Sooooooooooo gooooooooood! The menu is a little different from the food truck, but just as delicious.

    Hot Chicken Loaded Fries

Everything I have tried at this place is delicious! My favorite is the hot chicken loaded fries. The hot chicken has the perfect amount of spice and the chipotle crema made it the most delicious bite! The staff is amazing. I felt right at home and you can tell how much they care about their customers.

Don't try to go right now. Give it a few months…read more 3 FAILED ATTEMPTS. 9 months pregnant and tried 3 different times to dine, each time with no honest transparency with wait times. I really wanted to keep loving Bien Mérité, but after three attempts, I'm extremely frustrated. Each visit has involved inaccurate and constantly changing wait times. My first attempt on 4/10 around 2pm in the afternoon. It was just me and my 15month old baby, there was only 2-3 tables occupied and I was told 45 minute wait with an almost empty dining room. I asked the hostess due to me being 9 months pregnant and having a toddler if I could just at least sit down while waiting the additional 45 mins and was told no. So I totted out my baby and myself, bought pastries and left. The second attempt I was quoted an hour , waiting the full hour and checked back in with the hostess stand only to be told it was going to be an additional hour, on top of what we already waited again. Third attempt (Sunday, April 26) waited a full hour, checked in once again with the hostess and was told it is now going to be another 90 minutes on top of once again the hour we already waited. I understand waits happen, but this level of inconsistency feels disorganized and disrespectful of customers' time--especially when expectations are set incorrectly from the start. I'm just asking for transparency and honesty here. It's disappointing because the space is beautiful and I've always supported this business but the waitlist management and homestead stand seriously needs improvement on honesty and management of times.

When the hostess saw us from the kitchen she immediately came out and told us to pick a table. We ordered and then I decided I wanted wine with my meal and asked for a glass of Chianti because, well, it's an Italian restaurant. The do not have any Italian wine so I got the glass of cab. My dad and husband ordered the minestrone soup and really enjoyed it. My husband and I shared 2 sandwiches: the spicy Italian sausage and meatball sandwiches. There was no spice in the spicy sausage so we added a lot of black pepper. The meatballs were small and a little dry but tasty. The power went out just before we got our meal so we weren't sure what was going to happen. The staff was apologetic and trying to figure out what was going on. We got our food and it was hot and fresh. We were told that we would need to pay in cash which I rarely have on hand so I'm not sure what would have happened if I said that we didn't have any. We ate in the dark and were offered no compensation. The wine list is atypical of an Italian restaurant and having to eat by only the light of the front door being open without any kind of compensation isn't the service one would expect. I hope they got power back.

But the surprise that really made our visit special was the advice and interaction of the sommelier, Cisco! As a wine educator, I rarely encounter restaurant wine stewards who have extensive knowledge AND spend the time with the table to ensure the right pairings are chosen. Cisco nailed it! Finally, the service was perfect - our waitress was professional, very friendly and was always there when needed yet was never obtrusive. Fork & Vines is a real gem and we will be back every time we visit Corpus Christi.

We got the calamari and fried mozarella caprese from the happy hour menu. I didn't get to try the fried moz caprese, but the calamari was good. It was just slightly overcooked but otherwise had good flavor and the aioli was a good pairing. My fettuccine was a little bland but the shrimp was heavily seasoned and added to the dish. The short rib ravioli was tender and flavorful. Our server was knowledgable and helpful! He was super nice and provided great service.

Water Street Oyster Bar is one of those places where the story is as much about what it used to be…read moreas what it is today. Growing up and into my twenties, this felt like one of the nicer restaurants in Corpus Christi. It had a more upscale atmosphere than most places around town, and the menu was extensive. It didn't matter what you ordered because it was all good. Some of my favorite memories are sitting at the oyster bar with my parents whenever friends or family came to town, eating freshly shucked oysters while everyone else enjoyed colorful cocktails. Those days feel like they're gone. The menu has been reduced to a single page and now looks a lot like what you'll find at just about any seafood restaurant along the Gulf Coast. The biggest issue isn't the quality. The food is still consistent, and the service has remained reliable. It just doesn't feel unique anymore. The sense that this was a special destination has faded, and that's the part I miss most. That said, the location is still great, the restaurant is always clean, and the bartenders continue to be one of its biggest strengths. They've always been knowledgeable, make excellent drinks, and add a lot to the experience. I genuinely hope this place finds some of the character that made it special years ago. I'll always have a soft spot for it because of the memories, and I'd love to see it become a destination again instead of just another seafood restaurant.

Since it was our first time dining at Republic of Texas, we were unsure of the checkout process. Our server mentioned that we could charge the bill to our room, but we wanted to leave him a generous cash tip. Unfortunately, he walked by our table several times without acknowledging us, and we waited over 20 minutes before I finally had to get up and practically head toward the kitchen to give him our payment and tip. We still left a 20% tip because we understand how busy Saturday nights can be, but when guests are sitting there with to-go bags, it only takes a few seconds to check on them and see what they need. That was our only disappointment, and although it was frustrating, I would not take any stars away because of it. We ordered the Bison Steak, Ribeye, baked potato, au gratin potatoes, quail knots, scallop appetizer, crème brûlée, bread pudding, and bread. Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious. I ordered a white russian and my husband ordered one of their signature drinks, both were tasty. Our bill was $312 for 2 cocktails, 2 appetizers, 2 steaks, 2 sides, 2 desserts. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely return if we are ever back in the area.
