Despite repeated emails and phone calls, we've received nothing but silence, excuses, and broken promises. JR is never available, rarely in the office, and now sends my calls straight to voicemail after yet another missed commitment two weeks ago. Completely unprofessional. I was nervous because I didn't know if he would be as good as our former CPA. I met with him in person and after speaking with him and asking many questions, I was satisfied that we made the right choice. JR and his staff are very professional, efficient, and reliable. I have never had to make calls out of the ordinary for updates on our taxes. If they are missing documents or have questions, they have always contacted me by phone and/or email. We were in a bad place with a full services firm (planning, preparation, bookkeeping & payroll) that not only didn't do what they were supposed to do, but made a ton of detrimental mistakes and wrong filings with the IRS. L & M not only cleaned up our books quickly, but jumped on it taking care of everything to clean up the mess balancing things to the penny (as they should be) and correcting the federal and state filigs, as well as our employee W2's. Andy (owner) is an absolute nightmare of incompetence…read more Beware; Don (passed away) and Henson (sold partnership) the founders are no longer owners of this company. Andy admitted to me he has never filed mark to market 475(f) which created a misclassification of income costing me $100k+ in taxation of earned income that should have been tax deductible had he known what he was doing. He does not provide itemized billing so no clue what he's charging for and unethical billing practice in calculating invoice.. he guesses at what sounds best to him.. he bills for work he is unqualified to file then will claim "I have no fiduciary duty"--there is always a fiduciary duty to do what's in best interest of client especially when directed by client. He bills without scope of engagement then claims "work was not included in scope of engagement or I would have terminated contract". Mind you; he was terminated by me for his incompetence when he began back-stepping his liability.. He filed claim with his E&O insurance before I even hired my Attorney. They won't protect what's coming once I have calculated all damages to the penny. My tax attorney contacted IRS private letter ruling October in denial of late election relief due to monetary injury to govt by reclassification (another lie by Andy that I could go through courts--no such IRS courts as it's filed through filing PLR) stay away from Andy.

I was looking for a local CPA after moving back to Texas. I found Justin through a Google search…read moreand chose him based on the positive reviews from other clients. At the time, I was going through a divorce and needed help sorting through a complicated tax situation. I first met with him in March 2025 and didn't have a follow-up appointment until September 2025. Initially, I planned to file separately. However, during our September meeting, Justin advised that my ex-husband and I should file a joint return for the 2023 tax year, the year we separated, because it would save us money. Based on that advice, I waited while he communicated with my ex-husband and gathered the necessary documentation. Months passed without any updates. In December, I emailed Justin three separate times before finally receiving a response. During that time, I also received notices from the IRS regarding late filings and penalties. When I finally heard back, I learned that Justin had filed my 2024 tax return separately in October without informing me. He then told me that filing jointly would not have resulted in significant savings after all. Had that been communicated to me earlier, I could have made an informed decision. At a minimum, I believe he should have called me before changing course and filing my return. I also discovered something much more concerning: he had never filed my 2023 tax return. Instead, he had filed my 2024 return, despite charging me $310 for preparing and filing my 2023 return. Because I was dealing with my divorce and the sale of my home, I did not have the mental bandwidth to immediately address the situation and needed to find another CPA. Eventually, I contacted the CPA my ex-husband and I had worked with while we were stationed in Arizona. Although I had moved to Texas, I learned he could still assist me. In February 2026, I contacted Justin to request all of my tax documents so I could transfer them to my former CPA. I was finally able to pick them up in April. Before releasing my documents, Justin wanted to meet with me. During that meeting, he could not explain why my 2023 return had never been filed. Ironically, the morning of our meeting, he submitted a request for verification of non-filing for my 2023 tax return. He acknowledged that he had let me down and offered to file the return at no additional charge after I consulted with my new CPA. Ultimately, my former CPA resolved everything quickly and professionally. Despite being in another state, communication was prompt, clear, and consistent throughout the process. I also requested a refund of the $310 I paid Justin for preparing and filing my 2023 return, since it was never filed and cost me hundreds more in late/penalty fees. To date, I have not received that refund. Now that my tax matters have been resolved, I intend to file complaints with the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy (TSBPA) and the Texas Society of CPAs regarding my experience.
