    Ribs with side of beans

Yes! Yes! Yes! I don't know how long this place has been here but it was super good and a welcome new restaurant in restaurant-poor northwest Wisconsin. Great ribs. Great sauces (tangy white sauce was excellent). Interesting and delicious fries. Great sides. The beans are a meal in themselves. We will be back!.

Pretty friendly service, our waitress gave very considerate recs for each person's meal. Food was overall good, especially the in-house sauces. They have plenty of seating options, but the indoor seating was pretty echo-y and cold

Pork grilled cheese , pork sandwich, Mac and cheese, corn muffin (amazing)

Love the pork grilled cheese--really good Mac and cheese. Extremely clean --great atmosphere. We will definitely be going back when traveling to the cabin.

We love Strongman and try to stop by every time we go to Spooner. Staff is great, food - delicious, and lots to do outdoors in the summer.

I ordered the four meat platter, and in hindsight wish that I had just ordered the brisket platter because the ribs and pulled pork were dry and bland (couldn't taste seasoning or a smoky flavor, and we can legit make better at home). The smoked sausage was nothing special. The only thing I enjoyed was the brisket as it was moist and tender, but again, it wasn't much for a BBQ/smokehouse flavor. As for the bottles of BBQ sauces at the table, they were all very mild; I get in WI restauranteurs tend to hold back on bold or stronger flavors due to the tame cooking of our ancestors, but why that's still the case when people are now well-traveled I will never understand. My husband had the poutine and was not a fan (I did not try it). Finally, the thin brown to-go boxes are useless. We sealed up my leftover meat and placed it in our cooler with other food items. Once home we discovered the material of the box had soaked through and released brown liquid over everything else. Yuck! Such a waste of time to have to wash the cooler and all it's contents because of mediocre BBQ stored in a chintzy box.

Yah Butz has been around for a number of years as some friends of ours gave us a couple of bottles of their bbq sauce a few years ago which we really enjoyed. We were back in the area again and our friends and picked up some of their que for dinner. Yah Butz is all prepared and packaged to go. There is not an option to eat at their location which is fine. They are located in lake country so it's a perfect meal to make at your cabin or home. This day we had ribs and brisket. Being somewhat of an aficionado, I believe I know good bbq. We heated up our meats and enjoyed a great meal. The ribs are falling off the bone tender. Usually a sign that the ribs were steamed, baked or even boiled. Against what I would normally believe. The ribs also were sauced where again I usually prefer my ribs naked. Well none of that mattered today as the ribs were meaty and delicious. I actually overate as they were kind of addictive. The brisket was also very good. Sliced a bit thinner than I prefer however after having a couple of bites, I went back for a couple more slices. This is darn good que. On our way out of town we stopped in to pick up some brisket and sauce to bring home with us since we may only get up this way once a year. Yah Butz is a small shop in town but they make some darn good que at an affordable price and we love that sauce!

We had gone to go chase waterfalls as the snow was melting and were craving bbq so we found this place in the area with decent reviews and decided to check it out. Underwhelming is the main word that comes to mind. Honestly, the ribs and rib tips were really greasy and it came out extremely fast. The rib tips weren't even that hot. And they were fried to a crisp.. not super edible. They were ok but not great. The ribs were decent, good flavor, not a ton of smoke and like I said, greasy. The smoked mac and cheese was disgusting. It tasted like it was days old (or at least the cheese was) and there wasn't any smoke flavor. The baked beans were ok but tasted like from a can. For it being a $82 order i just feel like it should have been way better. Front desk cashier was friendly enough but not super helpful. Wouldn't come back here but it served the purpose in the moment.

The dining room and the bathrooms were very clean and nicely decorated. The 3 ribs I had in my two meat combo were very good, meaty and tender. My smoked Mac and cheese side and my wife's cheesy mashed potatoes were ok. Now the not so good. The server couldn't crack a smile and clearly didn't want to be there. The brisket was tender but had little flavor; no bark or even smoke ring. My wife had the 2 meat combo with 1/4 chicken which was dry, and pulled pork that tasted overcooked and flavorless. The cornbread was also dry and crumbly. If we had only had the ribs, we probably would have given 4 stars. As it was I can't really recommend.

Outdoors they provide cornhole, hula hoops, footballs, etc. The outdoor area is dog friendly. Service was the main reason Tamarack Farms got four stars instead of five. We checked in for a table as soon as they opened, but it was a very long time after we were seated before we got water and could order. More minimal dings were for not providing BBQ sauces with the ribs, butter for the cornbread, or wet wipe packets. As someone who ate regularly at the original Famous Dave's that burned down, these things were the standard. Not extras. And now they don't provide them when other BBQ joints do.

I enthusiastically change my rating from three stars to five!…read more I visited Tamarack Farms with my family during our recent trip to Hayward and wow is this spot much improved from when I visited six years ago. Some things that stood out: * The farm pizza! This was delicious. We tried a couple including pepperoni and mac and cheese pizza. The crust was excellent as was the toppings. I was also impressed by how well the mac and cheese stayed on top of the pizza. The kids loved it too! * The brisket! My husband's aunt and uncle recommended this, and they weren't wrong. It was so tender. Just perfection! * The cornbread! If you ever had Famous Dave's cornbread, this is very similar, and for good reason. "Famous Dave" Dave Anderson owns Tamarack Farms. * The wine slushies! On a warm day, these hit the spot. It also feels like this restaurant has refined its approach. This includes the decor, the menu and how the restaurant is run. Where before we had to wait a while for our food, this time around everything seemed to run like a well oiled machine. Tamarack Farms also includes a fun selection of wine, so you could take some bottles home with you. The building is open and airy, with large garage doors. It's just a fun place all around. I hope it becomes a tradition that we come here whenever we're in the Northwoods.
