I rarely visit this location anymore because the atmosphere has become so cold. Initially, there were coaches here that I truly enjoyed--they were friendly, engaging. Now, the experience is different. Many coaches don't speak or offer corrections; they are cold and their classes feel equally cold and sometimes awkward . In fact, there is now only one coach at this location that I will attend a class for, as my experiences with the others have been consistently not great. I have joked that I go to the Orangetheory when I want to not be called out or invisible during a workout. The front desk experience is just as disappointing. I walk in and am not acknowledged or greeted; the staff doesn't even look up from their computers, and the same thing happens when I walk out. As a long-term member, I have never been celebrated for a single milestone. I specifically asked for a photo of my last milestone to be sent to me so I could post it, and I never received it. With how much I pay for this membership and the loyalty I've shown since 2021, this is beyond disappointing. I'm not sure how much longer I want to be a member of Orangetheory, and specifically this location.

Now, out of nowhere, I'm being told I can't use my remaining credits unless I pay again to reactivate an "agreement" I never agreed to in the first place. Trayvon, the manager, has been giving me conflicting and frankly dishonest information. First, he claimed my credits were expired. Now he's suddenly saying they aren't expired -- but I still have to pay $119 to access something I already paid for. Funny, because just last week he told me it was $99. So which is it? To make matters worse, they recently got a new owner, and apparently, they think that means they can just rewrite the rules and ignore all existing customer agreements. Sorry, that's not how franchises work. A change in ownership doesn't void previous obligations -- it's called honoring your business's commitments. This location is shady, unprofessional, and clearly more interested in squeezing customers for more money than providing the service they promised. I strongly suggest taking your business elsewhere to a place that values honesty and integrity.

I recently completed a 6-month, 2X a week session (July '21- Jan '22) with Kariim. When I started…read morein July, I told him that I didn't have a lot of weight to lose, but I wanted to feel comfortable in a bathing suit for my 50th birthday in October. My first weigh-in I was at 196.1 and at 5'9", I told him I'd be happy if I could be at 180 lbs. on my birthday. He said calmly, "I think we can get down to 175 lbs." And I remember not giving that statement that much energy because I just wanted to be 180 lbs. But along the way, with his encouragement, advice, guidance, and tough and targeted workouts, I WANTED to get to 175 lbs. and on the day before my birthday, I weighed in at 174.4 lbs. On my last day at the gym, I weighed in at 174.8 lbs. and yesterday I weighed in at home at 173 lbs. Altogether, I lost a total of 21.3 lbs., 3.5% of body fat, and 35.5 total inches all over my body. I have actually gotten down to 172.6 lbs., but I still haven't mastered the eating plan that Kariim encourages, which is why my body fat percentage did not drop as much as I wanted. Kariim is not the type of trainer who yells at you like a drill sergeant, yet his quiet, stern presence makes you want to give it your all (at least that's how I felt). He's personable and shared a wealth of knowledge about the difference between being "fit" and being "healthy". He not only helped transformed my body, more importantly, he helped transform my mind and how I feel about fitness & exercise. I'm determined to make it a part of my life now, like brushing my teeth. I actually work out when I *don't* want to, which is proof for me, that I'm determined to make exercise a regular part of my life and hold myself accountable. Now that I'm happy with the number on the scale, my main focus is fitness and building muscle. I still have a long way to go, but I realize that slow and steady wins the race. I bought some resistance bands to assist with this part of my journey and because of my sessions with Kariim, I'm no longer intimidated by gym machines (as I was before), so if I wanted to go back to a commercial gym again, I could with confidence this time. Someone asked me on New Year's Eve what was the best thing I did for myself in 2021. And besides graduating with my master's degree in May, I would absolutely have to say that working out with Kariim was the best thing I did for myself. He absolutely gave me what I needed, and I'll be forever grateful. (You know that little indention/definition at the top of your arm, near your shoulder? I always wanted that, lol! I signed up with Kariim a few weeks and I can already feel myself getting stronger. Kariim offers training sessions from 1 to 5 days a week at several different times. Right now I only train two days a week at the facility but Kariim has given me a high-intensity interval training plan to do on my off days along with meal ideas. Kariim is knowledgeable and knows what exercises you need to do to reach your desired goals. He'll push your limits but you'll thank him for it in the end. While I'm still early in my process I'm excited about what's to come.

First and foremost, I am just your average chick in the sense that I do NOT habitually workout, count my calories, meal prep, etc. I did have a membership at LA Fitness for 3 years (2015-2017) but was really only actively using it for 1 year so I finally made the decision to cancel it. I first step foot into this box July 4, 2017 when my boyfriend invited me to come to their post-WOD ("workout of the day") BBQ. I literally only came for the food, sorry! At the time I still held a membership at LA Fitness and had absolutely NO intentions of committing to another gym; Especially not CrossFit. But of course everyone urged me to give it a try and I left that day with the mindset that CrossFit was a cult (lol). [...Fast forward to March 2018 when the 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games were going on...] My boyfriend asked me to come to the box with him every Friday this month to record his WODs and so I did. On the last week of March, he spontaneously bought me a Groupon for their Fundamentals class ($32) and the rest was history... I've never found a fitness program that I enjoyed until I started CrossFit. Reasons why I love this program (and why it works for me): *Your WOD is created for you & released on their app (Wodify) 8PM the night before so you never have to pre-plan before coming. Plus, they're typically only 15-30mins long but it'll get your HR way up there bc of its style of HIIT. *You always work out in groups/classes which is motivating when you feel like stopping mid-workout but everyone around you is still going strong. Everyone is also so welcoming & full of encouragement! *If there is an exercise that you are unable to do, there is always a scaled version of it or some type of exercise you can do to work on those targeted muscles. *There is always a coach present to stretch you out as a group, ensure everyone warms up properly, & guide you throughout the WOD/correct your form if necessary. *They have a great sound system & nothing is better during a workout than music drowning out the sound of your pain. More about the Groupon Deal: Fundamental classes start at the beginning of every month. Classes are MWT @ 7:30PM for the first 4 weeks. You will then graduate to the intermediate class which you will be allowed to attend for the following 2 weeks and decide if you would like to purchase a membership. You get a cool swag bag for joining which includes free monthly body composition analysis at Max Nutrition. More about CrossFit Valitus: Classes are offered 6 days/week (Monday-Saturday) with M-F at 6AM, 7AM, 12PM, 4:30PM, 5:30PM, and 6:30PM and Saturday at 9AM or 10AM. Some Saturdays are partner workouts to which you're more than welcome to bring a friend/family member as long as they're familiar with the WOD's exercises. They're also open on Sundays at 12PM as an open gym so you can come and work on any exercise that needs improvement. Oh, did I mention you get access to Dynamo's Swim Club!? My (fusion) surgery was November if 2022 and I was back at Pilates by January (which my surgeon approved over regular PT after reading the instructor bios) and in the weight room by May. I'm stronger and leaner at 60 than I was at 35. On top of the amazing results is I always feel fantastic after an hour at Align Movement and Design. I had multiple issues with scheduling, cancellations, getting charged incorrectly, and communication. It was very difficult to get a clear resolution from the staff. The studio often felt disorganized. The billing practices and cancellation fees feel excessive, and trying to get a reasonable answer or resolution is an exercise in frustration. Instead of working with members, the staff seems quick to quote policies without showing any understanding or any documentation. Matter in fact, they were too lazy to show me the document I signed when I first onboarded because I came from the Chamblee location. For the price of a membership, I expected so much more. It is far too expensive for the level of service you receive and it simply isn't worth the money. Before you consider signing up with Orangetheory, do your research and look at other health organizations (Burn Boot Camp, Life Time, La Fitness, Club Pilates, etc...). Save your money and spend it somewhere that actually values its members.
