Small Pakistani salon in Huntington. So for people that want to get their eye-brows threaded, this…read moreis a great spot to get it done. They are a little bit more expensive than other salons, but in Huntington they are the best. I personally prefer Aaina in Hicksville if you can make trip, they are much better at what they do. I do come to Humara for my biannual haircut though, she's VERY reasonable, and very good at what she does. Humara is the only one who does hair in this salon so you do not need to specify. She charges $30 which is SUPER CHEAP. Try her once, and for the price is she unbeatable! That's $30 - for a wash, cut & blow dry. She does take credit cards, Visa & Mastercard, not AMEX. There is free street parking right in front of the store, and I have never had to park more than a block away.

In my mother's words, "Humara exhausts herself being as detailed as possible to make sure your hair is absolutely perfect." One of my cousins and I both went recently and we were sharing stories. She told us both that she cut it in a way so no matter where we part out hair it's gonna look good. I was definitely very impressed with that, along with the fact that she is the only one who does cutting in the whole salon.. She did hike the price up a little from $30 to $35 for a wash+cut+blow dry, but she does a damn good job so I don't even care. Plus, it's almost impossible to get a quality haircut for cheap nowadays so I don't mind. My sister just got her hair cut her today and for the majority of the time I was sitting in the chair next to her looking through her makeup drawers (i'm a fanatic and she let me!). When we were leaving she asked me why I didn't practice with all of her expensive makeup while I was waiting! She is SO friendly!

I'll admit - I have haircutophobia. Haircutophobia (n): Fear and anxiety over having to get a…read morehaircut, and putting off getting a cut as long as possible. Also, fear of scissor-happy hairdressers who take off too much hair and don't listen to your wants and needs. You may ask, "Why Mandi, what caused you to get haircutophobia?" I'll tell you a story. I was four, and I had lovely long, long, curls. My older brother was growing bored of cutting the hair of his teddy bear, so he thought it would be wise to attempt his newfound skills on his kid sister. Guess who started kindergarten that year with an awful bowl haircut to her ears? Yep. This girl. Sigh. As such, ever since that fateful day, my quest for the perfect hairdresser has been on. I realized I had bookmarked this place some time ago, and with an upcoming vacation I decided to call. I asked the receptionist who she recommended for long hair, and she said "Michael". Conveniently, he was available for an appointment the following day at 10:30 am. I came in this morning and met Michael, who recognized me from Sephora days, and I recognized him as well. We were off to a great start, and I immediately felt comfortable. He talked to me about what I wanted and we had our game plan. This is the first time ever at a salon that the person who cut my hair, also washed and blew out my hair. I was VERY impressed with this, as many salons will have one person shampoo you, then you get your haircut, and sometimes another person will blow out your hair. I have A LOT of hair, and I knew it can be a pain to have to blow dry but Michael loved it and said it was one of his favorite parts of doing hair. Umm...then wouldja mind coming by my place every a.m. to do it? Pretty please? I never felt rushed and the total time spent from start to finish was about an hour and fifteen minutes. Michael gave me an AMAZING haircut, I feel like a total superstar. Watch out, Beyoncè! Mandi's in town! This is one of the best, if not THE best, hair cut I have ever had. I've received many compliments already, my parents loved it, the boy loves it, I love it. And as an added bonus, I ran into a few people that I hadn't seen in a very long time at Target afterwards looking fab-u-lous. Don't ya just love that feeling? Thanks for curing me of haircutophobia, Michael!
