I will absolutely be coming back to Street Disco. One of the best recent meals I've had in Portland and that's saying a lot because the food scene here is incredible. There were several highlights of the night, starting with the tuna cannoli. I loved the salty, crunchy seaweed wrap such a fun texture and the tuna was incredibly flavorful. Next were the carrots: sweet, salty, creamy, and topped with what I think was crunchy fried rice. Honestly, I could have eaten two more orders. Do not skip the carrots. They were absolutely delicious and surprisingly one of my favorite dishes of the night. We originally came for a girls' night focused on oysters, and it was the perfect spot. I loved their local PNW petite deep-cup oysters super fresh and delicious. My only note is that I wish they offered another mignonette option besides just hot sauce. The space is lovely and has such a cute vibe for a girls' night out. The service was amazing the wait staff was friendly, attentive, and gave great drink recommendations. Another bonus: it's not located right in central downtown, which actually made it so much easier to park. There was plenty of street parking around, which I really appreciated. My first time here and I had such a great time. The food was amazing and fun. The atmosphere was chill and cool. The service was even better. I went on a Saturday night and ordered a BUNCH. Or it felt like it. I got the chicken nuggies- delish, fun, and simple . The fried pork ribs- big and bomb, so decadent and umami. The snap pea salad which was so bright and citrusy (yum). The Beet salad was delicious but I'm a sucker for a beet salad. It had whipped formage blanc and it was creamy earthy goodness. OH! I also got the Ahi tuna cannoli. I've been to Street Disco for dinner and their oysters - and really loved it here, so I was excited to finally try brunch. Unfortunately, brunch just didn't hit the same for me. It was not a busy day for brunch, we came in on a Saturday. Lots of open seating. The staff here are so helpful and they always look like they're having a good time in the back. Our waitress offered some advice on what to get, which was helpful. The Bloody Mary was great, locked and loaded. I really enjoyed the omelet. We also ordered the shrimp cocktail which was underwhelming, but overall I left feeling like I spent quite a bit for a meal that wasn't all that filling. Nothing was bad - it just felt a little mid compared to how much I've enjoyed their dinner service, which was worth it. I love Street Disco's overall eclectic vibe! It's a great place to hang out with friends or take someone on a date. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The menu has a unique variety of small plates with items you won't see anywhere else. Started with some bread and butter. Butter was delicious but I felt like it would have been better if the bread was warmed/toasted. The lime wings were nice and crispy but a little too much lime for my taste. Service: incredible Ambiance: lovely Food: needs work We ordered several dishes including the steak frites, mash frites, smashed cucumber salad, and the short ribs. Smashed Cucumber Salad: I want to give it an amazing rating but we were unable to eat the whole dish because I believe the restaurant received a delivery of incredibly bitter cucumbers. Half of them were inedible. However, when we asked about this, the restaurant seemed to be aware of the issue and removed the dish from both our table and our check immediately. We definitely enjoyed the few bites we did have that weren't bitter though, the flavor combinations were impressive. Mash frites: delicious and decadent. Fried to perfection. Rich and savory with a vinegar based hot sauce. Lovely. Short rib: I wanted to like this one. I'd give it a 5/10 overall. The outside crust was tough and chewy, though the inside meat was tender. Not very fatty as well, which was a pleasant surprise. But, while we were aware it was smoked, the dish tasted like a campfire. Almost tasted as if it partially brined in Liquid Smoke, it was that strong. Steak frites: we ate it, but I was incredibly disappointed. We waited a long time for this dish and when it came out, the outside was once again tough and chewy, but the inside through me for a loop. Imagine an overdone crust with a completely rare (and cool to the touch) center. ​And it could have used a little salt. So it seems like Street Disco does well with appetizers and sides (assuming no bitter cucumber deliveries) but the protein and main entrees seem to fall flat. read more

We were sat right at the entrance, literally a few feet away, so it was a bit uncomfortable especially with a reservation and plenty of other tables? The food was just ok, with the best probably being the Pork Coppa. The acidic sauce help cut through the rich pork. The Cavatelli was decent but they added beans to it. We took a chance on it but the beans didn't really add an element to the dish. Wok Fried Green Beans didn't have any wok's breath at all, tasted like they threw on chili oil and just served it? Meatballs were your standard meatballs and the Little Potatoes salad was good--rich and the fried shallots were a good touch of texture. First time having the Spaghett-About-It and that's a must-get. It reminded me of a softer Aperol Spritz. Service was below average. I ordered a shot of whiskey and the waitress just told me "no." No explanation of why I couldn't or recommendations of how I was supposed to order alcohol there. The noise level is ridiculous. I could barely understand what the person sitting across the small table from me was saying. My friend and I ordered at the same time (him - spinach and ribs. Me - the burger). His spinach and ribs were brought to the table, and he finished them before my burger arrived. The wait staff is helpful, but there's just something not quite right about this place. We had three different servers attending to us, and perhaps that's why the ball was dropped. I was anticipating my meal here for literally months. MONTHS. I made a reservation on a Monday even! They gave us probably the worst table in the room, but were happy to move us after I requested we be moved. After that, I'm not really sure if the server was mad...? at us...? but both times we ordered drinks, it took so so sooooo long. The second time, we had to ask where they were. Really felt like they didn't want us to drink but whatever. My normal process is to go down a star if I don't want to return, but I actually really want to come back because all the food we ordered was truly outstanding. We are visiting Portland from out of town, and asked ChatGPT for recommendations near our stay. And this place did NOT disappoint. Very amazing vibe and aura. We did not have a reservation, so we were seated at the bar, and the bartender was very friendly with great drink and food recommendations. For reference: We had the Sumthin Sumthin (cocktail) and Acustic Wine (white) to drink. Both excellent options. For food, we had the Cachapa (Corn Pancake), which was essentially the most glorified and WORTH IT cheese quesadilla I've ever had. Very nice balance of sweet and salty. We also had the grilled black cod: it was buttery, soft and tender. The sauce and vegetables complemented it well. The sausage agnolotti is a pasta stuffed with pork; the flavor is sage and pepper primarily, with a bit of a kick, paired with a creamy and savory kick. We also tried the cheesecake for dessert... JAWDROPPINGLY AMAZING. The caramelization on top is creme bru le esque; it has the consistency and lightness of angel food cake, and the fresh honey is the perfect touch. 10/10 experience. We had an amazing brunch experience here today! At 12:30 on a Sunday, they were not super crowded and we had a reservation anyway, yay for places that take these! The dining room is very hip and funky, very Portland. Our server was beyond great, he was so nice and friendly, and right on top of things. We started by splitting an order of the Ricotta Zeppole, which are Italian donuts. They are little fried balls filled with ricotta cheese and drizzled with a tangy raspberry sauce. They were super delicious, and not super sweet, a plus in my book. For brunch, I had the veggies and cheese grits, topped with a poached egg, and it was beyond divine. The flavors were perfect, and there was so much flavor. We all tasted each other's dishes and agreed they were all excellent. One friend had the beans and greens with an egg, it had a wonderful sauce. Another friend had the potatoes with sauce and an egg, it was so good, fantastic flavored sauce. Our other friend had the fried chicken and waffle. It was a ton of chicken. We each had a chunk and she still had tons of chicken. It's some of the best fried chicken I've tasted. The portions are not huge, but we felt they were enough. We felt full after eating, just not stuffed. If you are a big eater, I'd recommend the fried chicken and waffle, as it is a really big portion. We've already made a reservation to come back for dinner. This was a terrific experience. read more

The kitchen is small and the waitstaff can't keep up with orders 2. Or they don't mind serving lukewarm food. Really unacceptable, considering the prices. The sliced bread was stone cold. Food is tasty, nevertheless, so no need to ask for a salt and pepper shaker; it is perfectly seasoned. Portions are small. And for four of us, with six dishes shared, two NA drinks, no dessert--was just under $200 with out tip. We had a great evening and our server was exceptional. From the strange location in not the greatest neighborhood where the only parking I could find was in front of houseless folks doing drugs in a tent, to the nonexistent outdoor seating (although there was a roped off covered area with no tables on a warm spring day), things just kept getting worse. I was on a date and they picked the location so wanted to give it a chance. Starting with the cocktail menu, as a professional mixologist, the only thing appealing to me was a rye old fashioned derivative with tamarind grapefruit simple syrup. It was made with Dickel Rye (which I don't care for) so when the server returned I inquired as the what different Rye's were available. The first suggestion was Angels Envy, which I enjoy, so I asked for that. No mention at all of an upcharge, though I expected a $4-7 upcharge based on the cost difference, and what I've sold it for at bars and restaurants where I've worked. Also ordered our entrees and some hard, tasteless bread served with olive oil (no balsamic) and butter was an upcharge. My steak was overseasoned but palatable and my date ate his food but didn't seem overly thrilled with it. The reason I'm writing this review came next when the check was presented. My eyes about popped out of my head when I saw that my $15 cocktail had turned into a $37 drink with the substitution of rye. I could understand this if I'd ordered a 20yr whistlepig, Johnny blue, or any other $300+ bottle. But Angels Envy Rye, at close to triple the cost of the original drink, more than my steak, and with no word at all from the server it would be a $22 upcharge! I've worked in the service industry for 25 years on every position from busser to management to corporate trainer, and in all types of venues. As a former bar manager, I'm well versed on what a cocktail costs and what the profit margin should be and this is absolutely unacceptable. I couldn't locate our server so I found a gentleman and asked why the cocktail was $37, to which he replied "angels envy brah" like it's an a bottle of Remy Martin or cask strength single barrel select, bottled in bond allocated bourbon. He said he talk to the manager, and the server returned with an attitude saying "you know that's a $90 bottle?" Yes, I do, because I purchased it regularly for not just the restaurant bar I managed but my own personal, in home bar. She acted like she was doing me a favor knocking it down to $30, which she said was an appropriate price, which it's not. Maybe in West Hollywood, NYC or Dubai. Not in Portland. She replied she works at the Hyatt centric downtown and they charge $30. I also work for Hyatt and we charge $20, to which she immediately said "no you don't work for Hyatt." I actually do, and, even if I didn't that is terrible service. Then she said I can either pay the $30 or she can take the $7 back and I can pay $37. A good server A, would have informed the customer of such an insane upcharge (I would not have ordered it if I knew that it was a $22 upcharge), and then would have either taken the drink off or removed the upcharge, not argued about why such an egregious price was valid. The funny thing is an adjacent table (both bartenders) were shocked at the cost) as were the dozen or more bartenders I've asked since, along with non service related restaurant goers and the most anyone expected it to cost was $25. I will not be back, it ruined my date, and I highly suggest (as a patron, industry professional, and consultant) that the restaurant owners look at their prices, their service, the demographic they serve, and the neighborhood and take that I to account. I'm well versed in what a cocktail should cost and this was ridiculous, exacerbated by the response. I'd appreciate it if the owner or general manager reach out to me regarding my concerns. Our server was Ash, who was an absolute delight. He recommended sharing several plates, so we did. Two of us shared the raw oysters, tuna tataki, house-made pappardelle, grilled asparagus and rainbow chard lamb rolls, finishing with a passion fruit gelato that I adored. All of the food was delightful, albeit pricey. We had reservations and were seated pretty quickly. Staff were friendly! Getting our food was a little bit slow, but worth it. It is worth noting that the portions are small, but they do have an estimate for portion on the menu. We ordered the $2 oysters, shrimp louie wraps, meatballs, chicken nuggies and a cheesecake. The cheesecake was the best cheesecake I've ever had in my life! Chicken nuggies had a very unique flavor and I really enjoyed eating it. Prior to visiting Portland, I had done some research on spots that my partner and I needed to try. Street Disco had come up on social media, specifically for their brunch, so we decided to give it a try...and I am so glad that we did. For starters, the staff are amazing. We had made a reservation for 11, not really knowing when our day would lead us to wanting some food, but we ended up walking in at 10, and we asked the hostess if we could get seated earlier with the understanding that it might not be able to happen. She was incredibly kind and seated us right away at the bar with the open-concept kitchen, which was awesome to watch the chefs cook throughout brunch. Our server was also amazing and was consistently attentive, personable, and provided great recommendations. As far as the food for brunch, it's certainly elevated, but not out of scope for people. The options ranged from french omelette to bourbon infused chicken and waffles to oysters on the half shell! My partner and I decided to split the chicken and waffles and the breakfast biscuit...and you NEED to order the chicken and waffles. They bread the chicken to order, and the coating is light and crispy and the waffles and sweet and savory with the bourbon infusion. Get it, and I promise you will not regret it. They also have a great cocktail list for brunch. I started with the bloody mary, which was out of this world good, and then got the make your own mimosa which came with a glass of prosecco and a small glass or fresh squeezed orange juice, so you could manage your own juice to prosecco ratio. I do not normally leave bad reviews but I felt obligated in this case. The service was not good (maybe they were having a bad night, we can potentially look past that). Dishes were served in an unusual order. The salad came about 20 minutes after the fish was served and we assumed they had forgotten about it at that point. When the salad did surprisingly make an appearance as our last dish, we brought the concern up to the server. She said that next time we should let them know of the order we want our dishes. I have never been to a restaurant where I was expected to specify something quite basic such as the order of courses and time in between them. Is that unreasonable? Again, I could have potentially looked past that if it weren't for the larger disappointment that was the tinned fish.. We ordered tinned fish that were literally served in tins on a cafeteria tray. I guess the joke's on us for actually ordering them and expecting something... better? Unique? Maybe chef prepared? Another couple next to us ordered them too and they gave us a disappointed look that basically said "they got you too, eh?". I know, I know, they are literally listed as "tinned fish" on the menu so I do take some responsibility. That said, I feel like we should have been warned considering that each tin cost $25. I did not think it would be so literal and that there would be no chef preparation aside from slapping them on a tray with some pickles and saltines. Don't get me wrong.. The fish were not bad tasting, but neither are canned tuna or canned sardines in my opinion. But... I would never want to spend that much on them nor eat them at a restaurant straight from a can like a stray cat. Additionally, the oysters we had as an appetizer were grainy. The salad was OK (nothing more) and certainly not worth the wait. After spending around $130 for 2 people and finishing everything we ordered, we left the restaurant still feeling hungry. Worst of all, we left with a feeling of shame about our choices and being taken for a ride.
