The Mac n cheese was a small upgrade from fries etc, but it was good and a good portion. I didn't love it, so I'll prob try the fries next time. Beyond thankful for this place. So many gf options. I'm partial to the Honey Kissed Nuggets w/ fries and the Mac bowl with bacon and nuggets. The chicken is cooked perfectly and has so much flavor. The Mac and cheese has gotten so much better and has been delicious the last several times I've gotten it. Sauce wise I prefer the Secret Sauce but the Honey Mustard isn't bad. Always an amazing gluten free experience! This time we tried the family feast with GF nuggets, GF fries, and zucchini, it was delicious! Just a note: online you have the dessert included but on the menu in Lenexa it was not included so we were a little disappointed that we had to purchase when it showed it online, I recommend to correct either online or menu. I was usually met with rude customer service and being treated like I was lying and/or trying to get free food. Just big enough to get me almost to full to want to go back to work. The fries were alright, I didn't mind the secret sauce, but loved that strawberry bbq. I got the regular chicken sandwich to try with no onions and pickles and some fries on the side. It was very good! The chicken was cooked well and the flavor was amazing. My husband got me a gluten free nugget meal with fries and brought it home for me from KC (we live in Wichita). I'd heard a ton of recommendations about this place. Strips Chicken is a one-of-a-kind, locally owned fast food restaurant that operates in what appears to be an old Wendy's building. All the food is made on site, not shipped pre-processed from some far away food factory. The chicken is real, the plentiful variety of sauces are house-made, the pork burgers are ground in the kitchen. They even have their own system for making tiny homemade donuts and they include one of these donuts in every order. For a mom and pop shop, Strips gets a lot of things right. On occasion the line to the register can be long. When this happens, just jump over to one of the menu screens to input your selection and your order will arrive in the kitchen a little quicker. They have a TV monitor mounted on the wall near the soft drink fountain where you can watch the donuts being made in the back. No worries about running out of sauce for your strips or nuggets - just visit the little sauce buffet also near the fountain drinks and get a refill. The grade of chicken in the strips and nuggets is top notch. I prefer a slightly thicker and crunchier breading on my chicken but my wife says she likes Strips' breading perfectly just as it is. I believe the breading is a slightly different recipe between the strips and the nuggets but other than the minor difference in color I can't put my finger on what the difference might be. Custom made salads are available and I really like their hand breaded pork tenderloin, it always hits the spot for me. They also offer chicken sandwiches and homemade ice cream! You can even order a giant platter of strips, nuggets, or wings the next time you need to feed a crowd of people watching the Chiefs game at your house. Here's my only serious complaint - I don't understand why the fries and tots are stored in the freezer when everything else is fresh cut and fresh made, but this is an issue I have with a lot of restaurants. The pork rinds are made fresh in the kitchen, why not offer fresh cut fries too? I have often seen the owner visiting with customers in the dining room during the lunch hour to make sure everything is clean, the line is moving smoothly, and the guests are happy. I don't have many problems with Strips, it's definitely in my regular lunch rotation. When they offer fresh cut fries I'll happily upgrade my assessment to 5 stars. I still really like this place. Usually I get the pork tenderloin sandwich which is one of the best. Today I had the hot honey chicken sandwich. I got my standard smashed potatoes for my side because they are so yummy. The only complaints I had were that the donuts were cold. We did tell the cashier and she promptly got a hot batch made for us.. The other concern was while employees were cleaning behind the counter, they were ignoring the dining area and the trash bin was full/overflowing. Husband said the men's restroom could use attention as well. I have to say the special sauce and the honey Dijon sauce really add a lot. As far as chicken strips go I can see why this place gets the good reviews that it usually does. I loved their breading and sauce options. They have enough sauces to please most any flavor choice. We had some of their donuts they make in house, and they were delicious. Would have loved to explore some of their dipping sauces and toppings for those but we had some kids that liked to keep things simple. One major point that stuck out for me was their options for vegetarians. My wife doesn't eat meat and this place offers a lot of fun options for people avoiding meat. I've never eaten somewhere where the owner publishes his cell number on each receipt and guarantees you'll have a 5 star experience or just call him immediately and he'll make it right. I took the advise of a fellow yelper and slathered on the jalapeno relish to really take it to the next level. The slaw was great. Really the perfect recipe since it was flavorful without being either too sweet, too salty or overdressed. (no soggy slaw here!) The chicken strips "as is" were incredible... And I am a dedicated dunker. Sometimes the sauce alone will win me over and I am amazed to be saying these need no sauce at all. None. The batter was not overly thick but it kept the chicken moist. I've driven past this place so many times, just writing them off as "a fast food place". But boy was I wrong! Their food is legit good, far more than you would expect from "a fast food place". The chicken sandwich was on a real bun (not something from a normal fast food place)... and the mashed potatoes were REAL mashed potatoes (I was expecting the typical cheap flakes). Everything was just surprising good and quality. I think I've found my favorite place to get a chicken sandwich at and I'll be coming here a lot more for lunch and dinner. This place has some very different and delicious menu items that you won't see at a typical fast food joint. First is the pork burger, which is really juicy and delicious. My personal issue with this burger is that it's huge--2x quarter pound(?) pork patties makes for a huge amount of food. Of course I always say I won't eat the entire thing....but I always do.
