Daniel helped setup my appointment over the phone and explained any questions I had. Once I got there I was greeted by Daniel and he took me in one of the rooms to take an eye exam. Daniel is very calm and very patient, as he explained everything in great detail along the way. I have been wearing glasses my entire life so I wanted to try Contact Lenses for the first time. Shortly after Dr. Vo came in and explained everything to me regarding my eye exam and any questions I had about contact lenses. Dr. Vo was very patient in explaining everything to me about contacts, and she simply put the lenses in my eye so show me how painless this was going to be. Finally I walked around the store in search of a pair of new glasses as well, the store is very clean and well organised. Finally I got to meet Ellie who is probably one of the sweetest people I have met in my life. Ellie helped me in picking out my frame and explaining all the different options and add ons along with pricing as I do not have insurance. Their office was very understanding with the add ons I selected for my glasses. I have been back to this office another 2 times for additional testing on my eyes due to some concerns from Dr. Vo. There are certain days of the week when the office is open until 7 PM, perfect for accommodating my work schedule. The office staff here is super friendly and knowledgeable. I've never waited long to be seen, a small miracle these days. I have a limited purpose FSA to help with expenses for vision and the team works with me to make sure I'm making the most of my benefits. During my first visit, I felt like the blue light blocker and anti glare were just add on options to increase expenses but I cannot imagine living and working without my blue light blocking lenses! The optometrist told me that it was the fault of the company that placed the lenses in the frames. Effectively, it was a bad break for me. Everyone here is SO nice. Jodi & Brittney at the front desk are just a delight and a hoot. The women who helps in the eye glasses area and with adjustments are awesome, everyone has a good vibe so it doesn't feel stuffy or uncomfortable like any kind of clinic can. I had PanOptix placed in my eye Feb 7th, 2020. This lens did not work for me, I did have 20/20 vision, but the rings and halos ruined my night vision and I was in great distress. The surgeon that placed it in my eye would not remove it. I was running out of time as I was almost 5 months post op from PanOptix and this lens needed to get removed quickly if it were going to be successfully removed and replaced with a Crystalens. I began my search for a doctor that would replace the lens and give me back my beautiful night vision. Dr. Mahootchi listened to me, heard my despair and told me I didn't have to live like this and that he would do a lens exchange for me. Because I felt so confident in him through reading of his experience and all his wonderful reviews on many forums I decided to take the trip across the country, even during a pandemic and see him! Good afternoon…read more I've been going to True Eye Experts, even before you changed hands over 10 years. First New Tampa, and then Lutz. I've never had a bad experience, everyone is extremely pleasant and professional until now. First let me say that one of the techs in Lutz (red hair) is extremely rude, no customer service skills. I've worked in customer service for over 20 years. One of the first things I ever learned is, the customer is always right, even if they're not. You do not talk over a customer. You are there to listen. Not to be the person who thinks they are right. Now, with that being said, if the customer is irritated to begin with and not being rude, not cussing, however, I was being loud, you do not tell them you're are going to disengage. You stop, you listen, and reslolve. If you cannot resolve it, you stop, you listen, and let the customer finish, most especially when you have just broke a 350 dollar pair of sunglasses and with the lens that I purchased from your company, I had 750 dollars into these sunglasses, and then, she tells me that they are not responsible, and said they told me that. The tech that took my sunglasses to the back to adjust them. She never said anything about not being responsible for the glasses or else I never would have handed them to her, it was not even a thought in my head that she would break them. Now mind you, they are plastic lenses, Dolce Gabana. You do not try to bend plastic frames in which she did, and snapped them in half. My whole thought was she was going to go back there to soften the backs to fit securely on my ears. The tech that was so rude contacted me on Monday morning, and gave me 3 solutions...and...she again was talking over me. First solution - they can get the same glasses through their parent company and that worked, until she couldn't get the style I had. She asked me several times if I wanted the ones they found, not the ones I intially purchased. I told her no that wasn't going to work. I went out and purchased another pair yesterday. Just like the ones they broke, but they can't get a hold of them Second solution - I could purchase a frame from their selection. I said no, that wasn't going to work. Third solution - I could bring my lenses in that I purchased and relanquish them, and then they would refund me the money for the lenses. Please tell me in what world does that make sense? You refund me the money for the lenses that I bought, and then I have to turn around, and buy them back. If they give me the money back for my lenses, since I can't get the glasses that I initially bought, and I'll walk away satisfied.

My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Odil for the past 3-4 years. Throughout that time, Dr. Odil…read morehas always been pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional, and the office is equipped with impressive technology that makes the exams feel very thorough and modern. Unfortunately, our most recent experience left us disappointed enough that we will likely look elsewhere for future care. One ongoing concern has been the pressure to purchase frames and lenses directly through the office. While we have purchased glasses there in the past, the pricing is significantly higher than many alternatives. During this visit, we asked about using our own frames with updated lenses and were told that was not an option -- the only solution presented was purchasing entirely new frames and lenses from the office at a cost of $400+. The larger issue, however, was communication and follow-through regarding actual patient concerns. I scheduled this year's appointment specifically because I had worsening night vision and significant starburst effects from headlights while driving at night. I explained the issue multiple times during the appointment and specifically asked whether the updated prescription would help with those symptoms. I was assured that it would. I also had concerns related to a prior eye injury that occurred a few months earlier. Because the office was closed when the injury happened, I was unable to be seen at that time. Although I reached out, there was very little follow-up afterward. During my annual exam, Dr. Odil did check the eye and confirmed everything looked fine, which I appreciated, but the lack of concern and responsiveness when the injury initially occurred was frustrating. After the appointment, my wife and I requested copies of our prescriptions and receipts and were told everything would be available through the patient portal. Unfortunately, the documents were not there, and getting assistance became unnecessarily difficult. Calls were not answered, and communication was handled almost entirely through text messages, which turned what should have been a quick conversation into days of back-and-forth messaging. I ultimately filled my prescription elsewhere. When I tried the glasses while driving at night, there was essentially no improvement in the starburst effect that I had specifically sought help for. What frustrated me most was that recommendations such as anti-glare coatings, amber tint/driving lenses, and other options were only brought up afterward through text messages -- after I had already purchased the lenses elsewhere. Had those recommendations been discussed proactively during the exam, when I repeatedly explained my nighttime driving concerns, I could have considered those options during the purchasing process. I also found the communication process extremely impersonal. Even when I simply requested a quick phone conversation to better understand whether the prescription itself should have improved the issue, I was repeatedly directed toward forms and troubleshooting procedures instead of being able to speak with someone directly. To be fair, everyone I interacted with remained polite and professional throughout the process, and I do believe Dr. Odil is knowledgeable. However, the overall experience increasingly felt transactional and sales-focused rather than patient-focused. Strong communication, responsiveness, and proactive guidance are just as important as technology and presentation, and unfortunately that was where this experience fell short for us. One final aspect of this experience was particularly disappointing. After my wife left a review describing concerns similar to mine -- primarily regarding communication, administrative processes, and sales pressure -- we later received a certified letter informing us that our doctor-patient relationship with the practice was being terminated. While practices certainly have the right to make those decisions, the timing made the situation feel discouraging, especially after several years as loyal patients. Constructive feedback should ideally be an opportunity to improve the patient experience, not something that leaves patients feeling dismissed for expressing honest concerns.
