I reached out to the number listed on Google for assistance with a billing issue. The owner responded and told me my bill showed as paid on his end. I explained multiple times that it showed the same on my end, but the payment had never actually been withdrawn from my bank account. He told me that if the issue wasn't resolved by the next day, I should contact him again. When I did, he said he would waive the late fee if I left cash at the gym. However, I couldn't even access the building because my membership had been deactivated due to the billing issue. I reached back out to ask how I was supposed to make the payment, only to be told not to contact him again because I was "reaching out too much." When the only contact number listed for all four locations is the owner's personal number, I'm not sure what customers are expected to do when they need help. I also requested to place my membership on the three-month hold that he had previously told me was available. He instructed me to contact the billing company, but they informed me they don't handle membership holds. That left me with no option but to contact him again. I understand not wanting to receive business calls at all hours, but if that's the only customer support contact provided, customers shouldn't be criticized for using it. The lack of professionalism and customer service has been extremely disappointing. Unfortunately, the issues don't stop there. The gyms themselves are often dirty, and the location closest to me consistently has more machines out of order than machines that are actually working. Considering members pay both a monthly membership fee and an annual equipment maintenance fee, it's frustrating to see so many machines left unusable. read more

Easily and by far the dirtiest and worst-managed gym I've seen. The equipment is mostly from decades ago and any equipment that requires electricity fails regularly. They never fix the broken stuff. Theoretically, this is a 24/7 gym, but the door malfunctions often, so don't count on getting in. There is no regular cleaning of any kind, so the place is a petri dish. My experience since day 1 of joining on my birthday 12675 and turning 50 has been life changing to say the least. I have attended other locations but gull rd is so close to home. My life has been transformed being able to work out 24/7 pick yer day and consistent. My children notice the difference as well as all my friends I'm still in contact with. i was a member for three years. enjoyed the lifting environment even though they're equipment was no good. when my contract was up they told me that i had to pay for two more months in order to leave in good standing. the owner didn't submit my request until after the bill date so i wound up having to pay for three extra months! Three locations, once price. I say this intrigued me! The newest location is on Westnedge. Nice clean locker room (ladies side anyway) and a lot more options for cardio equipment. Since this is newer, the workout machines are all newer and more modern. They didn't have 24 hr access yet, however, when we arrived they were just closing. The front desk guy said he was going to be there working out for the next 2 hrs so he didn't mind if we did too. I found that respectful and took up the offer! He could've said "nah, bye" lol Gull rd location is where I signed up for the membership. Aaron, the owner, was very kind and showed us around. Now, will I say he was a little pushy? Yes, yes I would. But he was not rude about it. It just kept cutting deals for us to say yes. Coming from Planet Fitness, this location has older equipment but more the traditional style gym I was looking for. Also, they have a ladies only room, not too much more convincing needed to be done :P The third location is off from W Michigan. If this was the gym I walked into for checking it out, there would be no way I would sign. The equipment is old and torn, very limited cardio machines, and an awkward parking lot. I know that this is close to Western so I can see the appeal to freshman in college students but as an adult, no thanks. I'll pass. I will say, that doesn't stop me from giving them a great review. The customer service has been terrific and being open 24hrs is convenient. Best part, several machines that you may have not used or seen before and it's not so jam packed you have to squeeze your way in to get a good workout. read more

Is there anyway to give zero stars? I absolutely agree with all other Yelpers. Wish I'd seen this before I had joined. The first red flag was my first visit to the gym. After seeing the facility, I felt pressured into signing a 3-year contract $20/month, with stipulation that you'd have to pay equivalent to 3-year membership if you ever broke the contract. The manager would not let me leave when I said I'd like to try out other gyms and since I lived close by I reluctantly agreed. Terrible decision. Found out from the friend that she was offered a $10/month contract instead. Shady. Now let's get to the gym itself- sure it has the basic equipment for cardio, but machines are grimey, rusting, and look like they're centuries old with minimal maintenance and cleaning. Staff is not very friendly and trainers don't provide much guidance. The TVs rarely worked and staff could care less. The whole place is a rip off fronting as a gym. Avoid at all costs. I told the manager I need to break the contract since I'm moving. He asked me where to, then proceeded to tell me that driving 25 minutes to a gym is 'not bad'. I had to wait 2 whole years after this conversation for my contract to expire, all the while throwing money every month here. What a waste. Such terrible customer service. Worst gym in the Kalamazoo area. I signed up for this membership 2.5 years ago because they were close and open 24 hours a day. I should have known better when the guy immediately wrote up a membership deal for me to pay $80 a month for one person with no extra benefits. When I said no, we haggled all the way down to $20 a month. After a few months of work not going one time, I decided to cancel my membership. When I walked in they told me that I had signed a 3 year contract, I remember signing, but was not told about the 3 years! Today I went back in to cancel the membership again because I thought it has been close to the 3 years. In order to cancel today I had to pay 75% of the rest of my contract and a $50 "enhancement" fee because they haven't gotten enough money yet from me. Do not join this gym unless you want to regret it for the next 3 years, go to planet fitness or literally anywhere else. read more

This is one of the few if not only gym in kalamazoo that caters to gym goers that want to lift heavier weights. Its a small personable gym, the owner is super cool and all of his staff have been great. I love the fact that EVERYONE participates in wiping down the equipment. I live in portage so I frequent the one on westnedge. Every once in a while I go to the one on gull, which is my favorite. the place is like weit lifting mecca! lol. seriously great gym. I was able to even negotiate my contract for 3 yrs at only $1k up front (that's $27 a month). It's 24 hrs, has a sauna (which I don't use). I'd like to mention too, that I cam from family fitness....wanna talk about a scam?....yea they were the biggest one in kalamazoo! side note, i hate the the state of michigan is trying to fine them for letting THEIR CUSTOMERS DECIDE TO WEAR A MASK OR NOT! DON'T SIGN ANYTHING WITHOUT READING THIS-- Make sure you check the box (don't just initial by the X and write a number in the circle like they tell you). You have to check the box, otherwise you will be charged even after your contract expires. Auto-renewal (in their eyes) can extend past the contract expiration date. Ask for a clause to allow for complete contract termination. If you are military, ask for a military clause to be added. When you provide them your notice of termination, make sure to keep proof forever so when they randomly begin charging you again over a year later you can slap it down on the desk. read more

Hey folks, I have read the reviews and for the most part apparently the expectations of people for a gym is swimming pools ,hot tub's ,attentive service and all that foo foo stuff. This is a gym that has weights and machines and benches no-frills. If you're serious about working out getting in shape that's up to you to do it. If you want to say you belong to a gymFor your social club join Bronson or the Y and pay $80-$100 a month and never go. I would NEVER recommend this gym to anyone! 30/mo for 36 months and you cannot break your contract... regardless of circumstances. The people who sign you up will TELL you anything you want to hear but the bottom line, is what you sign! Secondly, the equipment is frequently broken. I really wanted to join a locally owned gym and support my community. Unfortunately, the owners and managers care nothing for the community and will swindle and lie. It disappoints me to have to write such a review, but I don't want anyone to fall into the trap that I did! When I relocated I sent them a cancellation letter. They continued to take money out of my account. I then had to change me account number to stop it! They then took me to SMALL CLAIMS COURT!!! Where the local "judge" allowed the "manager" with his stack of about 10 of us, get the shaft and I was forced to pay over 500.00. I attempted to cancel less than 2 weeks after joining! Haven't been to this gym since the spring of 2015 and just found out that my cancelation was "handled improperly". I've been paying these fucks for the last 2 years for a gym I can't use because I moved across state for work and was under the impression that my membership had been cancelled. These crooks have been taking 30 bucks a month from me for two years on top of the extra 50 bucks a year for maintenance fees. Don't sign a contract with these people. They'll take ur money any way they can and destroy your credit in the process. read more

I wish I didn't even have to give this gym a single star. The gym is dirty and the customer service is garbage. First, they lock you into a long term agreement using high pressure sale techniques. There is absolutely no way to get out of the membership. My contract expired and they continued to charge me until I called and personally requested it to be cancelled. When sitting down and explaining a gym membership, it's probably best to have your employees explain that you're signing a 3 YEAR membership. On top of saying that I would only be charged $20 a month, my last statement, they charged me $50 for an "annual fee" that was also not mentioned. I began this membership at the end of the summer and have used the gym once. I abruptly had to move away from Kalamazoo and no longer need the membership... I would have never signed an agreement lasting that long, but that apparently didn't resonate with their accounts manager who told me that I was in the wrong because their employees have to follow procedures and that I'm lying about not knowing. He then asked if I knew anyone in the area that I could "transfer" the membership over to. This is BY FAR the sketchiest business/gym (whatever you want to call it) I have ever dealt with. Great place to workout, always pretty clean inside. Yes there are often very muscular guys there but they along with the staff are more than willing to help you when you need it. They also have personal trainers available and they know their stuff from my experience! read more
