test package on such short notice. Really appreciated this. I wasn't really into the Mini Coopers at first but after driving them, I fell in love immediately. The car handles really well. I would get one if I could. Parents and Customers beware!!! Driversed.com is quick to take your money, but they have no accountability and even worse customer service. My son did their online program for the drivers permit. After completion (Thursday)they had a next business day print (Friday)and the a number of different certificate delivery options. We chose next business day delivery (Monday)for 20+ bucks. Monday arrives and no certificate. Look online and no tracking number. So we call and customer service looks into it and the printing of the cert was overlooked. It was 4:30, but instead of any activity on their part, the service rep says they will print it tomorrow (Tuesday) and send it for delivery Wednesday. They did not provide an apology, or any restitution for their error. When I asked if they were going to do anything to make it right, the rep told me that I could cancel the next day delivery and driversEd.com would send it out in 7-10 day delivery. In other words, they threatened to hold the certificate ransom. The discussion was over and I was told that if I had a problem I should take it up with the DMV. read more

The worst driving lesson experience ever. I took in-car lessons with two instructors. One of them told me to disobey the traffic law by going above the speed limit. When I refused, he said my driving was dangerous because I was not going with the flow. He even cut my 2-hr lesson by 30 min. Another instructor would not stop yapping and stressed me out, even though I politely told her to stop talking because I couldn't concentrate. I was getting stressed out and she called me feisty. I told her I wanted to practice parking but instead took me on a freeway and I had no time to practice parking nor anything else that's tested in the DMV road test such as reverse driving. The whole time she said freeway was not tested, and yet we spent 1.5 hours on freeway. Do not take any lessons from this company - it's a complete scam. read more

I had a terrible expirience with DriversEd, statring with the customer service which was horrible and finishing the the teachers themselves. The important part in a driving school are the teachers and in this case, I encountered a very unpleasant and impatient teacher. The customer service was not very helpful as well, giving me hard time to schedule lessons. I deeply regret using their services and giving them my money.
