I finally found a Mexican restaurant I like! There is a drive thru or you can park and come up to the window. When it is not hot out, there are some benches to sit outside and eat. Location is at the corner of McArdle and Nile. I think this place has been around for a long time. Building looks older but the food is yummy! Salsa is pretty good and they have one that is spicy. I have ordered a carne asada burrito, al pastor torta, and the loaded nachos. All are delicious and portions are appropriate. My go to spot for Mexican in Corpus Christi! read more

This was our goto breakfast spot since 2009. Moved away and recently came back on a visit now with 2 kids and I must say it did not disappoint! Every time I go here, the service is phenomenal. The staff is friendly and the food comes out so fast! I usually get the soft tacos and switch out some of the toppings like adding cilantro and onions and they never up-charge or make a fuss about changing things up. I stopped by here a while back during a trip down to Corpus. I'm not sure what the hype is about to be quite honest. The tortillas I was served with my breakfast tacos we're not homemade but rather store bought. I can't rate them any higher due to this fact. We live across the street from this restaurant, and we order breakfast from here almost daily! We order lunch on some days as well. They are so reasonably priced and the portion sizes are perfect. My fiancé loves the carne asada and my children LOVE their enchiladas and quesadillas! If you're a fan of migas, I highly recommend giving theirs a try! One of my favorite things about Taqueria Chapala is how they have barbacoa available 7 days a week and you'll receive consistently juicy, delicious barbacoa that isn't super fatty, no matter what day of the week you order it. For lunch, my favorite plate would have to be either their taco salad or quesadilla plate! Their carne guisada is a must-try. THEY HAVE FRESH SALSA EVERY DAY. Both red and green are yummy but the red sauce is my ABSOLUTE favorite sauce. I legitimately wish that I could bottle it and keep it in my kitchen. I would put it on everything! But perhaps the best thing about this place is the people who work there. They are a family-owned business, and many of the employees are a part of that family. They take good care of each other, and you can just feel the love in the way they take care of their guests. They don't treat us like customers, they treat us like family. Before the taco stand was closed to damage from a car that bashed in a wall, I could get four breakfast tacos (same as ordered today) for just under $8. Today, same tacos were $9. I guess they're trying to make up for the losses while making repair. Just for a mater of reference, I can get the same order, prepared at LEAST equally well for under $7 at a stand that's just a few blocks away. Are these tacos worth $2 more? Not in my opinion. I'm glad they're back in business, but the price increase on top of their already higher prices than most isn't too cool in my book. Even though they're closer to my house than the "other stand" mentioned above, I guess I'll keep taking my business to the "other stand" for now. read more

This taqueria has fantastic little taquitos! The employee taking orders was kind and polite. My friend and I ordered a taquito plate and requested that half be pastor and the other half bistec. The order came with charro beans and THEY WERE SO DELICIOUS!! We also ordered breakfast tacos for our friends and the prices were very reasonable at $1.69 per taco. Orders also are accompanied with red and green salsas which also had great spice level and flavor. If you're a tourist looking for some good food, I would recommend this spot. It makes for a satisfying meal after before heading out to the beach. I'm rating 4 stars out of 5 though as I believe the employees should be wearing masks to mitigate the spread of germs especially as we deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. read more
