You can immediately tell that the owner puts extra care and intention into everything she offers. I had the chance to talk with her about some of the pieces and materials, and I really appreciated that many of the options are local -- always a big plus in my book. One detail that really stood out to me (and that I learned sets this studio apart from others in the area) is that she also finishes the bottoms of the pieces. That extra attention ensures everything fires properly in the kiln and helps the pieces last longer. It's such a thoughtful touch that shows how much pride she takes in her work. I also loved that all services are included in the pricing, so there are no surprise fees later on. That alone made the experience feel relaxed and stress-free. The selection is fantastic -- from small knickknacks to decorative wall pieces, to dishes like plates and mugs. I genuinely think anyone could find something here that fits their style. And best of all, you're not rushed at all. You could honestly spend the whole day there and no one would mind. While we were there, another woman came in with pottery she hadn't finished from a previous session. She set up with her tablet and headphones and worked quietly for a couple of hours -- it was really cool to see that flexibility. If you don't finish in one visit, you can pack up and come back later, which I love. Turnaround time was also impressive. From when we submitted our pieces to when we got them back, it was only about a week or two at most -- much quicker than I expected. And the results were beautiful. On the day I ordered, it was for 49%. Shipping is exhorbitant. I paid about $10 for regular shipping but the stamps and brads were cheap so no biggie right? Well I got a shipping confirmation from them and one item was missing (they are not very obvious about this considering they buried the info in the bill) but I was charged for it. I wrote an email to them (because, apparently, they don't have a phone number!) asking that they credit the amount ($2.70) to my credit card account. I get a vague email back saying they will credit my "account." I wrote again to confirm whether the account was my cc but I never heard from them. Yesterday, I got my cc bill and the full amount was charged. I also checked w/ the cc company and the credit isn't there. I emailed them again and am now waiting for an answer. Yeah the stuff is cheap but it's not worth the aggravation (yes the item in question showed up as "available" online!). Two stars for the cheap craft items but no stars for service. I know I'm complaining about $2+ but it's the principal of the matter!

There's currently 3 aisles with glass sheets, some tools, supplies and items for kiln work. As always the owner was very nice and helpful. He offered to get my glass to my car. One you enter, you go through a small room into another and then up a couple of concrete stairs, then you're there. They still have the best selection in the area (and almost the only selection that I know about south of Burien).

From knives to pots and pans to kitchen gadgets you didn't think you would need until you see them. They even have makeup, hair products, clothes, and anything you can think of. It was so much fun roaming around this store, and they have a variety of the same item. For example, my goal was to get a butcher knife. They have big ones, small ones, heavy ones, ones with short handles, and ones with longer handles. I spent a long time picking one out to my liking. The inside feels like a big warehouse with everything neatly placed in a way that you can just walk up and down the aisles with ease. There was so much to look at that I felt like I spent close to an hour or more here. Some things were reasonably priced, while others were a little higher. It really depends on what you plan on getting from here. I almost got a wok from there but decided against it because the one on sale was a little bit too heavy for me. If you are in the area and love kitchen things, I would suggest going to Shin Shin to check it out. It was fun for me, and I plan to take my mom there on our next trip to Seattle. However, I might regret that decision later, because my mom would just spend her entire trip there and not want to leave. Haha, I will keep you posted on this. Parking is plentiful. Credit cards are accepted. One thing that caught my attention, though, was that the employees would stare you down after a little while. Instead of having security cameras, they have employees at every corner who would randomly show up next to you to ensure you are "shopping" and not stealing. As other Yelp posts have noted, they do have attentive store personnel that are at the ready should you have any questions. Unless you're a regular shopper, one will definitely be wandering and browsing every aisle since there are no overhead signage. After all that wandering, I did end up paying for a substantial back scratcher for The Homie and a floral print quilted vest for my mom. Both were reasonable and one was even on sale! Chalk it up to, you don't think you'll find anything in particular, but stop in Shin Shin for some momentary retail therapy.
