WHAT TO EXPECT ~Inside, you'll find a check-in desk, a few chairs in case you arrive early, a water cooler, a single unisex restroom and 4 communal area stretch tables. ~I had no idea what the experience would be like. It features part sports massage, part stretching on a table with your clothes and socks on. ~You can put your personal belongings on a shelf under the table. WHAT I LIKED ~It felt like it had all the benefits of massage without having to disrobe and get all oily. ~Staff were friendly. ~Very clean -- they wipe down the tables between clients and the entire studio was spotless. ~No hard sell. WHAT I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED ~Slightly warmer room. ~More relaxing music instead of pop music. ~Individual/private room. ~One of the technicians was sniffing constantly, not sure if it was allergies or if she was sick, but it was distracting. ~Not to hear instructions or conversations between other technicians and clients. ~The hygiene paper covering the 'head hole' needed to be larger. I have been going to Stretch U Rancho Bernardo for many years now. Previously, starting in 2018, my primary location was Kearny Mesa. For the past couple of years, it became RB. I have had the monthly membership for going twice a week. As an older competitive tennis player, PNF stretching has been a huge game changer for me. I had previously taken up Taekwondo to improve my flexibility a few times. But, the ultimate solution for the past 7 years has been Stretch U. My improved range of motion allows me to maintain a position that transformed my 2nd serve quality and percentage. This was instrumental in producing my best year in tennis in 2023 - end of year ranked #2 in San Diego and top 20 in the country for 18 & over 4.5 doubles. Note that i was 56 years old that year and commonly competing with significantly younger players! I continue to make improvements in range of motion and strength while in the outer limits of the range. Still improving at age 59! I consider my stretch techs at Stretch U as and integral part of my support team along with my two masseuses and chiropractor. My current go to tech is Maikayla, but i recommend you try different techs to find the best fit. As a 7-year veteran and having been stretched by over 20 technicians over the years, i have learned that every tech has their strengths and weaknesses for the 120 different stretches, and their physical strength and height can affect this. I came to Stretch U for the first time on my Mom's recommendation. I initially scoffed at paying to be stretched, but since I usually splurge on a monthly massage and workout & golf pretty frequently- I gave it a shot. To my surprise, my stretch session did much more for my body overall than a massage ever has. The first session I had was 40 minutes and I have never gone less than this. Although 20 minute sessions are offered, I like the longer sessions for more intense stretching and the myofacial release included in the 40. After my first session I felt energized, somewhat sore, but much more "loose". I did every week for the first four weeks and then went for a monthly membership. It's a great thing to do as you get older and less flexible- but also just to balance out our daily lives that have become more sedentary. I highly suggest trying Stretch U out. read more

I had my first stretch today by a new tech, Azriele, and just have to take this opportunity to gush! Like many of the professionals at Stretch U, Azriele has a background in kinesiology. To boost her experience she is also a former athlete and professional in the Cheer industry. This means she highly acquainted with the limits the body has for flexibility and how important it is the maintain it. During my stretch she instinctively knew how far to go so that I could relax into the fullest stretch possible. I left feeling relaxed and wishing the stretch was not over. The best part of my week is my 40 minute stretch with DJ! 20 minutes of assisted stretching and 20 minutes of myofascial release gets me through working full-time on my feet and has helped relieve chronic tension in my shoulders. I've been in constant pain from the top of my neck throughout my back for almost a year now and this is the first time I have had this much relief. I was really excited to try this place out... Unfortunately the customer service definitely scared me away. I was running about 10 mins late on the date of my appointment (the location on yelp was incorrect so I showed up to the wrong place). I called Sofia to confirm that I could still make my appointment, and she said it would be fine. However, when I arrived, I was told that Sofia had decided to leave early (And skip my appointment). And that the guy working would be doing the stretching session. I personally don't feel comfortable with having male masseuses, and assumed the same would be said for my session here. I had chosen a female trainer for a reason, and was very surprised that they would switch up trainers on someone with no forewarning. Also, I had just been on the phone with Sofia about 10 minutes prior. She couldn't have told me then? Or just canceled my appointment when I had called? Disappointed is an understatement. I would recommend the 40 minute session as the 20 minute session really leaves you wanting for more. My first stretch was with DJ, as he was recommended in a few reviews, however on my second visit Rachel stretched me and I was just as impressed with her skills and abilities as I was with DJ. If you enjoy being pampered and having some else stretch you - this is the place for you. They are constantly cleaning and adhering to Covid safe protocols. Stretch U is the best thing I do for myself each week! I have been going weekly for three months and have noticed significant improvement in my flexibility and have no more issues with back and knee pain. I used to see a chiropractor to realign joints that got out of whack, but the underlying muscle tightness was still there and inevitably the pain and misalignment would return. Since joining Stretch U, I am able to touch my toes (never have I been able to do that!), and my knees no longer hurt because my IT band has stopped pulling them out of alignment.
