I was diagnosed with breast cancer, had a double mastectomy, and now it's time for my next event for wellness... chemo. For woman going thru this process you need infuse life with a positive outlook, however there are days where that can be a challenge. For us women, the thought of losing our hair almost feels worse than losing our breast and the thought of wearing a wig solidified I was going to be that person we all have seen that we knew was battling. I decided to proactively shop for my hair before it's all loss so I can match up more of my natural style, however I didn't know what to expect. Upon entering Strut I was relieved to see how much inventory they had and I wasn't going to be forced to pick something that didn't feel right and more so hair that felt even more beautiful than what I naturally have. Jessica initially helped me and she was absolutely incredible! She made me feel comfortable, she gave me great knowledge, and assisted in helping me try several wigs on. Jessica turned this really odd experience for me into something that felt a tad fun. I wanted to invest in real hair vs. synthetic and she helped me understand the difference (and both are truly good options). After selecting my new "doo" I asked if they could infuse some beach waves and a different part... and it came out so good! On June 5 I was informed I had cancer June 13 I went to strut.. i did not want to leave anything for the last minute, for 2 weeks I went to various doctors appointments and tests. However during this time I also went to strut. I tried on wigs picked colors and styles. Now everything was set and in my profile. All I needed to do was reach out when I felt it was time to move forward. Needless to say by July 29 my hair was falling out at a rapid pace. So July 31 I went to strut confirmed what I wanted and it was expedited and arrived a week later. August 3 I went for my fitting and training on how to care for my hair and put it on. The best thing I did was plan ahead . My advice do not wait if you are going through chemotherapy start this process when you aren't anxious or stressed . I am so happy with my wig! I opted for real hair and love it and purchased the light version in weight for when I'm home I purchased a turban and for fast runs to the store I got a cap with hair!. I liked the style of this wig, but it was in grey and did not look this frizzy. They ordered the wig pictured below, and when I tried it in the store, it was so dark that I couldn't see how frizzy it was. When I got home I saw all the flyaway hair which I couldn't get down with hairspray. I went back to the store and was told "no refunds if you walk out with the wig." They said the owner will call me. Weeks went by, and I had to call the owner. We subsequently exchanged multiple emails. The owner told me to send a picture and they would take it up with the manufacturer. We had to email her multiple more times (over multiple weeks) to find that the manufacturer said there was nothing wrong with their wig. At this point, Helena suggested I come in and they would try to steam the wig, use hairspray and use a curling iron, but she would not consider a refund. I tried all those fixes already. I went to a different wig expert, who told me that this was a very poor quality wig for the money I spent--that part is evident; the quality is lower than wigs for half the price. The store is too dark--they blamed their landlord. The wig is poor quality--they blame me for choosing it and taking it out of the store to take a good look at it: "All sales final!". Then they said it's essentially my problem. See the picture below to see what I could not see in their store. All in all, a terrible experience. If you do go here, bring good lights with you, and whatever you do, don't take a wig that isn't what you want home with you! read more

The staff at Strut were extremely helpful and friendly in helping my mom find a wig. However there were huge downfalls in the process. One being that after my had chosen a wig, she had to have it ordered. Unknown to us, this particular wig was back ordered for approximately a month after we were told it would be in after a week, and no one even called to inform us until weeks after it was originally supposed to come in. With someone going though cancer, you can't wait until your wig gets in for your hair to start falling out, so my mom was bald for several weeks. After the wig finally came in, there was no sort of compensation for the delay in getting the wig back. Additionally, to make matters worse, the hair dresser did such a bad job cutting the wig that it now looks like something kid rock would wear. My mom won't even wear it now. We would definitely not go back to this wig store. read more

Nice little place they've got here! It's welcoming and comfortable. The staff is super friendly and helpful (I personally love Kayla). I wish they had more colors in more wigs, but I'm willing to try any color or style in all wigs just for fun. It's amazing how many I liked that I didn't think I would. Kayla helps to open one's perspective and she's an expert at knowing what looks right and how to alter the wig to better suit one's face by trimming the hair. I've bought 2 wigs so far and have a couple others on file for future purchases. I highly recommend this place--even if you don't "need" a wig. I was referred by my oncologist to the Solana Beach store. Everything about the experience was positive and amazing - from the people who work there, to the products, to the great parking out front. I needed a last minute appointment right before Thanksgiving and they fit me in without hesitation. They helped me with insurance forms and answered all my questions quickly and thoughtfully. If I could give zero stars I would. This place is so expensive and has very rude employees who did nothing to help me (not Kayla she's amazing!) when I emailed them about missing ponytail and a failed laser treatment. I payed $1000 for a promise that their laser treatment would help stimulate new hair growth, but it actually made even more hair fall out! When I emailed them I was brushed off by Helena and told that there actually was no guarantee and its "like a facelift, it doesn't work for everybody". All I asked was at least a refund of half of the money I payed for the laser and she would not help. I am frustrated from this terrible business owner and I want to let everybody else know of the terrible time I had here so nobody else will have to go through what I went through. read more

I am so impressed with the service and the quality of the wigs at Strut! I booked a consultation for my mom who lost her hair due to chemo. The ladies at the salon were warm, welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable. They really made my mother, who had never done this before and was very nervous, feel comfortable. They gave us time to pick out some wigs on our own, and then asked some questions and gave us advice based on my moms preferences and lifestyle. This place is AWESOME! Credit to my brother for finding this place for my Mom after she finished her 2nd round of chemo. I landed up taking her and it was a 30 min. drive for us (we live in Chula Vista) but I have to say, it was SO worth the drive! This place is clean, organized, has a great selection of wigs, and the staff were so welcoming. We had an appointment with Marisol and we liked her immediately. She was so sweet, professional, and patient with my Mom. She listened attentively to her situation and only pulled what my Mom was interested in trying on. Hello! My name is Naomi and I'm a team member at Strut in Solana Beach. It's been so fun getting to know everyone and getting to learn about all the hair solutions that Strut offers. I started working at Strut in early February and I was so excited to try the Laser Hair Therapy. Laser Hair Therapy is a non-surgical, scientific approach in the cosmetic treatment of hair loss, thinning hair, and scalp problems. In mid 2018 I had some major hair loss due to stress, so my interest was peaked the more I learned about the laser. I forgot to mention that back in September of 2018, in addition to the hair loss ,I found a bald patch, the size of a silver dollar, missing on the back of my head. I learned that the patch that I lost is called alopecia areata, I had some high hopes for the laser and I was not disappointed. I started the laser in late February and I have seen a remarkable difference that keeps improving . I would recommend this hair therapy for anyone going trough something similar. Seriously Impressed! I am a natural red head and have been experiencing hair loss. I began the arduous process of looking for a wig.  I have tried on several wigs and have been very frustrated as I haven't been able to find one with the correct color.  I need to wear my wig for a very long time and really want one that matches my usual hair color. I was referred to this store by a friend, and although the shop has an amazing selection of wigs, the red hair wigs didn't match my complexion. I decided to do a custom color!!! I had very low expectations it wouldn't turn out, but decided to give it a try. I bought a natural human hair wig in blonde and provided a sample of the color that I wanted, hoping for a close match!!! I know how hard it is to dye Red hair as it almost always never turns. It usually takes a stylist a few times to get it right!!! The color on my new wig is amazing, I cannot believe how great it looks. I am extremely pleased with how natural the wig looks! I came home to show my husband and he is completely blown away by how natural and great it looks. He keeps telling me how much he loves it!!! The staff was so gracious and kind to me!!! I had always wanted thicker, longer hair but with such fine hair it just couldn't take the length. Then my hair started becoming finer and finer and after covid I noticed quite a bit of loss. I had never considered looking into extensions as the older ones never seemed to look quite right to me. Wow. Things have changed. The topper they recommended looked natural and the extensions are so much simpler now. Don't know why I waited this long. Really helps with my confidence. Helena and her staff are fantastic. I have been undergoing chemotherapy and they helped me find the most beautiful human hair wig. I cannot tell you enough how much this wig has changed my attitude. It makes me feel like me again (with even better hair than before). I have since gone back to the store several times and each time the experience is as good (if not better) than the last. They all remember my name and go out of their way to make sure I'm happy. I also prefer to have my wig washed and styled there because I just don't trust myself and they do an outstanding job. I love my wig so much I went and bought a second one for the days I leave one in the store to get treated. Even though my hair will start growing back soon, I fully intend to keep wearing them! I have tried to wear wigs on and off for the last 9 years. Everytime I purchased a wig, it did not feel right. The fit the color the style. Everyone knew I was wearing a wig. I was so discouraged. Even purchased a human hair in the Palm Springs area, thinking I looked like a star. Wow was I disillusional!!! I walked into city wigs on a whim one year ago and met the owner. Walked out with an amazing wig, not only fits properly but looks amazing. I receive compliments on my hair consistently, not one person has ever asked me: Are you wearing a wig? I would easily give them 0 stars if it was possible. Worst customer experience ever. I seriously don't even believe any of these other reviews are real. The owner is so rude and useless, won't help at all. My sister is having chemotherapy so she lost all her hair and needed a wig. The first time we went there the girl helping was amazing, she was nice and thoughtful. We found a beautiful synthetic ombré dirty blonde wig. When we returned to order the wig, they told us it was back ordered for 3 weeks, okay that's fine we ordered it. 4 weeks later the wig came in, completely a different color we ordered dirty blonde and got a red wig. Upset over waiting so long they "accommodated" us by "overnighting" the "correct" color. 4 days later the wig was in and now a platinum blonde. Once again we wanted a ombré dirty blonde, not platinum! Upset by all of this they kept saying it was the correct color it just needed to be let out of packaging and brushed. Obviously this sounds crazy, but hey they are the professionals we know nothing about wig buying, They finally got us to leave with the wig. BTW once you leave with the wig they won't help you at all it's a final sale. You must pay before you order it and they won't refund you, and don't care that they made multiple mistakes by ordering the wrong color. So two days later the wig was compared to original photos taken and brushed. It's a straggly platinum blonde wig, no changes. Certainly not the beautiful ombré wig we tried on. Today they said oh well that's because it's the summer color so it won't be the same as the one you tried on. WHAT SERIOUSLY??? why then did you say it was the same it just needed time???? LIES!!!!! I hate they way they have treated my sister and how upset they have made her throughout this process. She has cried several times because of the way they talk to her/"handled" this situation. I was recommended to come here and they made the whole process so easy! Helena talked to me about my hair, my issues and figured out what would work best for me.
