I order dinner and they were out of the hanger steak. My boyfriend ordered and they were out of the paella. I ended up getting the chicken cutlet board. The chicken was very dry, it was like a fish fry batter, not what I think of when I hear "cutlet". Over cooked, salty. My boyfriend got the salmon. I tasted it at the end of the meal, I couldn't even believe he tried to eat it. It was very overcooked and so fishy. Also it said that his potatoes were Lyonnaise potatoes, Definitely not, they were thickly sliced, lacked seasoning, just a miss. Drink service was very slow, forgot a drink too. The waiter mentioned they're in between menus; i'm hoping my feedback can be helpful to the restaurant. Also it is my pet peeve when servers don't tell you upon seating you that they are out of an item. Being they were out of both of the entrées we wanted we may have chose to leave and come back another day and possibly have a more positive experience.

My daughter and I ordered the Hot Honey Wings for an appetizer, and my daughter had a Cheeseburger with French Fries, and I ordered the Meat Lovers Paella. I ordered the paella because I have always wanted to try it, but I don't eat seafood, so I'm glad they had a meat paella. If you're ordering the Pallea, it will take about thirty to thirty minutes, so I would order an appetizer. The wings came out, and they were good, and the sauce was good. My only problem is that many restaurants that make wings seem to miss the seasoning, and the wings were missing flavor. It was fried well, but it was missing flavor. I loved the Meat Lovers Paella, which was packed with flavor. The paella came out in a cast-iron pan, and the meats were cooked well. The steak was moist, full of flavor, and cooked well. The rice was full of flavor and delicious. The Paella had a rich flavor profile, with the prominent tastes of saffron and smoky paprika coming together to create a satisfying and aromatic experience. I would definitely be back for the Paella because the presentation was on point. The customer service was great as the waiter was friendly, outgoing, and very knowledgeable about the menu.

As part of our never-ending quest to conquer the Connecticut Wing Trail, my sons and I finally made…read morethe 90-minute drive to the Dew Drop Inn yesterday. I'm genuinely glad we did. From the moment we walked in, this place just felt special. Old town charm, packed with personality, friendly people everywhere, and the kind of atmosphere that immediately makes you understand why generations of people love it here. What really stood out to me, though, was the staff. Not just Amanda, our server, who was fantastic, but the entire team. Everyone was attentive, fast on their feet, and constantly moving, yet nobody made you feel rushed. They somehow balanced efficiency with genuine hospitality. People checked in naturally, joked around, connected with customers, and kept the place humming without missing a beat. In a packed, high-volume wing institution like this, that is impressive. The staff added to the experience as much as the food did. The wing flavors absolutely live up to the legend status. Creative, memorable, and fun. I'd proudly bring any friend here who has always wanted to experience the Dew Drop for themselves. The standout for us was the Loaded Nacho Wings. Genius. A full nacho setup smothering wings in the same pan? Ridiculously good. The pico and guacamole were both fresh and outstanding, too. Now, to be fair and honest, I probably would not drive 90 minutes solely for the wings themselves. They leaned smaller and more on the well-done, pre-baked, drier side. I mean absolutely no disrespect by that because a place moving this kind of volume has to keep food flying out of the kitchen quickly. The overall experience actually reminded me a lot of the Ordinary Joe's locations in Watertown and Torrington: great energy, great crowd, and a place that feels bigger than just the food itself. I know this may be heartbreaking to the true Dew Drop die-hards, but for our personal rankings, the experience still did not quite unseat J. Timothy's in Plainville or the Groggy Frog in Southington. My only real disappointment was the blue cheese. I was honestly shocked that a place this legendary and creative would have blue cheese dressing that felt so average. As someone who considers blue cheese an essential part of the wing experience, I actually stopped using it because it took away from the flavors instead of enhancing them. That said, I will absolutely be back. Places like this are more than just restaurants. They become experiences, traditions, and destinations. The Dew Drop absolutely earned that reputation. Ps. If I were leading their marketing and social media - I would be announcing to the world how unique their loaded nacho wing is. T shirt, everything. If you don't ask - you'd never know. I'd make that our "thing".
