I had been wanting to try Strip's for a while, and I'm really glad I finally did because this ended up being a genuinely great spot. The chicken was the star right away. It was juicy, tender, and very clearly fresh. We tried the Crispy Chicken Strips, and that pretzel breading they have was so crisp and satisfying. I appreciated that the bartender warned me the regular breading on the fried chicken bites had a mild spice. I can't do spice at all, so that kind of heads-up really matters. The fries were really good too. They were seasoned enough to add flavor without taking over the meal, which I think is especially important with fried chicken. I only wish they had come out a little hotter because paired with how fresh the chicken was, that would have made the plate pretty much perfect. Still..they were absolutely worth eating. The fried chicken bites were also fresh and tasty. We did think they could have used a little more breading, but it did not take away from the overall dish. Sauces- My partner tried the mango habanero sauce and said it smelled spicier than it actually tastes! Which was helpful intel from my spice tester that I'm passing from me to you! For me, the honey mustard was a standout. I'm not sure if they make it in house, but it was one of those sauces that immediately makes you think, okay yes, this is one of the good honey mustard places!! You don't do that? The smashed potatoes and gravy deserve their own paragraph because they were fantastic. This is the kind of side that makes a place more memorable. I love when a restaurant has a few items or sauces that feel a little different from the usual copy and paste menus. The smashed potatoes were great on their own, but that skillet-style gravy really made them level up. The vibe was another plus. It was a Saturday night and it wasn't overly crowded. This is the kind of casual dive bar you can just hang out and actually talk. There's a little game room with pool, darts, and a giant Connect Four setup! That was super fun! I won at Connect Four so obviously that made it more fun, but it was great and a nice little add beyond just being another place to grab fried food and a drink. For a divey spot, everything also felt decently clean and well kept. The bathrooms were clean, and the bar area looked pretty and maintained.They've got a jukebox you can control from your phone, which is such a fun touch. Yes, it costs money like a normal jukebox, but being able to do it from your phone is pretty nice. My one real issue was service based, after I accidentally spilled my drink it never got cleaned up, so I ended up sitting with my feet in soda through the rest of the meal. I only saw two people working though, so it felt more like understaffing than indifference. We were too full for dessert, but we had to try the crème brûlée cheesecake so we took it home. It was decadent, and a little different! The cherry marshmallow sauce on top was not your standard finish, and I really liked that. That was kind of my overall takeaway from Strip's. It doesn't feel like a copy-and-paste bar food spot. A couple things could have been better, but the food was strong enough that I'd definitely come back. read more

This has been on my list to try for a while now and I was in the area the other day so decided to stop in. It wasn't busy so parking wasn't an issue. The interior is clean and well maintained. Service was friendly. They have beer, cocktails, and soft drinks. The beers on tap are brewed in collaboration with local breweries and a few in manhattan. I tried the Gunslinger Gold West Coast IPA that was brewed with Red Crow. It was a really good, nicely done IPA. We ordered food to go and our order was accurate. We started with the Crispy Portobello Strips: Fresh Portabello Mushroom caps cut into strips & fried with pretzel breading. These were probably my favorite thing that we ordered. They weren't soggy and you could actually taste the mushrooms because the breading was light. I also ordered the Crispy Chicken Strips:Zesty Batter & Pretzel Breading. They came with a side so I opted for the fries. I was honestly underwhelmed. They weren't bad but they weren't amazing either. The chicken was well cooked. The breading was good. But it kept reminding me of frozen Tyson chicken nuggets. The taste that is. The fries were also average. I really liked the honey mustard sauce and it saved the meal overall. Since they had mac and cheese, I decided to try it. It wasn't the best and it wasn't the worst I've ever had. Again, just average. I really wanted to love this place due to the people and beer but I wasn't blown away. They do have burgers and other offerings so I may need to return to try some other items. I found Strip's by accident after driving through the area after leaving a restaurant destination nearby that had a line out the door and I didn't have the desire to attempt a wait. Strip's only had a couple of other diners on a Saturday afternoon so I had quick and efficient service. I wasn't feeling in a chicken mood at the time so i passed on the signature items and ordered a tenderloin with fries. The tenderloin was very large and had a nice breading and the fries were hot and crispy and a spicy in-house ketchup was provided. Soooooo, just a random pick off of DoorDash brought this restaurant in our crosshairs. I'm a big fan of chicken in general and definitely a fan of Buffalo Chicken Wraps. My wife for Chicken Bites. We both different Mashed Potatoe sides. Wow oh wow, these are delicious! My only kinda gripe was the tortilla had a weird texture to its other than that, everything was amazing. I got the mashed potatoes with bacon, sour cream and cheese...DELICIOUS! My wife got the mashed potatoes with gravy...DELICIOUS! The chicken is breaded and tasty! But I'm confused...the receipt says dive bar but this Yelp entry says brewery. Which is it? Either way, we will try top stop by this place in person to try it out. read more

I guess I am a little confused by the need for this place. There are several of them that have popped up, and the few I have stopped in at are nothing to write home about. This one was for me to grab a quick strip lunch. It took 25 minutes to get that lunch. During that time, I had to bother the bartender to get a beer. Which WAS a bother. After delivering a slopily poured beer to me, she retreated to where (I'm guessing a regular) sat at the end of the bar, where they talked and ignored me, the only other person in the place. Beer was drunk. No refill or any other offer was given. When food finally came out and was plunked down in front of me... I had to wait for her to break away from conversation again... so I could pay. My card was out and on the bar from the second I ordered, and the beer was delivered! I get it... FPO and I came here at the recommendation of friends. We got here about 6 pm on a Saturday and only one table was taken. We were greeted as we walked in and told we could sit wherever. Others came soon after and by the time we got our food the restaurant was about half full. We ordered the Portobello Mushroom Strips (minimally breaded but a little salty). FPO got the full rack of baby back ribs. I tried them and they were okay. Needed the BBQ sauce; the ribs weren't flavorful alone. I ordered the Avocado Chicken Sandwich. It was okay. Not bad, not especially good, not particularly memorable. The service was okay. Our waiter answered the questions we asked. There was someone else who spent most of his time leaning on a pillar near the bar. We also saw another of the employees eating something a customer was returning to the kitchen because it was incorrect. Next time we'll explore someplace else. read more

I liked everything about this new "dive bar" including the delicious, generously sized chicken sandwich, the good variety of sides, the reasonable prices and the first-rate service during my dine-in lunch visit. My grilled chicken sandwich with choice of side ($9.99) was served with a smile just a few minutes after I ordered at the bar, where the service was helpful, attentive, cheerful and friendly. The sandwich stood 3" tall with a toasted bun, fresh veggies, several moist, tasty chicken strips and a delicious sauce - nice! I also liked the very good selection of side items including the yummy, healthy superfood slaw. I noticed a clean and new seating area, a full bar with several signature drinks, 14 TVs, an electronic jukebox, two dart boards, a pool table and country background music inside with a large patio outside. This is a clean "dive bar" with great food! I have celiac and they have GF/GS items which I appreciate. Their GF chicken nuggets are excellent and their fries that I choose are also good and I don't care for fries that much. They have a well stocked bar and friendly servers. Stopped by for a late lunch. It's a seat yourself place but someone came right over and got our drink order. We ordered fries zucchini, they were out of fries mushrooms, chicken strips and chicken nuggets. All yeh breading was very black pepper forward, almost too much to eat. Fries on the side were overcooked and under seasoned. The fresh fries pork skin was the star. Don't sleep on that. Tries the ranch sauce and the strawberry bbq sauce weee ok. What a great experience my wife and I had at the Lenexa spot. I enjoyed the fried chicken dinner and my wife had the chicken strips. It's great to see a restaurant season everything. I had the five piece order with a side of fries which I split with my wife. They were hand battered and really good. They offer 2 dipping sauces on the side. I chose the super hot and the mango habanero. Both were tasty, but I didn't expect the ketchup to be homemade. What a surprise! The ketchup is kinda spicy and really good. I rarely take the time to review restaurants- but this place was a very unexpected treat! We popped in here for a quick lunch and ended up going back two days later because it was sooo good! We have tried the Keri chicken sandwich, the fresh pork rinds(delicious if that's your thing!), pork tenderloin strips and regular strips. Everything was delicious and we can't wait to come back in the evening sometime to try their delicious crafted cocktails. The owner and staff are excellent as well! Being that I live a block into KCK I like to check out new places in the area. I decided to make the trip down Merriam Drive to Strip's. They did a great job in rehabbing the old Bilski's/Blonde's site, with several 40" TV's over the bar, dining, and game room areas. I wanted to try their chicken strips, got them in less than 5 minutes, and was very impressed in how they came HOT along with the fries, which were seasoned well. I was assured by the owner that the sweet tea I ordered as well was fresh, made 20 minutes or so prior. The chicken is NOT a tender like KFC or Cane's but a strip, premium chicken coated in pretzel dough which made the meal outstanding. The "dive bar" has about 20 beers on tap as well as canned beers and extensive liquors. Also the only meats they have are chicken or pork-based, so if you're looking for burgers or dogs you'll have to go elsewhere. All in all, an excellent place in quaint downtown Merriam that's WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! read more
