Decided to have nice night out. Didn't know I would receive a 2 for 1. The service was awesome and lively (at the daiquiri and wing spot). The ambiance is nice the cover change was $5.00 atm and there is an outside patio area to sit. The music was Banging! and the drinks are flavorful to many options to count. Only drink 1 (2 if you live close by) lol. Can't wait to enjoy the vibe again! Parking was easy to find

Deliciousness! Fried fish, whole garlic parm wings, and tots. Plus the Nashville hot sauce on the side.

Good on point! Really hit the spot for some casual dining of friend food. Had the fried fish and it measures up. Husband had the garlic parm whole wings and they too were great! We will return and the service was fast. And don't forget to ask for some of the Nashville hot sauce-delicious!

We were warmly greeted as soon as we walked through the door. Our order was taken immediately, I love how short & simple the menu is while still adding their own unique touches to certain burgers. They also serve chicken, fish, and tacos. My food was amazing. The burger was much more than expected and worth the $8, with the side of fries for $2 were beer battered. I went and got a daiquiri next door at Velvet freeze next door, because they are two businesses combined into one. I'm glad we came early because the line was almost out the door in the rain by 7 p.m. I definitely see why, I don't hand out 5 stars often, but when I do you can bet your tastebuds it's worth it!

Just a few doors up from 18th Street on Vine is Smaxx. A small diner serving grilled and fried foods. It contains about 8 or so booths and displays photos and framed articles and advertisements of KC history on the walls. I ordered the Bacon Onion Burger with rings. The rings were pretty basic mass produced frozen fare, but the burger was outstanding. A very large patty seasoned and grilled, with tons of fried onions, bacon, lettuce, pickle, and tomato. Very friendly service and local owned in KC's most historic neighborhood. Plenty of reasons to pay Smaxx a visit.

This was my second time visiting Smaxx. This time I got the "Fried Fish Basket". Let me say I was not disappointed and I had enough to share with the office. It was fried to absolute perfection and it was cooked fresh while I was there. This will definitely be my go to when I visit Samxx.

The KC burger is everything that it's cracked up to be, and more. Seriously great burger without any sauce. The onion ring is a really good addition. Fries are fresh and seasoned well. Gotta go back and try more!

Meet the owners who were awesome. velvet freeze daiquiri. Very beautiful ambience. Wish you much success

Looking for a great authentic burger. The KC Burger was excellent. Visiting from California and meet the owners of Smaxx and The Velvet Freeze Daiquiri. They were very friendly and stopped to make sure we were okay and talked to our family about the history. If you are visiting the historical 18th & Vine make sure to grab a bite at Smaxx and visit the Velvet Freeze Daiquiri next door for a refreshing treat. Ambience is great and music is awesome! Wishing much success. California visitor

Wanted to be sure to try this spot since we missed the chance last time and it did NOT disappoint. We ordered wings, a burger and a philly. Wings: on point. Cooked well and seasoned well. Came with fries, not many in our party liked the fries but we did have to drive them back to our hotel (20 mins) so that could have been a factor. Also, HEADS UP when you order wings you have to order ranch ( 18 wings ordered and we had to pay extra for ranch¿ ) Burger and Philly: both were seasoned well and very good. Only thing missing...(again)...CONDIMENTS no mayo, mustard special sauce anything. BUT obviously the food was GOOD because we still ate it and enjoyed it. I just prefer my sandwiches UN-DRY

To have this exquisite sanctuary within mere walking distance of our front door feels like discovering a secret coordinate on an old traveler's map. It is a place that exerts an irresistible pull, anchoring itself as the absolute perfect destination for an intimate, romantic date night or a lively, laughter-filled evening meeting up with friends. There is a brilliant, transportive alchemy at work here, transforming a casual stroll through our neighborhood into a deliberate departure from the ordinary, where the modern world gently recedes into the background. The atmosphere is utterly on point, evoking the hauntingly beautiful, slow-burning elegance of a French colonial-era brasserie tucked away in the humid heart of Southeast Asia. There is a distinct, poetic nod to the writing of Joseph Conrad within these walls--a deliberate, masterful play of light and shadow that makes the space feel alive with a quiet, brooding mystery. While exceptional food is always memorable, what truly sets a restaurant apart is outstanding hospitality and customer service. During our visit to Bristol, one person made our experience unforgettable: General Manager Brittany Padillas. I was excited to try the Lobster and Crab Roll, but I have a severe allergy to crab while lobster is perfectly safe for me. I asked our server, Ryan, if it would be possible to prepare the roll without the crab. He told me confidently that it couldn't be done because the lobster and crab were already premixed I asked if he could possibly ask someone and he said no. I was quite disappointed because I really wanted to try their roll. Although I suspected there might be another way, I didn't want to make an issue of it, so I simply accepted his answer with reluctance. A few moments later, as I was walking to the restroom, I happened to meet Brittany Padillas, GM for Bristol, She warmly asked how everything was, and I told her our meal had been wonderful except that I wasn't able to order the Lobster and Crab Roll because of my crab allergy. I explained what our server Ryan had stated. Without hesitation, she responded, "We absolutely could have accommodated you." She explained that the kitchen could prepare a fresh lobster roll without the crab. She asked if my husband and I had about 10 minutes to wait before leaving, and of course we gladly did. A short time later, Brittany personally brought me the most delicious, fresh, warm lobster roll I have ever eaten. It was absolutely outstanding. I was so impressed. What impressed me even more than the food was Brittany's attitude. The word "no" simply doesn't seem to exist in her customer service vocabulary. She genuinely cares about every guest's experience and goes above and beyond to make things right. Her professionalism, leadership, compassion, and commitment to excellence are exactly what every General Manager should strive for. As someone who has spent more than four decades in the culinary industry, and a professional food critic I can confidently say that Brittany Padillas is one of the finest General Managers I've ever encountered. Her hospitality is exceptional, her dedication is genuine, and she represents Bristol with the highest level of excellence. Thank you, Brittany, for turning what could have been a disappointment into one of the highlights of our dining experiences. Because of you, we will absolutely be back when we are in town and I highly recommend Bristol to anyone looking for not only outstanding food but world-class customer service. So yes it's possible to get a "Lobster Crab Roll without the crab or maybe without the lobster" just ask Brittany!
