I first got wind of Juan actually surfing Yelp for local gyms- when my local Crunch shut down. But deep down, I also missed and needed that personal 1-on-1 encouragement from an instructor or doing classes that I've always gravitated to. Did a dry-run one Saturday morning just to get a feel and from home to this location, is a solid 20 minutes on the Bronx River Pkwy. Parking was a snap both times I was there. Located on Main St., Juan (owner?) answered all my questions and he in turn, took his time to be as specific as possible, a tour of the gym included plus a Free Trial class whenever I wanted. Perfect! Classes here an ultimate plus for me and that's what I actually loved right from the beginning: those good old-fashioned Toning, Bootcamp, Leg Workouts that really work for me plus Personal Training. And if you're into Zumba, they got that too. The following Saturday, headed down to Tuckahoe for my Free Trial Bootcamp class with Steven who made me work Abs, Arms and Leg muscles in a totally different way. Let me put it this way, the guy was professional, on top of his game and attentive! Man...I came out of there sweating bullets and loved it! I love their pitch and what these guys stand for- but because of my personal time constraints at the moment, the 20-minute trip is what I have to consider. But this is really a cool gym and the price (and attention) is right!

I bought one for a friend and I. Honestly we could not be more pleased! Staff is very friendly, Juan the owner is extremely attentive and helpful. This is not a huge fancy gym, instead an intimate gym where your trainer knows everyone in the class by name. They offer bootcamp classes, Zumba classes and even core classes. If your looking for something different from your ordinary gym experience try I train with Juan, you will not be disappointed!

There was a recent redesign that for me was a downgrade. The dumbbell area was moved to a former fitness studio that feels cramped and smells of rubber. It forces you to use two sides of the gym for a workout. There is some new equipment so there is a bit of a trade off. Regarding the vibe of the gym.... Though not downmarket like 24 hour fitness it is a bit too aligned with the Eastchester neighborhood's residents. It's not onerous but it's also not positive, encouraging or supportive. It took some time to gauge the true feel of this gym but to me it's very apparent. Perhaps it's time for a change in perspective and scenery for the new year?

So I'm the type of person that would rather do anything else but workout ‍ but last spring I…read morestarted going to Fitness Together in Bronxville (by Bxville Nails)and I actually started to go on the regular because workouts were challenging but felt good and my disc herniations were not exasperated by the sessions - which has always been the problem when I've tried to get in to a routine. I'm only 38 but I have an old lady back with a minor curve and herniations at L4, L5, C1 and C2. They renovated over the summer and reopened recently as Celcius. Now they do group classes rather than one-on-one and my first class this morning kicked my butt yet was over before I knew it and I felt great after so it was the same great experience as the one-on-one sessions. For me the best part was that I dropped my kids at school at 8am, started at 8:30 and was home by 9:30 (45 min class) so I had the rest of the morning to get things done. I don't normally promote things but Celcius is worth it and the staff there is so great I can't help post about it

I have been going there for the yoga. This is something I look forward to - something that combines both a sense of "oneness with the world" and a good work-out. The owner, Ivette, recently became the yoga teacher as well. She is to be admired for her knowledge of yoga - her flexibility her ability to show us a great variety of poses. But, it is her sweetness and patience that encourages us to try to be the great role model she is to us. I am so happy that I found a great place like this right in my own neighborhood. Laura North

I show up a little early to fill out paperwork and stuff thinking I was going to take the 4:00 cross training class. The studio was closed! Here she comes walking in with her dog. Obviously they have no clients because there was nobody there. When I asked to see a class schedule, she told me "online." So you don't know when your classes are? Most ridiculous and unprofessional experience I have EVER had. You can't run a successful business with a bad attitude and no customer service skills! NASTY NASTY NASTY

One look at the crust buildup in the urinals tells you no one has cleaned them out in months. Stuff like that doesn't build up overnight. It takes months. Besides that, it was very crowded, so I guess a lot of people don't care about cleanliness. It was evident by the general mess in the men's locker room. I'll look for another gym to join.
