The middle school/high school kids that come to your place and just put their bikes and scooters in front of the main entrance and they are just vulgar language. I used to like taking my kids there and getting a little treat, but I just can't condone any of that behavior and The people behind the counter. Say they'll take care of it but it just seems to be an ongoing problem with disrespectful, middle schoolers or highschoolers that have no regard for anybody else. Absolute worst experience EVER. Saturday afternoon, I had mentioned to my daughter that I had never even been inside The Straw Market, so she suggested that we stop there for lunch. Once inside, we saw a sign that stated 'Lunch Special - chili, breadstick, drink, and a bakery item - $6'. We both decided to order the lunch special. That's where the crazy started. The kid at the counter didn't know how to ring in the special. The other kid came out from the kitchen to show him how and questioned what we meant by the $6 lunch special. We showed him the sign. He rung it in and went back to the kitchen. We paid for our meal and within minutes we were told they were out of chili, but they could give us potato soup instead. We agreed to that. We sat for 10-15 minutes but what we could hear them struggling to figure out what bowls to put the soup in. The kid at the register called the owner to ask what bowls to use and was told that the potato soup was for an order that night. We were made aware that they had no soup for us and asked what else we would want. We told them we wanted a refund. After getting our money, we took the bakery items we selected when we paid for our order and our sodas (the Dr. Pepper was out of order) and headed for home. When I unwrapped what we thought was a red velvet cookie (the kid at the counter had no idea what it was and nothing in the bakery display was labeled), I noticed the discoloration on the chocolate chips. I'm thinking this is what happens to chocolate when it gets old. That aside, we ate the cookie and the brownie because that's all we got for our lunch. While eating the cookie, I noticed something in my mouth that was crunchy. WHAT?!? I dug it out of my mouth to find that it was egg shell!!! Never again will I go to The Straw Market. My college-aged son told me, "Mom, don't ever buy anything that they make at The Straw Market, we only ever bought the pre-packaged stuff when we would go there back in high school." I've been going to Straw Market for years for cinnamon rolls. Yep, just the cinnamon rolls, they are that good. Lately the service has been terrible, well there hasn't been any service at all the last few times I've been in. No greeting when you walk in, no happy, vibrant people to help. Just rude workers that act completely "put out" that you're even ordering. My last visit, after waiting quite a while in line (literally, one person ahead of me), I ordered 4 cinnamon rolls in a tin. Instead, after 15 minutes, I received four, smashed, messy rolls individually wrapped in wax paper. This was not what I ordered, nor the presentation I was promised. Needless to say, I never gave these to my co-workers. When I inquired about the order I was given and the actual order I placed, the girl at the counter rolled her eyes and said, "we don't do that, you can have a bag or take them like that." Although I have ordered them in the past AND it is listed on their menu. If I acted like this young lady, I would be looking for another job! It's time to stop being so unkind to others! Although my small contribution to your establishment will probably go unnoticed, I'll be taking my money somewhere else. read more

If you are craving an unwelcome experience, take your little self down to the Straw Market. Customer service is always awful at this place, but our experience today was exceptionally worse. The employees move along slowly to spite the fact of them being there. A single order of fries took about 20 minutes to come out, and the cook shouted at us to come and grab them from the kitchen! When Diane makes herself comfortable at a food place, you best know she makes herself comfortable. Never had I had to retrieve my food myself like a pilgrim. Not impressed. I also had to choose between affording my retirement or the newly increased prices of their cinnamon rolls. I probably never again will return, but will rather drag my 60-year old flabs to the nearest Maverik instead. read more

My bf loved the loaded breakfast, and French toast. My hash-browns and fried eggs were not great. We ordered to go, so maybe mine would have been better fresh. Will try again just because of location and wanting to support our local community. Hopefully eating in will be better. read more

Dirty, inconsistent, rude. How was it dirty utensils are dirty the serving utensils they used to serve the food are disgusting the tables are sticky you look in the kitchen things haven't been cleaned for months if not after the countertops are dirty there's a layer of dust on everything. Inconsistent you get a cinnamon roll one will have hardly any cream cheese one will have a ton When sizing portions one brownie will be huge one will be small they charge you the same price. You asked for a container to go they charge you $.50 they are so rude! They could care less if they have your business or not. There's an awkward silence why they make the food when you go to pay. Workers are awkward rude and don't seem to be very sanitary. read more

I have been coming here for years and it keeps getting more expensive. When I first here I remember just coming here because it was cheaper food. Now they keep moving the prices up and up. A couple years ago their cinnamon rolls were a dollar and were massive. Now I haven't bought one in years because they are tiny. The full breakfast was very disappointing. The reheated hashbrowns and reheated bacon were luke warm at best with cold spots and plenty of grease. The eggs were the only thing freshly cooked but still greasy. When I told the girl about the cold bacon she immediately offered to bring me warm bacon, she did and although it was warmer it still had cold spots. The employees were friendly. I loved this place. I ordered cinnamon rolls to go for a dinner party gift. While they came in a cardboard box, they received rave reviews by the kids and adults. This place has The Best Cinnamon Rolls in All of Utah! It's a convenience store, but really it's more of a Cafe. They have lots of sandwiches and soups. I really like their grilled peanut butter and jelly!!! Prices are good, and you can get in and out very quickly. read more

This is a great place to stop by and get a snack or a cinnamon roll. It is very affordable and for what you pay for you get more. The only down side is the service, the owner is very grumpy and rude. He almost makes you feel like your in the wrong for buying there. He is also even more rude to kids. When my son went in they charged him with a 30% tax. So basically it is very good to stop by. Absolutely terrible customer service. The employees aren't very nice, they're ill perceptive, it's unclean and the service is not only slow, it's confusing. The counter is pinned behind seating in a way that makes forming a line awkward and particularly uncomfortable for those seated closest to the counter. While standing at the counter waiting to order for several minutes I watched as the employees walked past several times without greeting me or assuring me that someone would be with me in a moment (basic customer service). The employees appear to have no awareness (or more likely no care) for when the tables need to be bussed so that those who are obviously standing and waiting to get a clean seat can do so. Delicious cinnamon rolls. They are fresh and have an amazing cream cheese frosting. It is whipped and fluffy, not that glaze crap. The actual cinnamon roll is very fluffy, but chewy and dense all in one. It's not overly rich and you don't leave feeling like a pig, unless you eat two or three of them like me. You can tell that the chef knows what he is doing. He uses high quality fresh ingredients. The breakfast is also amazing for the price. It's way better than denny's, but cheaper. The hash browns are freshly shredded and have a nice crisp brown buttery edge, the bacon is nice and thick, and he loads the toast. It's one of the best breakfast i have had in a long time and i will be going back, definitely! One thing is you need to do is salt your food...it didn't have enough salt for my liking. The outside appearance isn't eye-catching, but go in and try the food and you will be back, it's one of those hidden treasures people don't know about....yet. read more
