Okay - so I've seen this place and thought to myself - another chicken place. I figured it's just another place that covers the chicken in a sauce- but I was pleasantly surprised. Keven greeted me and walked me through their spice levels - so on the side of using good judgement I went for a medium 2 strip dinner. Made fresh to order it took about 8 minutes to get my order but it was a lovely change from the slightly warm chicken generally found at a fast food restaurant. These chicken strips were huge! And they've been crusted with the flavor - not drenched in sauce. The chicken was moist and delicious as were the seasoned fries. This will become a go to spot for chicken - winning out over any of the more well known places for me! read more

I dined at Dave's Hot Chicken today and the experience was decent overall. My favorite part of the experience is the decor because it's fun, loud and very colorful and makes the space feel energetic as soon as you enter - especially being greeted by Dave the chicken swirling along side a tornado lol saying "there is no place like Dave's!" Overall, it gives the restaurant a modern street style feel with the bold colors and graffiti around. We bought 2 - one tender and one slider combos $14 each along with buffalo style Mac and cheese with three small chicken pieces $7 and the final bill including tip was $42. The tenders were packed with flavor - crispy and juicy chicken. It was perfectly fried and had the right amount of medium level spice on it. However the buffalo style Mac and cheese was cold and underwhelming - three pieces of chicken with hardly any actual Mac and cheese and fries - it was not what I expected. I definitely expected more Mac and cheese haha. Another downside for me was the pricing of the combos/food- it was high because if you look at the combo it's just two tenders with some bread and sauce. Daughter got Single slider basket deal. Mild level. Was the perfect spicy. Daughter ordered this. She is not into spicy too much. She said she wants to try a level up on spice next time. It's a layer of fries, A layer of cheese, another layer of fries and topped with cheese. That was not the case. Definitely only cheese over the top only but it's ok. First time trying this restaurant. Walked in and it was very busy. At first was worried about finding a seat but we did. We ordered the two tenders with fries. I did not get any sauce. My husband had the mild. The chicken was very juicy and the coating was crunching and very tasty. The fries had a coating on them which brought them to life! Our chicken was fresh and seasoned well. We ordered the medium spice level -- it was spicy but not too much. The slider had a kale slaw that muted the spice. The tenders themselves are pretty big so I appreciated that for the price. Our fries were warm and soggy. I wish they would have been fresh. The store was messy and understocked. The soda dispenser was out at least 2 sodas. The napkins needed restocked in that area too. The tables in the restaurant needed cleaned. Totally worth it! 10/10 I was not feeling the heat so I got #4 (chicken slider with coleslaw, fries, and pickle) with "mild" level . It did not disappoint! Don't be fooled by "slider" It is as big as regular chicken sandwhich. However, I wish it was chicken pattie and not 2 pieces of tenders on burger buns. It kept falling apart. I've stopped in here to pick up dinner, and ordered via DoorDash a few times now, so I think it's fair to say I'm a fan. There was a ton of hype surrounding Dave's when it first opened so I was a bit worried it might be overblown as often new chains that open up in the area are. I'm happy to report though that as unhealthy as this addiction is, I love Dave's Hot Chicken. First things first. When we ordered for the first time we noticed they sell "sliders" I want to let folks who haven't been here yet know that a slider is (at least to me) a full on sandwich here. I find that one slider with fries is more than enough food. I think the first time I ordered I did one slider, one tender, and fries, and I didn't even touch the tender until the next day. Those are also huge BTW. Now onto the food: overall, it's great. The chicken has fantastic flavor, the sauce is better than Cane's, and the fries are tasty. I do think the fries could be a smidge better, but I mean for a fast food place I think they rank pretty high in my book. Some of the reviews are complaining about the price. I honestly don't see that as an issue. Is it more expensive than say, McDonalds? Yes, but it's also a lot higher quality, more filling, and you get more food. DoorDash is fast with Dave's and if you order online and pick up it's even better. The one time I stopped in to get my food on the way home from an event I found the restaurant clean and inviting. I'm honestly not one to dine in at a fast food place often, but this one felt nice enough to be worth the experience. Overall Dave's has become one of my guilty pleasures and I think if you're craving a really great fast food style hot chicken sandwich this is an excellent choice. read more

It was an OK experience. Our cost for two meals and one drink was $33 so I'm rating them based on that. If we can get a similar meal at a fast food place for $10 less you have to really step it up to make it worthwhile to me. We couldn't tell a difference between the Medium and the Hot chicken. Near the end I think I figured out which of mine was spicier. We came ready for spicy and it didn't deliver. I guess we should have ordered Extra Hot..but the level above that required you to sign a waiver so I figured Hot would be Hot enough. This might be your new favorite place though because though the heat and flavor didn't match my expectations I found the chicken to be juicy and well breaded with crispy coating. The potato buns were soft and fresh. There were extra pickles and their mayo-sauce in the basket. The fries were hot and well seasoned. It was served quickly and there was room enough for a group of friends to come and hang out. The dining room had fun painted murals and ceilings. Tried Dave's Hot Chicken for dinner this week. We must have gone at just the right time, because there was no line and we got our food very quickly. All the front counter help were super friendly. The hot has amazing flavor, and the tenders are so crispy with just the right amount of heat. The medium was good, but I'd get Hot and the extra Hot next time. Definitely put that honey all over your chicken, and they give lots of pickles on the side, huge bonus for me. I didn't get the macaroni and cheese, but I've had it before at a catering and it was delicious. The shakes looked good, but I was too full to try one this time, there's always next time! The chicken wasn't dry and had good flavor. The pickles are good and nice and fresh. The crinkle cut fries are standard but delicious. Came out to try the new place, staff is accommodating, lobby is unique and plenty of seating. The line was long, 1 hr from the start to order, food came out pretty quick and was hot. I offered 2 #') 3's and 1 # 4 I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 on flavor portion sizes were great and daves sauce is 5/5 on it's own. Dave's first KC metro location served up some somewhat tasty Nashville-style chicken and delicious fries during my opening day dine-in lunch but there was room for improvement. My #3 meal {$12.99 without drink) included a tender on a piece of white bread, a tender sandwich with kale slaw and Dave's sauce, crinkle cut fries and pickles. I picked up my order when the beeper went off just three minutes after I ordered at the counter, where the service was efficient and accommodative. I was also checked on by a manager - nice! I liked the Nashville-style chicken with seven different heat levels. I tried the medium heat level. It was salty and a little tangy. The tender was nicely sized, not especially thick and somewhat moist. It was served on a piece of very stale white bread. The slider had a smaller tender, a fresh bun and tasty kale slaw without much apparent kale. I was pleasantly surprised by some of the best fries I've had in quite a while. They were crinkle cut, not greasy, crunchy and extremely flavorful on the outside while being meaty on the inside - nice! I found the dining area to be clean and new with an urban graffiti theme and 80's background music, but the music was quickly drowned out by the noise of the opening day crowd. I noticed some unsettling stinginess like the extremely small, laughable (4 oz?) water cup and the thin napkins that made me question if they had also cut back in other unseen areas. The #3 meal wasn't a value at $12.99 before a drink, but it was a lot of food. Next time I'll order just a tender with fries a la carte because they don't offer that as a meal. This is definitely one of my favorite chicken places! The portions are generous, the flavor and crunch is on point, the buns are soft, the fries are classic, the kale slaw is great. It would be nice to put in requests when ordering on the app as I would ask that the slaw be in the side (little bit of distance away and that would help keep the chicken crunchy). The chicken flavor was very good and I liked the spice level of the medium chicken that I got. The portions were generous but overall I feel it was a little pricey for what we got and compared to other chicken restaurants. I would probably come back to try one of the other items, their sandwich was very good, but basically it was chicken Strips on a bun.
