In the beginning everything seemed fine. We got the price we wanted, amount of hours for the day and a decent video package. But in my hurry and last minute timing, I did not realize that I booked a vendor with little experience. The trailer and short film were ok, but we got the feeling that the team who worked on the edits had their own vision of our trailer and short film. On the day of the wedding they wanted me to write a note in a card so they can use it in the video, but that was just not my style. Good thing we were short on time, so I didn't do it. Then, as they were sending us the drafts of the trailer and short film, the music we requested were not used. We tried to make changes and edits, but only a couple of our requests were completed. Then came the documentary video, dun dun dun. This is where we had the most problems. My issues were that the sound quality was not consistent and they did capture of the most special, surprise moment of our reception - a flash mob. They could did not show how this moment unfolded, from start to finish. We were very disappointed since they had more than enough time to make it 'perfect.' And after many emails, texts, and even a call from our wedding coordinator, no response. They even got the wedding date wrong on the DVD and had to remake a second set. Pay attention to detail!!! I guess it isn't that important when this is just a side business.

I was just re-living our wedding by watching the SDE (same day edit) that they created for us, and had JUST said to my husband "what a great job, I'm so glad we picked them as our videographers, we had so many money shots that others wouldn't have picked up". The entire team was very professional. When I hire a vendor, I am entrusting their expertise and expecting them to perform flawlessly from beginning to end. We did not even know a SDE was going to be made for viewing during our reception, it was an extra they threw in for us. In the interest of full disclosure, I really didn't care about having a videographer for our…read morewedding. I figured a photographer would be sufficient and I couldn't really wrap my mind around the added expense especially given how uncomfortable I anticipated being the center of attention. I loathed the idea of being filmed, assuming each shot would be of me looking strained and awkward every time I saw the camera. Also, most wedding videos look so forced and "wedding-y" that they just seem insincere. Suffice it to say, I have never been happier to be wrong in my life. Aside from being a gifted videographer, Evan Olman is an extraordinary individual. He has the best temperament, no bull-shit, and he just exudes positivity. By being so chill and awesome himself, Evan reminded everyone to just enjoy the weekend in all its glory! He was forthcoming from the very beginning in getting an idea of what we wanted and how we operated so that he could do his best to make us comfortable. He also ran all over the place to multiple locations with his equipment in tow, smiling all the while with joyful reassurances. Without a doubt, Evan was our favorite guest! And then on new year's day, the highlight video arrived. I'm still reeling from how incredible it turned out. Evan captured the most incredible moments that still take my breath away. I can't get over how much time he must have spent editing the video. He created a piece that truly reflects us and our "formality be damned, devil may care" attitude so that, in my sisters words, there's nothing douchey or trite about it. Per our loved ones, watching it makes you feel just as spectacular as we did in the moment. It is a treasure. This video is the greatest gift. I'll never be able to thank Evan for all of his hard work and creativity! Honestly he could charge double/triple and it would still be well worth it all. So don't be stupid. Hire Evan! Seriously, dude, he's magic.
