SEE UPDATE BELOW I really hate to give Structure Tech a 1-star review, since we honestly thought we had a great experience with them during and immediately after the inspection. But we need to warn others about a big mistake that was made so they don't suffer the same fate as us. My wife and I are first-time homebuyers and just over a year ago (March 2022) we requested inspection services for a house we hoped to buy. Our initial request was to have the base inspection, plus a radon test, chimney inspection, and mold inspection. Soon after confirming our appointment via email, we were informed by Trina Pauly, Client Care Coordinator of Structure Tech, that she "did not see a wood burning fireplace in the listing or photos" and removed the chimney inspection from our request. Considering we never owned a home, we trusted Structure Tech's expertise and didn't try to fight this change. This also seems to align with what Structure Tech says on their website, which implies that chimney inspections are only necessary for homes with wood-burning appliances. After we received our regular inspection report from Structure Tech, the only comments about the chimney were that the chimney cap was not visible and that they recommended the cap be inspected and repaired as necessary. They also stated that "various bricks on the chimney were spalling" and "they may need replacement in the future, but there is currently no recommended service." Unfortunately, this quick assessment vastly underestimated the actual condition of the chimney. It's now June 2023 and we've been addressing problems in the house in order of necessity. Since the chimney didn't seem like a very pressing matter, we only just requested it have a true inspection. The result? We're told the chimney is essentially in total disrepair. It has many major issues, including an increased risk of carbon monoxide building up in the house. It's recommended that we have the chimney rebuilt from the roof on up. The estimated cost for the project is about $10,000. That's obviously a huge chunk of money. And we could have used that information as a negotiation tool when buying the house or even the info we needed for us to walk away and look for another house. But now we live here and are stuck with fixing this since we obviously don't want to risk carbon monoxide poisoning. I'm sorry Structure Tech, but you let us down. We asked for the chimney inspection and were told we didn't need it, which we should have pushed back on. If only we knew more. EDIT: Updating this review from 1 star to 3 stars. Structure Tech did reach out to us and we had a productive series of messages. We still feel like they could have been more clear about when and why a chimney inspection is necessary and what their limitations are compared to other companies offering the service. But they are otherwise a great company that's been very responsive and helpful to us as homeowners. read more

I called on a Friday and asked if it was possible to schedule an inspection for the following day, Saturday. Yes. Email links to completing the necessary home and payment information came promptly. Eric arrived on time and spent over 4 hours inspecting the property, answering questions and otherwise being extremely helpful. His knowledge and insight were evident at every turn, on every system both inside and outside the home. I had Structured Tech inspect my home prior to purchasing a home and paid $1,900. Inspection was good except one area. I had 2 windows with extensive dry rot which was told by a Pella rep that it should have been discovered. I had to replace one window at a cost of $7,800. I called structured tech and had Eric (service) come out and he acknowledged the damage and turned it over to his insurance company. Insurance company called and did not come out but asked for pictures which I sent. Claim was quickly denied!!! I again called ST to leave a message for service and 5 minutes later got a call from their law firm basically telling me to pound sand. I'm writing this to let buyers be ware and write specifically what you want inspected. read more
