Eggs shells that were in the cookie.

Absolute worst experience EVER. Saturday afternoon, I had mentioned to my daughter that I had never even been inside The Straw Market, so she suggested that we stop there for lunch. Once inside, we saw a sign that stated 'Lunch Special - chili, breadstick, drink, and a bakery item - $6'. We both decided to order the lunch special. That's where the crazy started. The kid at the counter didn't know how to ring in the special. The other kid came out from the kitchen to show him how and questioned what we meant by the $6 lunch special. We showed him the sign. He rung it in and went back to the kitchen. We paid for our meal and within minutes we were told they were out of chili, but they could give us potato soup instead. We agreed to that. We sat for 10-15 minutes but what we could hear them struggling to figure out what bowls to put the soup in. The kid at the register called the owner to ask what bowls to use and was told that the potato soup was for an order that night. We were made aware that they had no soup for us and asked what else we would want. We told them we wanted a refund. After getting our money, we took the bakery items we selected when we paid for our order and our sodas (the Dr. Pepper was out of order) and headed for home. When I unwrapped what we thought was a red velvet cookie (the kid at the counter had no idea what it was and nothing in the bakery display was labeled), I noticed the discoloration on the chocolate chips. I'm thinking this is what happens to chocolate when it gets old. That aside, we ate the cookie and the brownie because that's all we got for our lunch. While eating the cookie, I noticed something in my mouth that was crunchy. WHAT?!? I dug it out of my mouth to find that it was egg shell!!! Never again will I go to The Straw Market. My college-aged son told me, "Mom, don't ever buy anything that they make at The Straw Market, we only ever bought the pre-packaged stuff when we would go there back in high school." Lesson learned!

    Poached eggs?? Close ish.

Adorable little place off the beaten path. Local gifts for sale. You must try their cinnamon rolls. They also serve breakfast and lunch.

Great little hidden coffee shop!…read more This is the closest coffee shop to my house and we make it a point to ride bikes there for breakfast several times each summer. Brewed coffee and lattes always good and they have plenty of flavor choices (although sometimes they don't have skim milk). They also have affordable, quick breakfast options that always come hot and tasty. These consist of burritos, sandwiches, bagels, pastries and some others. Sandwiches can be thrown on a bagel, which I enjoy, and my wife especially likes the brisket breakfast burritos they serve seasonally. With it being in a somewhat rural area and on the gold course it's usually not to busy and can get good fast. Thankful to have this place close to home!

I struggled with a review for this Utah based coffee shop. So I waited and had 2 meals before…read morewriting. First meal was lunch - Buffalo Melt with a side of pasta salad. The Buffalo Melt was on panini bread, the chicken chopped up to make it easy to cook, with blue cheese dressing. Big portion: in the pic I posted, it looks like one sandwich but that's half; it's stacked one half on top of the other. This was a MESSY sandwich, the chopped chicken, blue cheese dressing and hot sauce all contributing, and sadly the red onions that were supposed to be on it were absent. The first half of the sandwich, while it was hot, was tasty, but again, dressing everywhere. By the time I got to the second half it had cooled, so it was soggy and honestly not that appealing. Moral of the story: eat it hot and fast. And have lots of napkins. $6.50 (I'd like to see a half order for this sandwich, because that's all I really needed.) The pasta salad had a lot of dry seasonings in it and not much liquid dressing. I'd prefer the reverse, though I ate the whole thing. Second meal (8:30A) was the breakfast quiche served with salsa, and a vanilla latte with an extra shot of espresso. The 16 oz latte was very, very good. $5.25 The quiche was tasty, though the description didn't do it justice because there was meat in it - bacon and ham, I believe. (Note: If I had ordered this on a Friday during Lent, I would have had to throw it out.) This was the largest quiche I have ever eaten. It definitely needed the salsa, but it was filling and I couldn't bring myself to stop, so I was full until around 3P. $3.50 The walk up window is a great solution during a pandemic, but even better was their app, which I used for both orders: Joe Coffee. It allows you to order and pay in advance, and is current with what is sold out or unavailable. Easy to use and suggested by the first gentleman server when I called to inquire on their menu. It tells you when your order is ready, so no waiting outside 6' apart, sit in your car. Stores your orders for quick reordering. Staff is very friendly and orders were made quickly. Given the price and portion sizes, I plan on returning to see if there's something amazing I missed, so I can bring this review up to a 4 or 5 star. :)
